Front offices leak information to Woj/Shams in return for goodwill to use in the future or immediate info on what other teams are doing. If Leon Rose calls up Danny Ainge and proposes a trade, but Danny demands a higher offer because other teams are also asking for that player, Leon can go to Shams or Woj and ask if those other offers are actually real. And like you said if everyone else is speeding by 10 over the limit then you’re unlikely to be the one who gets singled out and caught for doing it. Every team wants to know what other teams are doing, and journalists want to know what every team is doing anyway for their own job. So every team talks to Woj, and Woj wants to know what every team is doing, and every team wants to know what everyone else is doing, but the communication is all roadblocked by Woj/Shams. Teams have to go through Woj/Shama because he’s the only party involved that teams have access to that knows what’s up, but they also have to reward him with info about their own team in order to get info out of him.

Video idea: "What make the jump-ball fair?" or "Are jump-balls fair?" i.e: What makes jump-balls less luck-based than just flipping a coin or playing RPS for first ball/possession. I think this would be pretty interesting to discuss, if purely for looking at a 'Jump-balls won/lost' statistic, lol. I don't think a stat like that even gets tracked anywhere, but I think it'd be pretty easy to do so. It would also give you the opportunity to evaluate what actually makes a "good" jump-ball toss from an official, a "clean" jump-ball from players and the actual 'skills and knowledge' that determine how to win jump-balls consistently.

Tampering usually seems like a bit a of a subjective thing, the league kinda picks and chooses when it wants to crack down on certain things/times. But sometimes a person/organization does something so heinous/grievous that it is unavoidable that something needs to be done to teach a lesson and show that there are limits to that kind of stuff. Good point that PED's only get a certain level of attention based upon who is getting penalized for it, lesser names seems to mostly go unnoticed and things just move right along.
