I was kinda disappointed that you didn't make him an Arcane Trickster Rogue, I mean Loki is the God of Mischief so being a Trickster would fit him well. Also he is clever as heck so his Intelligence would be his highest stat. A Rogue/Sorcerer would fit him better.
Also Loki CAN'T be a Firbolg, Firbolgs are unable to lie due to the code they are born with, it's not that can't its that if they try they break out in a sweat and stutter making them terrible liars. But Loki is a master when it comes to lying.

I basically built this character concept already but instead of firbolg (cow person) I chose eladrin. Norse myths treat all supernatural creatures as fey and therefore a god would be a long living being from the feywild. Instead of 15 levels in sorcerer I took 15 levels in bard. I took 5 levels of paladin just like he did. End result is the same except the college of whispers bard gets to turn bardic inspiration into psychic damage with a weapon attack.

    • @avalonnightshade8112

I’ve revisited this build and chose for his race a Blue Tiefling, descendant of Glasya. I switched the fire resistance for cold resistance. Background, adopted, naturally. Thor should be an Aasimar and to keep the Aesir vs Jotun rivalry I think divine vs fiend fits well and keeps the spirit of Loki and Thor’s characters even if this build doesn’t have any giant ancestry.

I made my own dnd versions of various marvel characters so I've been comparing notes. My Loki is water genasi because I was thinking of the ice powers, but I actually prefer the fir bolg instead. My Loki is a whisper bard partially because I've always viewed Loki as an over dramatic bitch and whisper bards are dope, partially because he always seemed to be playing support to Thor and the Warriors 3, and partially because in the comics Loki turns from Chaotic Evil God of Lies to the True Neutral (Chaotic Leaning tho) God of Stories.

Episode 27 of the Fire Emblem stats: Loki. Also, funny, who's coming up next suits him very well.
Loki uses a mix of lances (to match his spears), authority (he's a natural leader) and both types of magic (since he's a sorceror). He refuses to use axes on principle since he hates Thor.
Loki's luck, charm, magic, and resistance are high. His other stats, especially his defense, are not so lucky.

Man, being used to Pathfinder makes this build *so weird* -- Paladins are required to be Lawful Good, thus incompatible with Loki's Chaotic Neutral (or possibly Chaotic Good, depending on how you play him). Could you explain a little better why you chose ranks in Paladin, as opposed to other possibly classes that he could've multi'd with? I'd like to try to convert the base ideas into a Pathfinder build, and I would never have thought of Paladin as any sort of choice while trying to build Loki.
P.S. In future videos, would you mind putting a little icon next to spells that require Concentration? I think it'd be useful to have a visual distinction for those (and, come to think of it, for Bonus Action things... basically any class of actions where you can only use one at a time, there should be an icon). Also, a summary sheet near the end -- perhaps just the 20th level, but ideally a 5th level, 10th level, 15th level, and 20th level summary sheet -- would be useful for an overview of spell choices and feat choices and such.
Thanks for making these! I think your videos are a really cool idea.

Classes in 5e all have branches by 2nd or 3rd level. Think of it as an archetype class like Pathfinder (i.e. Synthesist Summoner, Rake Rogue, etc). Alignment restrictions are gone for 5e. Makes for interesting characters. The antipaladin that forsakes his evil deity/ways can be an "oathbreaker" and so forth.

Before I watch, I just want to say: for a comics-accurate Loki, you should take Blessed of Corellon. It’s a MToF rule (which is also exempt from PHB+1 in AL games, and can be taken completely for frew) that lets your character switch (anatomical) sex at the end of a long rest if they feel like it, which comic Loki has been known to do.
    It’s technically elves-only, but a chill DM won’t care.

When you said Paladin I was hoping for Oath of Conquest or Oathbreaker, but you lost me at Oath of Treachery. Oathbreaker I can see as a "Paladin in mechanics terms only" as it makes sense that "Fallen Paladin" would still be a Paladin subclass. However, I refuse to recognize "Oath of Treachery" as a thing as there is no actual Oath there and it doesn't fit with Paladins at all. At best it steps on the toes of Oathbreaker (flavorwise).

Yeah that bit was confusing as someone who hasn't played D&D in 21 years and I'm navigating D&D Beyond with my books installed and I can't find Oath of Treachery anywhere. I get that the OoT makes it "every man for himself" in a way, but I don't know which of the actually available oaths fit him better as I don't have access to the OoT.

Kind of don't agree on Oathbreaker though, as that requires the character to be evil and while Loki is selfish and misguided I don't believe he's truly evil.
