Thanks for all the great videos. Helping me prep for my D-15 project. This is random but is your name Mike? You look like my childhood friend and it’s be crazy if we both had IHC pickups
Haha yeah. Dangit that would’ve been awesome. Anyways my 213 green diamond is stuck and I have MMO doing it’s thing over the winter to try to free it up. You mentioned in the ring job video that you had advice for a stuck engine but I don’t think you ever said what it was. Any advice would help. This will be my first restoration. Thanks again Eric. Best IHC videos I’ve seen. Keep em coming.
@@wyowhalen3632 I actually have a stuck GRD214 in storage and I've been planning to make a video about how to get it loose safely and easily. I'll have the video done & uploaded probably a month from now. It's a little difficult to explain without a video, but it'll be a game changer. In the meantime I'd suggest finding a few cans of Free All. It's pretty amazing for freeing rusted stuff, my personal favorite.
@@BareKnuckleBinder that will be awesome. Looking forward to seeing that man. I noted the Free All in one of your videos and it’s on my list. You have the best IHC videos out there. That door video was great. It’s surprising how similar your doors are to my 39 D15. All of the problems you’re going through are things I need to fix. Thanks for taking the time to post these. I’ll stay tuned.
Excellent video. I love how you explain what you're doing as you are doing it. What I do to lubricate the window crank (or door latch) mechanism is to immerse it in a 5 gal bucket of used transmission fluid I keep for just that purpose. The detergent agents in the tranny fluid will break down the old grease & dirt buildup, and lubricate any rust accumulation. After it cranks freely, I blow the ATF off use compressed air, then spray white lithium grease into the gear mechanism, spring, and pivot points. To lubricate the window tracks, I roll the window all the way down and shoot some silicone based spray down both sides of the front & rear tracks and across the inner & outer felt. By the way... where do you get the 3M tape you use?
Parts like window mechanism dont use grease and very little oil as dust and particles will stick and that's what causes bind ups, they get clogged and it's not cleaned .the only time someone looks at it is when its clogged and the people think force will fix it untill it is broken, and that usually from over greasing or to much oil as it tends to run and go sticky.clean of excess oil and dont use grease.
You're absolutely right Free all is the best i've used in 45 years as a Heavy Equipment Technician
