Just had my abdominal hysterectomy a week ago, they just ask how I've been the level of pain and prescribed meds while I was recovering, they only advice soft diet which consist of bland congee or soups and a side of fruit which is either banana or pineapple, other than that they did not give anything else, they prescribed me medicines when I was discharged and check up this week, they were careful with the meds provided because I just had my heart ablation a month earlier

Thank you Michelle. I had hysterectomy 5 years ago, cystocele 4 years ago and 6 weeks ago rectocele. I have celiac disease, chronic constipation, GERD. I need really be careful with food and you help me to understand.
October 3. 2022 I had my uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, appendix, portion of my intestines removed and my rectum was attached to my uterus so that had to be repaired. Mam Michelle.. Your videos are very informative and helpful to us, who have undergone hysterectomy... It means a lot to be well informed.. THANK YOU SO MUCH
@Nature Girl yes exactly - 2 eggs = 1 serve, who would have thought the body doesn't store protein. I've started having eggs for breakfast for this reason, all the best to you!
This diet should have been given by doctors from a young age, not once it’s too late 🤔 Thankfully I cancelled a unnecessary full hysterectomy and shrunk a 11cm fibroid naturally. Like I said, we as women should have been taught about our bodies and through the stages we go to.
Soo helpful! Clear & concise..Thanks so much!..on my week one after surgery..i was trying to eat only soups fearing painful constipation but after your video i've realized i need more protein & to balance fiber intake..this video is really good ..thanks for sharing yor knowledge🙏💖🌈
Thank you Michelle. Your videos are so helpful. I had hysterectomy and oophorectomy 3 weeks ago. How about citrus fruits and spices, e.g. turmeric, ginger and chillies? Spices seem to help with pain and constipation, but I wonder if it makes bloating worse. Love yoghurt and milk, but could not eat/drink I it without causing more bloating in the first 2 weeks.
@Val P. yes and yes Val, spices can help with bowel motility however they are also potential causes of gas and bloating. You will find that MirLAX will keep the stool soft without the bloating, it's an excellent stool softener and promotes gut motility without causing dependency. Just check with your pharmacist first, many women are routinely placed on an osmotic laxative post op for at least 6 weeks. You may have had some temporary lactose intolerance post op, lactose free milk and yogurt can help with this in the early stages too. Hope this info helps and all the best for your recovery
@@michellephysio Thanks Michelle. I did not know temporary lactose intolerance was a thing! I was given something similar to soften stool for 14 days only. In the last couple of days it seems ok, perhaps due to the beetroot soup I had on both days. : )
I really feel that I was unprepared for my hysterectomy or maybe even deceived. I’m searching for ways to relieve my pain after 3 weeks on Monday. Good thing I’m allergic to practically everything. My food list is very small. I was already post meno. No hot flashes or anything of the such. Just a lot of freakin pain.
Hi Michelle! Love probiotic and gut-friendly food! Keepign that stool moving.... so important! Great tips for recovery! Thanks so much! SEE YOU SOON! YO AND VAGINIA 🌸
I had a full hysterectomy 2 months ago and I've noticed I now have an intolerance to certain foods like egg whites, salad, .. mostly all foods except water. Everything goes right through my colon. Not sure if I should consult a gastroenterologist if it might be a more severe issue.
Thanks for the video. So glad I found your channel. Will prune or pear juice help with softening stools and not produce much gas as compared to dried prune and raw pear?
I had my full hysterectomy in November last year and want to lose weight. I have tried exercise and had pain in the abdomen area so have stopped. Would you be able to give me advise on exercises and a diet program I can use to lose weight?
@Shanaella Shantie Kawi yes this is a common and troubling issue many women face. In terms of exercises, the best exercises are usually low-impact cardio exercises such as stationary bike. Wearing good support briefs can help if you intend to walk or use an elliptical machine for weight management. In terms of diet, the regular dietary advice applies along the lines of a Mediterranean style diet and you may like to watch this video for more information where I talk with a dietician about weight management (disregard the fact that this is for men - same applies for women) ruclips.net/video/CGF8Co570ec/видео.html
Hey Michelle, every time I go toilet my body tenses up and anus closes, my body fights the urge to go toilet…this is because I’m suffering from an Amal fissure, do you know how I can break out of this cycle, it’s really hard to deal with and I don’t know what to do anymore, thanks
@Jake Nikiforidis yes this is a problem and I understand what you’re saying. There are a number of things to do to manage fissure and bowel emptying 1. Stool softeners are critical and for a good 3 months while the fissure heals 2. Use a topical rectal cream/ointment usually containing glyceryl trinitrate can relieve pain and promote healing (speak with the pharmacist) as these can provide pain relief during emptying and finally use the moo to poo technique focusing on the abdo bulge forward during emptying as doing this relaxes the anal sphincter see here ruclips.net/video/QDk93cvZAuk/видео.html hope all this helps you understand the way forward to manage Jake, all the best 🙏
Hello. I came up here and read your experience about your surgery. I also undergo surgery. They removed my whole uterine together with both ovaries because of endometriosis. Im now in a third week of my recovery. Im experiencing fart time to time and pooping occasionally because my diet is more on veggies, one egg evey meal and small portion of meat and fish. Im just wondering why is my poop is dark. Tho it's not watery. Ita a bit solid but it's black. I stop taking vitamins that might cause stool darkening. (Black) like iron supplements. But it's just the same color as of now. Do you experience the same? How😂are😂you now? Sorry for my English. Im not fluent .

