Realistically, Strange is much more powerful than he is portrayed in the MCU, and I was a big fan of the way his powers were represented in Dr. Strange #1 by Aaron and Bachalo. RIOT I think they’re gonna buff him extremely in The Multiverse of Madness. Although he is powerful in Infinity War and Endgame, I believe he’s gonna get the buff he deserves. And Benedict Cumberbatch is amazing as Doctor Strange.
"Pain's an old friend." "Animate Objects" is a fantastic spell, but the Cloak Of Levitation would probably be more of an intelligent magic-item... a Cloak Of Flight that can "Animate Objects" itself and, as you described, essentially become another party member. Heck, if there's a feat for it, take the Cloak as a familiar.
@@grantbaugh2773 Yeah, if you've got a DM who won't let you play your character your way and give you thematically-appropriate magic-items and gear... find a new DM. Because that DM is a controlling asshole who delights in TPKs and the idea of "Playing God." I've never been that kind of DM, and I'd never play in a campaign run by that kind of DM.
Couldn't you use Awaken on the cloak to turn it into a sentient object? You would need a Druid for that I believe...but not outside the realms of possibility

There's one issue that I think about this build now that I've had more experience with playing, and that's the fact that if you use the +2 AC reaction you can only use a Cantrip. But if you're in a battle, none of the Cantrips you took at Level 1 can do damage. So I'd just replace Minor Illusion with Lighting Lure since that's the energy whip he always does and it doesn't suffer from most other ranged cantrips being at disadvantage up-close while covering up to fifteen feet. Since the enemy hit you already then they're probably up-close to begin with, so the damage should work even without the save.
I always forget how powerful Strange actually is. Since he doesn't have as much screen time as other powerful characters so far, and he is mostly shown in one-on-one fights, you don't get the same massive displays of power from him that others do (think Thor obliterating Hela's army or Captain Marvel destroying Thanos' ship). But he managed to hold off Thanos with four Infinity Stones, turned a black hole into harmless butterflies and trapped an all powerful interdimensonal being in a time loop (with the power of the time stone sure, but still, that required skill on his part). I hope we see more of this stuff in Multiverse of Madness, and the way things are shaping up, we might see him fight Scarlet Witch, which would be a sight to behold.
Anything that summons undeads, finger of death ofc, dimensional door... Most of it is pretty clear but how would you translate "the goal of all life is death"? wish?

Love watching your builds they give me ideas on builds for my characters and something to take into account is equipment you can improve these builds with equipment or magical items
The only change I'd make to this build is to switch Mirror Image with Shield for Spell Mastery. He's pretty quick on bringing up his magic circle, and you can always flavor the follow-up Magic Missile salvo as him throwing the shields at his opponent.
Way to go man! When I first saw this I was terrified you were going to have 10 random multi class levels in at least 2 other classes. Very glad you didn’t weaken the character with a bunch of monk levels or something.
Oh, yes please on the first two! I played a variant of Nightcrawler in some system once, but I felt like I wasn't really getting the build right for what I wanted. (I did find out that I'm horrible at interrogating bad guys, so that was a thing.)
I feel like he would be the ultimate multi class spellcaster. Wizard- Had to study and practice to learn magic. For this I would put School of Conjuration. Warlock- Invokes the powers of other planes and divine beings. For this I would put Great Old One since he uses the powers of divine beings to cast certain spells. Sorcerer- Stated several times that he has a natural gift for the mystic arts and also that he was made for them. Wild Magic, in the comics every spell has a consequence. Druid- He commands one of the prime laws of nature with the time stone (very loose connection). Circle of the Stars. Time Stone can do the Star map stuff and some other of that cool jazz. Cleric- He was a Doctor and clerics are typically healers. There is also a joke in the movie that this whole thing magic sounds like a cult, and a cult is actually a synonym for religion, though it has been misconstrued to be evil. Light Domain Cleric, that sweet Time Stone. Bard- He keeps stories of Magic and ancient Heroes and Beasts alive. Standard College of Lore. Fighter- okay, this sounds crazy, but hear me out. Strange had to get martial arts training while learning magic, so it isn’t all that difficult to say that he is an Eldritch Knig- wait... did you just say he’s an Echo Knight? TIME STONE BABY!!
Nice job. Stan Lee created Doctor Strange a decade before Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson created Dungeons & Dragons. "Sorcerer" historically means something completely different (and much darker) than the "mutant" powers of the popular D&D class.
He's got a house full of stuff, mostly items he's keeping locked up. But his standard equipment is a clock (flight) and an amulet (divination effects).
I like where you went with War mage, but I really think that Chronurgy from explorers guide to wild mount would fit the bill better because it deals with the control and manipulation of time
I would argue that he should have three level of ranger for the Horizon Walker subclass, since detecting extradimensional threats is his job as Sorcerer Supreme
I'd ask the DM if I could just replace "to another plane of existence" with "anywhere on this plane" in certain spells to really get that Stephen Strange feel.

