Yeah it definitely has been a wild ride to watch what has happened with this team for the past decade, and disappointing is certainly a good word to describe where it has lead thus far (here’s hoping for this season, right?). Ballmer has been an interesting character in the league since he’s become a part of it and not always for good reasons. Getting Kwahi and George was obviously a big deal, and I generally dislike “what if” scenarios like if Shai had stayed. Like you said we can’t play out alternate reality timelines so to me it’s just better to take whatever has happened and keep it movin. Usually pretty easy to scapegoat blame head coach for an underperformed season. Injuries are KILLER for when an otherwise good/fun/exciting team isn’t able to fulfill their potential. Can’t blame George for his decision and his reasons behind it. Not sure if this is still part of the “process” but this 6ers team got a real shot now, again. And yes a low pressure season for Clips should do them well. A bit of a roller coaster going through all of their story for the past few years in just a few minutes. Well done though again, you’re a good storyteller, always like/appreciate how you do what you do. 👍 thanks again poppa, always look forward to the slappin quality content of the week.
I like that you describe Ballmer as a character in the league. I seem him that way as well. I find him just as interesting an compelling as the athletes. What if scenarios frustrating me, I'm not sure why. Glad we're getting PG in a new situation. League is going to be a lot of fun this year. I'd like to see an over performant year from the CLippers. I'm subconscious Clippers fan. Even more so a subconscious Harden fan. haha
I tend to think a lot about how the clippers wanted to get rid of Baron Davis so they traded him along with a first round pick that later turned into Kyrie Irving
@ indeed it was an unprotected clippers pick cause get this the clippers GM at the time said the draft was “weak” , the pick was projected to go 8th and they had a .028% chance of it being the first pick but then the lottery odds shot up and the rest is history
Pretty good video overall, but as a clippers fan with a vivid memory of the 2019-2021 era, there’s a few things you missed. - The PG trade was very far from universally liked. Even without Shai becoming the superstar he is today, it was still the most amount of draft picks ever traded, and a lot of people didn’t realise that it was essentially a trade for pg and kawhi. - Doc Rivers was a major part of the 2020 collapse, but two other big factors were Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell. A lot of people looked at the clippers favourably not just bc of our two stars, but also our depth, in particular our two 6moy contenders with incredible chemistry. Our closing lineup was pretty much always Pat Bev, Lou Will, PG, Kawhi and Trezz. Lou Will and Trezz had really good chemistry and their pick and roll was one of the best in the league. The problem is that neither of them could defend to save their life. When we went up against the nuggets, jokic and Murray tore them apart. We ended up blowing so many leads bc Jokic and Murray could just keep getting buckets on Lou Will and Trezz, and no matter what, Doc refused to take them out, even despite Zubac doing a genuinely good job at guarding Jokic. The 2020 offseason wasn’t just about getting rid of Doc, we also got rid of Lou Will and Trezz, and brought in other guys like Serge Ibaka who helped in ways that Trezz couldn’t (shooting and Defense). 2020 was an awfully disappointing season, and the offseason addressed every issue we had (outside of 20 minutes of bad pg and kawhi basketball in game 7). - In 2021, you could legitimately argue that we would’ve won if not for injury (although you could say the same about the nets that year), and there’s no denying that we would’ve at least made the finals. That was easily our best year to win, but everything went downhill after that. - Losing Pat Bev was a major loss for us that didn’t get mentioned in the video. He was the heart of our team, and a fan favourite. After losing him, our team was never as exciting and our aspirations were never high. People clown on him a lot, but Bev was the most important clipper outside of PG and Kawhi, imo. - Also definitely worth mentioning that we had Jerry West working for us throughout that entire run. He’s arguably the greatest executive that we know of, and he has to get credit for all the incredible moves we made from 2018 until now.
Yet they are the most successful Clippers team of all time, as they went to the western conference finals, which is the furthest any Clippers team has ever gone in the playoffs.
What hurts the most about this is we'll never see Steve Balmer's crazy ass during a championship parade
He'd have a heart attack or sweat himself to skull emoji.

I tend to think a lot about how the clippers wanted to get rid of Baron Davis so they traded him along with a first round pick that later turned into Kyrie Irving
oof. Dang was that first overall an unprotected pick from the Clippers?
I gotta reply to a lot of comments but I will come back to this. good notes for a future video.
Do you think bronny will be able to be a starter for the lakers this year?
I do not. 13th man.
Yet they are the most successful Clippers team of all time, as they went to the western conference finals, which is the furthest any Clippers team has ever gone in the playoffs.
this is true. I think they're going to be a solid team from here on out. they've got money and LA is a nice place to live.
