  • For 2022 the Infiniti QX60 and Acura MDX both got significant updates which means it's time for a Showdown. The 2022 Infiniti QX60 Sensory AWD versus the 2022 Acura MDX Type S SH-AWD.
    Both luxury brands of popular Japanese automakers Infiniti and Acura have updated their popular midsize SUVs for 2022, with each taking a slightly different approach to this very competitive segment. We happened to have both vehicles in our garage this week which was the perfect recipe for a Showdown. We're looking at the all-new 2022 Infiniti QX60 Sensory AWD vs the 2022 Acura MDX Type S SH-AWD. Now we know the MDX Type S is the performance variant but we want to see what both brands have to offer, and if speed and sport is your focus then the Acura can serve your needs.
    We go over what's important for buyers when looking at these two midsize luxury SUVs including the engine and transmission specs, towing capacities, interior and exterior dimensions, and the core features that each offers for buyers. Since both are new for 2022 and both come from luxury Japanese brands it makes sense to be comparing them, but what we found was a lot of the new features are more comparable than we thought. Each SUV has a complete suite of enhanced safety tech such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, 360º cameras, rear cross traffic alert, rear seat occupancy alert, auto high beams, and much more.
    What also surprised us were the interior features, such as both vehicles having 10+" Head-Up Displays, dual 12.3" infotainment and gauge cluster screens, heated, ventilated, massaging, and memory front seats, panoramic sunroofs, rear window sun shades, tri-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, open pore wood trim with leather wrapped dashboards, and much more. In fact these two vehicles have a lot more in common than they have different. We go over some of the features each one has along with buying reasons for either one.
    We then take the 2022 Infiniti QX60 Sensory AWD on a road test to talk about the fuel economy test results for both vehicles along with our overall impression of the QX60 as a daily driver. We talk about the Zero Gravity seats, overall ride comfort and quietness, and the audio system. Since we drive these vehicles for a week and at the same time we get a good idea of how each one compares, so we spend a lot of time talking about the direct differences.
    We then take the 2022 Acura MDX Type S SH-AWD on the road to discuss how this SUV compares, while hinting at the obvious performance differences with the Type S version. We go over the seat comfort, road and drive handling, and some of the reasons why we'd pick the Acura over the Infiniti.

      Due to the price range after dealer ADM, the Type S got pushed out my price point by a few grand on what I felt comfortable paying without sacrificing lifestyle, so I had to settle for the A-Spec. Talk about buyers remorse. Especially after test driving the Type S. Type S was a fun vehicle to drive. The A-Spec not so much. Still a nice vehicle (I have the blue exterior on red interior), but anyone looking at the MDX, go Type S, or go home because you will be very disappointed with the 3.5L that comes in the other trims. Plus the HUD, heated steering wheel, massage seats you get in the advance Type S. I should have just waited maybe another month or 2 and give a little more money down.

      Good points, it's hard to truly find the perfect car unfortunately as small things end up getting left out, like you mentioned you're looking for specific things but on different trims. I’m always amazed at how Infiniti always seems to build a far more classy and luxury looking interior to Acura. An Infiniti interior reminds me of people that pay $30-70,000 for a brand new piano; Nissan’s interiors rarely look this good. On the other hand, because Honda’s cars are constantly becoming more luxurious and upmarket with each new model, Acura’s interiors are only marginally more luxurious than Audi’s, Lexus’s, and Honda’s.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  2 года назад +1

      Those are certainly good points. The MDX’s interior does feel like the same basic setup as the Honda Clarity or Accord. Infiniti certainly did a nice job on the interior of this one, having the leather trim everywhere was a good move on top of changing up the ergonomics of the layout.

    Between the two, the MDX beats the QX60 in engine reliability and higher resale value after 5 years. The MDX should accelerate faster since it’s lighter in weight; it drives like a big sedan. The QX60 is heavier and bulkier so it would tow more and could handle rough weather better. It also costs less than the MDX so affordability is at play here. As for cabin, the QX60 lacks ambient lighting and isn’t as quiet as the MDX, but it is roomier and the infotainment system is touchscreen unlike the MDX. Everything else is subjective so it really depends on the individual’s preferences.

    The Acura feels like a Honda inside. Once again didn’t do enough to separate itself as their luxury brand. Uncomfortable seats, crappy interior, plastic everywhere, just cheap feeling. The window controls for example are straight Honda looking, it’s your luxury SUV, you can’t add a little aluminum? The Infiniti has wayyyy more features and optimization in fit n finish. Just felt more premium in every sense. Around the same price too.

    Like a pretty woman, I don’t get caught up in what she looks like. The real test will be how much time will I spend arguing with the dealership because they sold me junk. Both Acura and Nissan have been historically known for transmission failure. The Acura is already coming from the factory with electronic failures that are said to be “normal”. Having said that, the German competition is 10 times worse. I’ll stick with my RX 350. If you take care of your Toyota’s, they never stop💯

    Both of these suck big time! Get an FX45/FX50S instead. Oh wait! Those have long been discontinued. Oh well, for this kind of money, I'd reach slightly deeper into my pocket and get a GV80. It's technically superior to both of these and definitely worth the premium. Same with the Lincoln Aviator (albeit I'd never touch a Ford product).

    • @rhar1044
      @rhar1044 Год назад

      GV80 has a class action lawsuit for it's crappy powertrain. Also lost to the MDX Type-S in a drag race. Hyundai marks up all cars by 10-20 grand. Hyundai has the worst customer service in the car business.

    • @philhenderson3516
      @philhenderson3516 Год назад +1

      @@rhar1044As if Acura hasn't had problems, let alone Infiniti. Gimme a break! The prior gen MDX was plagued with transmission issues and the Infiniti is nothing but an embarrassment. Nowhere near in style nor quality to the groundbreaking FX35/45/50. Hyundai ain't perfect either but they've made substantial progress in the past 10 years, and the fact that they can come out with a product as the GV80 shows you how determined they are in surpassing their rivals, even if the reliability isn't still quite up to par. The GV80 has the all the right ingredients to play in the luxury segment. Something the Acura and the Infiniti will never have because of their own selfish and greedy ways!

    I am Most Definitely not Understanding this comparison with the two trims... totally two different eng, two different prices, etc etc. I watched the Video an your statement in the first 3-4mins or so about the comparison still doesn't justify the two comparison IMO....and for those reasons, I had to thumbs down this video, but I like the MDX TypeS, and the only AutoGraph QX60, However there just might be a QX60 Redsport coming soon...maybe THEN, you can compare it to the MDX Type S