Please help!!!
@Brand Execute yes beetroot juice can make the stool appear red, simple way to check is to stop drinking the juice for a couple of days and note the colour. If it continues to appear red then see your doctor for assessment

What hormones did you use for the hot flashes? I would love to try something until these flashes subside! Btw I’m 51!
How long did it take you to recover? I have the same type of surgery in December. Wondering if I can work from home one week after?
I wish I found you 8 month ago, went through 2 procedures starting with oophorectomy then 2 month after that hysterectomy and omentectomy and yes I am now one of those individuals who find food just a painful experience. My chemo didn’t make it any easier….but thank you for this.
Post recovery going into my one week and glad to know that I am eating some right foods. Thank you for the informative nutritious video which I didn’t get at discharge so I have to do my own research.
@Pvongvisay I'm glad the video was informative for you. Researching and being informed about your post-recovery diet is a proactive step towards healing. Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery! 🙏 ❤️
Thanks

Hi Michelle, thankyou so much for all these great free videos. I watched a few before my pelvic repair 15 years post hysterectomy last week and this one is fabulous as well. Great to see the hospital menu had improved a lot this time- fresh fruit much more available. 🙏thank you again , Chris, South Australia
Seeing this two weeks post op, very useful. Thank you.
@anelebukhosini2442 you're welcome! I'm glad to hear that you found the video useful for your post-op recovery. Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery!🙏

@@michellephysio yeah. Recovering. All good. 🙏🏻👍
Marshmallow root helps me. I discovered that I had severe pain when I ate advocado and greens. The pain went all the way up my back and shoulders. Sea moss gave me horrible pain too. 😢
Great practical information as nobody in hospital environment talk about the utmost importance of food for a safe recovery. As a health coach I much appreciate your work.
@bernadettebisseling It's wonderful to hear that you found the information helpful! Thank you for your kind words and for the work you do to promote health and well-being.❤️🌺
What a coincidence, I was not even looking and I run into your video.I'll have Laparoscopy in 10 days.My doctor told me yesterday about constipation.Thank you so much for all the information on this video!!It will help my husband know what to cook for me😅
@ilzasales5108 my pleasure! I'm so glad you found the video helpful ahead of your laparoscopy. A well-planned diet can indeed play a significant role in post-surgery recovery, especially in managing constipation. I love your videos. I cut out pears, prunes and apples and tummy is way less gassy. Reaching for more low FODMAPS. Sorry about the multiple comments.
@Nature Girl yes doesn't it make a huge difference, I found the same thing. It took me a long time to learn that high fructose fruits made me really gassy by the end of the day whereas I can eat Kiwi Fruit and papaya no problems at all. I'm really so glad to read this helps you too 🙏❤️
Thank you for helping me with important information before and after my hysterectomy. It was soooooo helpful. You are an Angel 😇 ❤xx

This is so very helpful, just had my procedure and greatly appreciate this information. In the US doctors and hospitals give you zero diet advice.

@barbcosgrove64 I'm so glad to help you - Thanks so much for your kind feedback. All the best for your recovery 🙏
I've been doing a deep dive on my procedure which is coming up on 5/18. This is the 1st one to talk exclusively about food intake post op. I am making a grocery run before surgery and now know what to buy. I love Kombucha. So will definitely stock up on that. Thank you for the information.
@tawannamartin5548 isn't it surprising that we often don't think about diet after major surgery, especially surgery that can impact the bowel and pelvic floor. Wishing you all the best for your operation, I hope your thorough preparation pays off for you

October 3. 2022 I had my uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, appendix, portion of my intestines removed and my rectum was attached to my uterus so that had to be repaired. No one told me how much my stomach would be bloated, 20 days+ later. It’s not painful just embarrassing and uncomfortable. I can’t seem to get rid of the bloating, unable to pass gas. I wish I had seen this video prior to surgery. Thank you so much. I’ve also found your video on exercise to do.
I had surgery in January 2018 it regrow again in 2020 March but shrink it naturally with . Dromo herbal Medications🥰🥰 his channel ruclips.net/channel/UCZJJR-LpB1SVD09hQkt1-GA
Probiotics make my stomach hurt. I took them for years then read they can make you bloated, gassy etc. stopped them and feel so much better.
Good advice for other surgeries too. (AFTER CARE, diet wise)
@susan3200 Absolutely! Thanks for pointing out the broader application of this advice. All the best to you!🙏