He lost his hands in the car crash and, therefore, lost most of his dexterity. Also, as he mentioned, you need a High Con to maintain Concentration on your Spells.
He didn't lose his hands but did take nerve damage that messed up his dexterity and ended his career as a surgeon. That was part of how he ended up getting into magic in the first place. He used to be a rich celebrity surgeon and a bit of a selfish ass. Think Tony Stark minus the gadgets.

No, because a Warlock is working under a patron that can take away the Warlocks magic as they see fit. Doctor Strange isn't exactly working under anyone or pulling his magic from any source. @@tulokthebarbrarian2033 you got it. I might not be able to edit as well as you can (or at all), but I got pretty decent ideas for the builds (along with my dnd discord server helping out :P )
I understand the use of ASIs, both as a necessary stat boost because of using standard array AND because Feats are an optional rule.....but..... I'd be interested to know how your build would differ if you were using Feats.
So me and my friend s want to start a campaign with me as the DM. None of have played before and I have no idea what to do and where to start any tips?
I'd say until you get more experience as a DM, use one of the published beginner-friendly modules. You can always make changes, but that way you don't have to come up with everything from scratch before you know how anything works. Just google "d&d beginner module" or "d&d starter adventure" or somesuch.

Cobalt I think the way it’s worded is it can replace anything that doesn’t have a gold cost. But if something has a gold cost, it is usually consumed. The diamond for this spell is one of the few gold cost components that aren’t consumed. Or, if you have a cool DM, it won’t matter and you can cast the spell regardless of whether you have that diamond or not.
Hey! I really enjoy your videos.. The concepts are so awesome and duable. I do have a question, do you think yugi moto from yugioh could be a playable dnd character or at least include the millennium items in a campaign
I love Constantine, he lost a recent poll, but I definitely have plans to get him built eventually. Anime is my blind spot, so builds for that are waiting until I can get a little more knowledge of them. Glad you like the videos!
LONG POST INCOMING I play a Constantine-like character for one of my home games, here’s his specs: Human Variant, Haunted One UA Background, 14 levels of Divine Soul Sorcerer and 6 Levels of Fiend Warlock with an Imp familiar from Pact of The Chain. Get the Prodigy and Keen Mind feat to represent his natural talent and cunning mind. For his stats: Charisma is your most important stat followed by Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, Dexterity and Strength as your dump stat. Constantine is an expert deceiver and manipulator, he’s pretty tough for a human, damn smart in arcane and occultism, but he’s pretty lacking in physical prowess. Wisdom is also pretty low because no wise man would even consider trying to con MULTIPLE DEMON LORDS by SELLING HIS SOUL TO ALL OF THEM as a part of a convoluted plan to remove his lung cancer. Constantine is pretty much CN when it comes to alignment but he does lean a bit to CG since he has a soft spot for wayward souls and children due to his backstory, he will often risk the lives of everyone in the party in order to achieve his goals, and he have absolutely no shame in using cheap and underhanded tactics to get what he wants. Constantine won’t make his regret and self-loathing any secret and will openly warn others not to get too attached to him as he fully believes that everything he cares about will be destroyed and its all his fault. Constantine will cheat, manipulate, lie and use anything and everything he can to achieve his goals. Once he sets his mind into something, he is will do his damn best to get it by any means necessary. He’s also fiercely loyal to the very few people he cares about even when he says he doesn’t. John Constantine is a right prick but deep down he has a good heart, even if he doesn’t want to admit it. TL;DR Make a self-deprecating, nihilistic, tsundere, Human SorLock with an edgy backstory and a nicotine addiction.
love this, only thing is when I did it, medic feat would not show, i could only choose grappler. I know this comment is years after video, but any help would be appreciated
