    I know everyone tends to focus on the Fallen and Prima, but I think it would genuinely be really cool to have a toyline that fills out the rest of the thirteen (and not just as re-paints)

    My personal canon makes the Thirteen’s membership this:
    *Prima* (leader of the Thirteen; first to be created by Primus; lacks an alternate mode; a bit holier than thou; wields the Light Legend, a powerful sword capable of casting out Unicron’s corruption)
    *Megatronus Prime* (the Thirteen’s strongest warrior and spouse of Solus; bickers with Prima a lot; the “irritable but deep down he cares” type; strong sense of justice; very stubborn; has the vaporizing Requiem Blaster strapped to his forearm)
    *Solus Prime* (the lone female of the Thirteen, their blacksmith, and Megatronus’s beloved; an enthusiastic tinkerer too curious for her own good; wields her mighty Forgehammer when constructing things or in combat)
    *Nexus Prime* (the first gestalt Cybertronian composed of five currently-unnamed bots; struggling to figure out identities for himself and his components; bears the Enigma of Combination, a relic that allows those who come into contact with it to become combiners like himself)
    *Onyx Prime* (the first Cybertronian with a beast mode; deeply spiritual and deeply compassionate; possesses the Triptych Mask that allows him to project his consciousness across the universe)
    *Amalgamous Prime* (the first multi-changer; a scatterbrained and laidback individual; wields the Chaos Scythe, a weapon that can become whatever the user can imagine)
    *Alchemist Prime* (cheery elemental and metallurgist; known to brew some very potent Energon mixes; wears the powerful Lenses over his eyes which let him see the physical and spiritual aspects of the universe in perfect harmony)
    *Alpha Trion* (chronicler of Cybertron’s history; the Moses of the bunch; blessed with the Quill and author of the Cybertronian holy book the Covenant of Primus)
    *Liege Maximo* (pragmatic and manipulative strategist; a firm believer in Cybertronian supremacy; dangerously charismatic; uses his Liegian Darts to convert others to his way of thinking)
    *Mortilus Prime* (the personification of death as a concept; surprisingly values life an awful lot; wields the twin Sickles of Life and Death that represent the circle of life)
    *Vector Prime* (guardian over space and time; somewhat disconnected from his brethren because of his work requiring him to exist outside of time; uses the Sandglass to traverse through time)
    *Micronus Prime* (the first “Mini-Con”; takes himself incredibly seriously ignoring his small size; capable of empowering others using his Chimera Stone and a technique known as “Powerlinxing”)
    *Trecerus Prime* (the youngest of the Thirteen; a turbo-revving hot-rodding lad trying to find his place in the world; chose to be reborn as a normal Cybertronian)

      @@tomhur1 It'd make more sense than "The Arisen" being reborn as Optimus, anyway. I'm leaning more towards the IDW2 version of the Thirteenth, where they're the Matrix's true and final bearer. And what exactly was Hot Rod in the 86 movie? The Chosen One, the one destined to destroy the Chaos-Bringer.
      I actually have an entire Thirteen-themed comic miniseries concept (complete with 13 issues) ready. The idea is to tell what amounts to the Transformers' Pentateuch- their creation, fall, the birth of the Transformers as a race, and their journey from slavery under the Quintessons to their "promised land". It'd also play with the Thirteen's usual mythos, casting familiar faces in new roles and even outright subverting their traditional roles (Megatronus dies, becoming "The Fallen" by virtue of being the first Transformer to die, and is survived by Solus).

    Personally I prefer the "multiversal Thirteen" compared to the Covenant Thirteen. Making Alpha Trion and Optimus members of the Thirteen was just a cheap retcon. Also Habro refusing to classify Logos Prime among the Thirteen simply because he was created by Takara (yes, they really said that) is such unnecessary levels of pettiness. IMO he'd actually be one of the best characters to use for the new toyline, I'd love to see a modern update of the Cybertron Soundwave/Soundblaster toy

    • @OptimusPhillip
      @OptimusPhillip 8 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah. When I wrote my own version of the Transformers creation myth, I primarily pulled from the Multiversal roster. Mostly because I saw the Covenant Thirteen as being too closely aligned with the... Aligned fiction. Though I did pull from that version in a few areas. Namely, I used Quintus Prime over Mortilus, incorporated aspects of the Solus and Megatronus love story, and I infused a little bit of Alpha Trion into Solomus Prime.
      That said, I put my own spin on a lot of things, mostly to make it feel more like a fleshed out polytheistic pantheon, rather than a "God and angels versus Satan and demons" thing.