Thank you, my abdominal hysterectomy is this Friday.
Wishing you speedy recovery. Often and little is the best advise for drink and food. Try your food to be soft food like soups. From my experience the pain From the surgery is manageable but the pain from eating just a bit more was unbearable. All the best

Awesome. Love this. Noted- 2 eggs!
@Nature Girl yes exactly - 2 eggs = 1 serve, who would have thought the body doesn't store protein. I've started having eggs for breakfast for this reason, all the best to you!
Tofu is bad on the intestines if eaten too much…
also, prune juice softens the stool and is encouraged to drink after hysterectomy
Been 3 years in june and struggle to lose weight so decided to try portion control
This diet should have been given by doctors from a young age, not once it’s too late 🤔
Thankfully I cancelled a unnecessary full hysterectomy and shrunk a 11cm fibroid naturally. Like I said, we as women should have been taught about our bodies and through the stages we go to.
I am so impressed with your competence and a good-will to share these much-needed tips for hysterectomy recovery. Thank you so much!

@Rosiereal You're welcome!💖
Surgery in a few weeks thanks
had a hysterectomy 3 days ago! super tired and constipated and bloateddd
Michelle I have a question prunes produce gas?
Hi what kind of protein can I add to a smoothie? Can I add protein powder?
I really feel that I was unprepared for my hysterectomy or maybe even deceived. I’m searching for ways to relieve my pain after 3 weeks on Monday. Good thing I’m allergic to practically everything. My food list is very small. I was already post meno. No hot flashes or anything of the such. Just a lot of freakin pain.
What foods post for hysterectomy laparotomy and laparoscopic ports with diarrhea not constipation? Thank you ❤️
Hi Michelle! Love probiotic and gut-friendly food! Keepign that stool moving.... so important! Great tips for recovery! Thanks so much! SEE YOU SOON! YO AND VAGINIA 🌸
@Yolanda Tssng PT - YO AND VAGINA. Yes agreed the microbiome is all too often overlooked isn’t it for surgical recovery- all the best 🙏💜
What are examples of root vegetables to eat
I had a full hysterectomy 2 months ago and I've noticed I now have an intolerance to certain foods like egg whites, salad, .. mostly all foods except water. Everything goes right through my colon. Not sure if I should consult a gastroenterologist if it might be a more severe issue.
Is plant protein ok?
Thank you for the video
i would like to ask what you think about organic keifir for smoothies ? cause i don’t like to eat fruits
Thanks for the video. So glad I found your channel. Will prune or pear juice help with softening stools and not produce much gas as compared to dried prune and raw pear?
Banana are they good as well
What about nausea 😫
Thank you

Hello mam
I am noor from india
I have undergone uterus surgery i would like to know about food exercise and the way to sleep
Is it okay to drink sports drinks like Gatorade after a hysterectomy?
Thanks Michelle, keep up the great content 👍🏻
@Jake Nikiforidis my pleasure! I will for sure and thank you! Appreciate your feedback and support. All the best!
Is prune or plum juice ok ?
@CS-ow4gl Hi there prune juice is often great for stool softening, all the best!
How to avoid this problem when urinating very urgently once every 15 minutes
please guide me recovery from this issue
I have TOO many allergies. This doesn’t work for me. Thanks for sharing tho. I’m sure it can help someone without all the allergies.
Allergens
Referring all my female friends to this video. They don’t have the severe allergens I suffer with. No one likes to talk “GUT MICROBIOMES” That’s exactly what caught my attention to this video.
Dr. I keep waking up to urinate, intermittent burning of the thighs, bubbly urine but no protein, intermittent pain on the right side of back and my A1C is 5.2, Urine is 8 which is high, BUN/creatinine Ratio is 8 which is one point lower than last year, cholesterol total is 241 while the LDL is 174, stool has been looking bloody after drinking Lakewood Beet Juice and I’m not sure if that’s normal. Please help!!!
Consuming beets colors your urine and even your poop. This is probably what's causing the bloody-looking urine.
@Brand Execute yes beetroot juice can make the stool appear red, simple way to check is to stop drinking the juice for a couple of days and note the colour. If it continues to appear red then see your doctor for assessment
I had hysterectomy 5 mos ago. My gut became so sensitive after and vaginal issues to like dryness. I have a histry pf endo removed and i wonder whats the best diet