I thinking that maybe there should be some monk levels in there, since a lot of the physical fighting Strange does is is martial artsy, but going full spellcaster works too since it is his main talent to draw from. I was also thinking about which class of spellcaster he should be. His title is SORCERER Supreme, but the way in which he gains his powers are more similar to a wizard, so I think a wizard is, in my opinion, the right choice.
I've enjoyed all your videos that I've seen to date. But I'd like to view how you'd creat Zorro [Don Diego De la Vega] and Zorro [Alejandro Murrieta]. But this is one man's thought on it.
Your videos are awesome. Please keep up the fantastic work. Would you please be so kind as to do a "How to play Will Treaty in D&D", from "Ranger's Apprentice".
I'll be up front, it's hard for me to make builds without footage, so book characters are far off on the horizon. I never say never, but it would need to be a different kind of video.
Does anybody have any tips on a homebrewed spell that basicly makes a magical see through wall that can block attacks (elder scrolls wards. Or just what dr. Strange sometimes uses)
By taking the Medic feat, you gain proficiency with the Mededine skill. So should you grabe another one or take the double bonus it give if you already have the Medicine skill?
I love it "How to play Dr Strange" "Play a wizard. Well, that was a short video, now how about those Packers?" Im watching these at random and totally out of order, is there a running count on how many end up being literally nothing more complex than "Play as this class to 20, use fluff to make it like the character concept you are after"? I mean, its one thing for classes that have limited options to specifically pick the ones that let you be that character but excludes all else, but its even in this video, wizards get a LOT of spells, so making sure these specific ones are also on the pile doesnt really seem to be a hardship.
Hey, awesome video. Im reading about the medic feat, but it doesnt sayanything about +1 con. whats your source? so i can talk to my dm so i can take it XD thanks a lot!

I'd pick Firebolt or Chill Touch probably, just because those Cantrips are pretty solid in general

you mentioned in the last comment section that anime was your blindspot for this kind of stuff. would you at all mind if i started trying to do a series like this for my channel on more of those anime builds? i'd obviously give you credit for the idea, i just really wanna try doing stuff like this more often. if not, i understand. thanks for reading this anyway!
DO IT! I'm not really worried about "market share" or anything like that. There's plenty of room on the internet for both of us. :)
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 YAY, I (hopefully) wont let you down, Tulok!
Hey, make sure youd let me know when you get those videos going so I can plug them!
Just google "d&d beginner module" or "d&d starter adventure" or somesuch.
remember that you need to buy the diamond to cast chromatic orb.its a investment to say the least at level 1
Correct me if I'm wrong but you could just get the arcane focus to ignore the diamond, or assume you start with it if you have a component pouch.
@@cobalt2220 you are indeed wrong.a component pounch and a arcane focus dont help with anything that cost money.batshit and sulfur for a fireball can be replaced by a staff or gotten from a pouch, but a diamond diamond worth 100 gold from chromatic orb has to be bought in-game
@@lukelblitz3627 if it isn't consumed, I thought the foci substitutes it.
Can you please do the batman who laughs please?
Rainbow Randolph, Smoochy, or Ronnie Dobbs from "Run Ronnie Run" you know you want to.
whew this video sure was STRANGE
From beginning to End...game.
How would you build Harry Dresden
I feel like he should have the Lightning Lure cantrip from the Sword Coast Guide because he seems to use that a lot.
Hey! I really enjoy your videos.. The concepts are so awesome and duable. I do have a question, do you think yugi moto from yugioh could be a playable dnd character or at least include the millennium items in a campaign
I am a brasilian player of D&D,i'm loving your job dude, its possible to make Constantine and kirito,if not answer me pls
I love Constantine, he lost a recent poll, but I definitely have plans to get him built eventually. Anime is my blind spot, so builds for that are waiting until I can get a little more knowledge of them. Glad you like the videos!