    The Thirteen is one of those concepts that seems like it should be really cool, but rarely actually is. Most of the lore surrounding them is lackluster at best, and it really leans into this cosmic angle that I feel just doesn't work most of the time in Transformers. It didn't help that the whole multiversal angle, which was meant to make them seem cooler, just made them a lot more conceptually messy.
    Then again, part of it for me might just be that Alternity took "Transformers as cosmic-scale gods" and sold it in a way that no Thirteen story ever has.

Onyx Primal representing the beast formers, Amalgamous Prime representing the shifters (Triple changers and above) and so on. But because Prima is used in so many female idioms (Prima Ballerina, Primadonna) I always saw her as female too.
    I hope that by then we can have a real story injected into the toyline. Legacy has been mostly adrift because we have favs from all these continuities, but they do nothing with each. Nothing with the Junkions facing off against the Insecticons or G2 as a long forgotten tribe of Transformers returning to the fold. just figures on the blank canvas of a barren wasteland. How boring?

The name of the Thirteenth Prime is unknown specifically so nobody makes the connection in canon.

  • @RialVestro

    I have my own thoughts about the 13... There's parts of it I do actually like and others I think don't really work at all. Conceptually the idea of the first Primes or the first Transformers is really good, I'd love to see it elaborated on more. That's all well and good.
    I do however take issue with the idea that there's specifically 13 of them which feels very limiting as far as story potential. Plus they've already broken that rule multiple times, in the live action films there's only 7 of them. They also keep changing their status, like we now know them as the original Primes, they all share that title but originally they weren't all Primes, some of them were, others weren't. Alpha Trion originally was never intended to be a Prime but he was always depicted as one of the first Transformers. There's another reason the number makes no sense which I'll get into later.
    So now I'll get into my thoughts on each of the Primes individually...

    • @RialVestro
      @RialVestro 8 месяцев назад +2

      Prima being the first Prime... it's not really clear if his name is meant to be a variation on Prime like Primus and Primal or if his full name is meant to be Prima Prime. If his name is a variation and it's just Prima then wouldn't that technically make Primus himself the first Prime? It would make more sense for Prima to be the first if his full name was Prima Prime but then it sounds a little bit redundant.
      Other than what exactly his name is being slightly confusing I don't really have an issue with Prima himself. I do however take an issue with the Matrix if leadership specifically in the "Aligned continuity". G1 had a much better idea with the Matrix being passed from one Autobot leader to the next and we don't really have a full list of everyone who has ever held it but unfortunately for the Aligned continuity we do and it's the most boring thing ever. According to the Covenant of Primus the Autobot Matrix of Leadership has only ever been held by all of THREE characters. Prima to Sentinel Prime to Optimus Prime. That's it, that's the full complete list of every Prime to have ever held the Matrix. Which considering Optimus is one of the 13 means there are officially a grand total of 14 Primes in all of Cybertron's history and only 1 of them is not one of the original 13. That sort of takes all the mystery and gravitas behind the artifact when there is literally just ONE guy standing between Prima and Optimus.
      BTW I don't really believe that the "Aligned" continuity even really exists because the WfC/FoC video games called him Zeta Prime not Sentinel Prime. There's also fiction that tries to retcon it to Sentinel Zeta Prime being his full name to make the two completely different names work but it's pretty clear they're literally two entirely different characters. How is there a legacy of Primes who have held the Matrix of Leadership if that legacy is literally just 3 dudes, two of which are treated as Demi-gods. There were a lot more guys between Prima and Optimus in the G1 continuity. Sentinel was only the most recent before Optimus in a long line of Autobots not literally the next in line after Prima.

      Vector Prime... perfect, no issues with him specifically but there will be an issue I'm going to bring up later.

