Thanks for posting this. I lost a bit of skin getting what was left of one broken window and more getting the non-broken but very rusted drivers window out. This will make it easier when it's time to fit the new guides and glass.

Yeah, the next strap of getting the broken glass (or even non-broken glass) out of the window carriers can be a real chore. It helps to soak them in Free All for a few days.

What's the best way to separate the glass from the carrier? Thanks. Love your videos very informative.

Hey, that’s not a fun job. First, soak the entire carrier in penetrating oil. As always, I suggest FreeAll- it just works better than anything else I’ve used. Anyway, spray it along where the window meets the carrier and let the carrier soak with the window right side up for a day or two, then upside down and spray in between the carrier and the glass and let it soak. The carriers tend to corrode and rust after several decades. After it’s soaked for a good long time, there are two different ways to separate the glass, you just have to see which works best. First, the method I use the most is to hold the window up on end so the carrier is facing straight up and down- wear gloves & goggles and hold it securely- then tap the carrier with a dead blow hammer, sliding it along the glass so that you’re never actually striking the glass. This method is most effective if you work on the ends of the carrier to get the most leverage on it. The second method is usually what I resort to if the window is already busted or after the first method gets some movement. Wearing gloves and goggles, try and work a long flathead screwdriver in between the glass and the carrier, lever out on the screwdriver as you go and see if you can get some movement. If not, don’t force it, the goal is not to break the glass. After typing all this out, I feel like I should make a video about just this! Good luck!

@@BareKnuckleBinder Thanks. I'll soak it daily and try it in a week. I like free all but have just found a new product that is pretty good. The brand name is Angry Farmer penetrant oil. Good stuff. My truck is a 47 kb5. I'm a chevy guy but love this body style. Again Thanks for the great informational videos keep up the good work people appreciate your knowledge I know I do. Can you possibly make a video on pulling the windshield frame I assume you pull the 2 nuts on each hinge but not sure about the crank pivot area.

@@travis4096 I’m gonna have to try that Angry Farmer stuff! Windshield removal is just the two pairs of bolts & acorn nuts at the top and then two pairs of screws on the bottom. You’ll have to crank the windshield out with the hand crank on the dash to access those lower screws.

Where did you find replacement springs? I was thinking a Chevrolet might work but haven't tried it