LONG POST INCOMING
I play a Constantine-like character for one of my home games, here’s his specs:
Human Variant, Haunted One UA Background, 14 levels of Divine Soul Sorcerer and 6 Levels of Fiend Warlock with an Imp familiar from Pact of The Chain.
He gains his powers from the Vishanti which are elder gods. He's a pact of the tome great old one warlock for sure.
I've enjoyed all your videos that I've seen to date. But I'd like to view how you'd creat Zorro [Don Diego De la Vega] and Zorro [Alejandro Murrieta]. But this is one man's thought on it.
So the sorcerer supreme is wizard and the scarlet witch is sorcerer?
What 3 languages would be the best picks?
Your videos are awesome. Please keep up the fantastic work. Would you please be so kind as to do a "How to play Will Treaty in D&D", from "Ranger's Apprentice".
I'll be up front, it's hard for me to make builds without footage, so book characters are far off on the horizon. I never say never, but it would need to be a different kind of video.
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033
I totally understand.
Can you do a build based off the dude from Assassin's Creed main character (Desmond !?!)
Make a rogue, hit level three; become an assassin. Congratz, give him a knife and reskin it as a hidden blade.
I am so happy I sub. to this channel.
Happy to have you. :)
I think of him more as...
Monk [open hand] 3 / Sorcerer [draconic?] 17
...M.A.D. as hell though!
Medic, Ritual Caster [wizard], & Prodigy Feats.
*Dr. Strange*
A variant human wizard, perhaps the most powerful in the world
you should do Harry Dresden
Does anybody have any tips on a homebrewed spell that basicly makes a magical see through wall that can block attacks (elder scrolls wards. Or just what dr. Strange sometimes uses)
Wall of force? Resilient sphere?
But what about his magical weapons he summons what spells would be good
I'm trying to figure out how to build Meliodas from 7 deadly sins could you possibly help me out please? 5E
By taking the Medic feat, you gain proficiency with the Mededine skill. So should you grabe another one or take the double bonus it give if you already have the Medicine skill?
How to play Lucario in D&D
I love it "How to play Dr Strange" "Play a wizard. Well, that was a short video, now how about those Packers?" Im watching these at random and totally out of order, is there a running count on how many end up being literally nothing more complex than "Play as this class to 20, use fluff to make it like the character concept you are after"? I mean, its one thing for classes that have limited options to specifically pick the ones that let you be that character but excludes all else, but its even in this video, wizards get a LOT of spells, so making sure these specific ones are also on the pile doesnt really seem to be a hardship.
So far at least three. Raven=fiend warlock, Poison Ivy=spore druid and Dr. Strange=wizard. I have seen most up to this point but not all.
@@kellydolan9717 Beastboy is a 20 druid as well, focusing entirely on shapeshifting.
can you do joker from persona 5 ?
My guess for something like that would be A lot of Rogue (Thief) Levels and maybe some Warlock levels.
Please do Scarlet Witch
I would’ve bumped dex up to where con was just because brain surgery requires precision, which is a dex thing.
How to play Night King from Game of Thrones?
*ice lich*
Are you going to make your Dr. Fate build a warlock?
He should also be way of the astral self monk
What school is it to use on it?
Can you make the 10th docter who
Hey, awesome video. Im reading about the medic feat, but it doesnt sayanything about +1 con. whats your source? so i can talk to my dm so i can take it XD thanks a lot!
Let's see that geralt!!!
I would disagree he is a wizard warlock multiclass