    • @RialVestro
      @RialVestro 8 месяцев назад +2

      Alpha Trion, nearly perfect... as I hinted in the first post, I have no issues with Alpha Trion being one of the original Transformers... it is an issue however making him a Prime. Like he's literally never been addressed as Alpha Trion Prime even when he's officially classified as a Prime.
      There's also an issue with the fact that Alpha Trion isn't even his original name, it's A-3. So is it A-3 Prime? This is again why I hate the idea of the Primes being Multiversal singularities because in order for that to make any sense A-3 has to be cannon in every continuity not just the G1 Cartoon. And it can't be cannon in every continuity if different continuities actively contradict each other as to who exactly Alpha Trion is. Then there's also the SG version who is a psychotic killer so dangerous even the other SG Autobots are afraid of him. That obviously can't be the same guy as the heroic Alpha Trion.

    • @RialVestro

      Solus Prime, the first female transformer. The Covenant of Primus explains that male and female is deviated typically at 1:1 ratio with little exceptions here and there but for Transformers it's a 12:1 ratio explain why there is only one female among the 13 and why female Transformers are so rare in general. It's worth pointing out here that the actual real life author of the Covenant of Primus is a woman so this isn't a man writing in an excuse for fembots to exist, this is a woman writing it. Though she does write the book entirely from the perspective of Alpha Trion writing it which is actually one of my favorite things about the book.
      Anyway... there is one issue here with Solus being the first Female Transformer... the fact that keeping Alpha Trion as one of the first Transformers also means that in G1 continuity Beta was the first Fembot. She was A-3's girlfriend in the episode "Forever is a Long Time Coming." They could retcon Beta and Solus to be the same character but that would create other problems.
      Oh and I'm Greek so I'm legally obligated to point this out... Solus Prime is basically a gender bent robotic Hephaestus. She literally has the same role in the 13 as Hephaestus had among the Olympians, creating the weapons of all the other gods.

    • @RialVestro
      @RialVestro 8 месяцев назад +2

      Micronus Prime being the first Mini-con except he isn't... And this where there is conflict with both Vector Prime and Solus Prime.
      Vector Prime famously has a Mini-con partner in Cybertron who is arguably just as old as he is so Safeguard is the first Mini-con. Then there's the issue with the fact that Vector Prime's toy was repainted for Botcon into Alpha Trion and Safeguard became Beta Maxx as a reference to Beta from the G1 cartoon... so Beta Maxx is both the first Fembot and the first Mini-con...
      So we now have 2 characters who can compete for the title of the first Fembot and 3 characters who could be called the first Mini-con.
      I'd also like to point out that according to Aligned continuity Primus created the 13 which means he created Micronus but in the Unicron Trilogy it's said that Unicron created the Mini-con faction, not Primus so again the whole multiversal singularity thing doesn't work because the origin of the Mini-cons changes based on which continuity you're looking at.

    This might sound dumb, but am I the only one who kinda wants Leige Maximo to be a Prime created by Unicron?
    Just saying, if he’s going to be Transformers Loki, then it would make sense if he was the one member of the group who wasn’t even of the same race as them; since most versions of Loki have him be descended from a separate group of beings. Actually, if LM is Loki…then which of The Primes is Odin?

    I'm still very confused about how actual toys of the Thirteen are supposed to square with the lore. Like, Amalgamous Prime's artifact is the original T-Cog, right? So did all the other Primes obtain alt modes through his power? And is Onyx Prime's centaur mode his robot mode or his beast mode?
    Also it's weird how much the story of the Thirteen so often centers on the Schism, when like ten or eleven of them are almost pure good?

    • @SilverHairedFreak25
      @SilverHairedFreak25 8 месяцев назад +1

      Exactly. With a few exceptions, they're nothing more than lore. Just a few names and designs with little substance about them aside from a history lesson.
      It's why Vector Prime is my favorite of the group. He actually got a spotlight as one of the main cast members in a series, and proved to be a great character in his own right. He was treated as a big deal, sure, but not so big that he wasn't above the rest of the cast. He could interact and form bonds with his allies, which led to a heartbreaking heroic sacrifice so Optimus and the Autobots could save the universe from the Unicron Singularity. Aside from maybe Alchemist Prime in Cyberverse, you don't really see the others fleshed out in a similar way.
