the intro riff on the studio recording just goes to show how well Petrucci translates his musical statements, if "too original" describes his style haha i almost can't criticize them, and wouldn't venture to.
I think this may have been also during the last parts of James' recovery from vocal chord rupture. He claims he didn't really feel right until the final parts of this tour.

Yeah I think that he actually sounded pretty good hear only slightly out of tune in a lot places. But overall this was a pretty solid one for him
