Thanks for posting! This video will come in handy when me and a buddy start installing a Bluetooth Dual radio in his 2001 S10 this weekend. We are also going to rewire the original stereo connector back in while we’re at it since the previous owners of his vehicle cut that out. We were lucky to find both the original connector and the aftermarket connector in the junkyard hahaha. Since he already had an aftermarket radio in there, we will be able to reuse the dash kit and the antenna wire.
Great video, looks like it’s installed a bit low though. It should be secured through the middle bracket on the right and bottom bracket on the left. I just installed one on a 2000 blazer.
you were going all slow and then all of a sudden you hit turbo mode and hauled ass like it was lunch time lol.i saw what i needed to see though, thanks, needed to see what model kit to buy, bolts on the side.type
If you are installing a single Din radio in a 94-97 S10 or Blazer , it will have a factory pocket below factory radio and climate control panel is beside radio not below it. Removal of factory radio and installation of new one is different than 98-2004 models. Scosche makes a kit for these older trucks that comes with a new pocket and it's a GM1515B . Metra makes one similar that is a 99-3045 . Metra also makes a model without the pocket that is a 99-3043 .. Hope this is helpful for you guys that have the early Gen. 2 trucks.
In the video it shows a scosche box and in your description it says you used Metra. Was wondering which one you used? at the moment I'm having a hell of a time trying to find some that fits my 99 s10 dash and any info helps man
Getting ready to swap out 2003 S10 factory CD with RDS. Wondering how the door chimes work? It is a base truck, no ONSTAR, non-bose, no factory amp, no navagation, no wheel controls or other features they have now. Some forums say you need data bus harness, other say use the basic harness and you lose the door chimes, and I have seen other forums that say no issues, just works like factory head unit. Sounds like the chime is coming from dash and not from the speakers. Haven't taken the dash out to confirm and local stereo shop wants to sell me the $99 harness, I don't see a need for it just to retain factory chime. I have found a $25 data bus chime harness listed for my truck. Is there a way to identify before I start working on it? I've installed several stereos in pre-2002 vehicles, first one that I have seen so many conflicting answers.
Just replaced the stereo on my 98 blazer. It works great but now my speedometer and odometer no longer work. Reinstalled the original stereo and my speedometer and odometer work again. Figured out it has to do with my vss because my original radio has the volume speed control function. My question is how do I bypass that so my speedometer will work again. I have tried to remove it and cover it so it won’t be grounded but that does not work.
You probably figured it out but there is a metal bracket that holds the back end of the factory stereo in place which may need to be cut. These dash kits push the whole head unit outwards though.
Noticed you skipped bolt above instrument cluster and radio looks as if it sticks way out causing issues for a column shift truck. Music is distracting as well.
Actually no , 94-97 ,trim bezel is screwed on and you have to loosen knee bolster to get to screws, ashtray has a screw to remove and the climate control has 4 screws to remove before you can remove the 4 screws that hold the radio bracket in place.
I am having huge problems trying to replace the stereo in my 1999 Chevy blazer I can’t find the correct wiring harness, I have looked everywhere, I’ve even been to an advanced audio store and they said that both of my power wires should plug directly into the wiring harness but there’s no way it will cause one plug only fits into the wiring harness please respond and help me out I have brand new Rockford fosgates that have been sitting in my room for awhile now... please help me
The stereo is a Sony CDX-GT24W and the wiring harness I don’t have the package it came in any more but i think it’s a 96-04 GM wiring harness and it said it fit a blazer
+ Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Parts linked in the description of the video!

I used a Metra WM-GMK03
Crutchfield sent me a 99-3043 with my radio , I don't like it cause it makes the nose of the radio stick out too far. It's made by Metra
What cord did you use for the auxiliary aka(the red and white cords) RCA?

I've got everything hooked up but no sound. Power and everything is good, but no sound?

Oh dang I’m gonna replace my stereo on my 98 blazer here soon I hope I don’t have that same issue
On sonic electronic website, it says that dash kit isn’t compatible with my 2000 blazer. Are you sure that’s the right kit in the description?
What bracket was used in this for the side mounts I have the kit and it won’t work. The part that goes in my dash is to big
What double din dash kit would I use. the kit I have doesn't seem to work. The new deck isn't as wide as oem.?
Antina hook up ?
I'm so tired of that intro commercial RUclips is using on every single video
Why u think its free? U have to pay if u dont want ads
Was there any brackets needing removed?
What if it has OnStar
Some cars need an electrical case because the security runs of the radio. Is that how a 98 blazer is?
Electrical case? not sure what you mean. No, you should be fine with the parts used. a 98 Blazer was pre-canbus data signal days.
Is there something you have to cut inside the dash? I have a 03 blazer that I’m putting in a after market stereo in
You probably figured it out but there is a metal bracket that holds the back end of the factory stereo in place which may need to be cut. These dash kits push the whole head unit outwards though.
What are all the adapters names for all the connections on the website Sonic Electronics?
Noticed you skipped bolt above instrument cluster and radio looks as if it sticks way out causing issues for a column shift truck. Music is distracting as well.
Do I do the same thing to a 1997 gmc jimmy?
Yep!
Actually no , 94-97 ,trim bezel is screwed on and you have to loosen knee bolster to get to screws, ashtray has a screw to remove and the climate control has 4 screws to remove before you can remove the 4 screws that hold the radio bracket in place.
Would this process work for a 2001 chevy S10?
Yes, this works for a "1998-2004" S10..

Okay, what radio are you trying to install, and what wiring harness adapter do you have?
The stereo is a Sony CDX-GT24W and the wiring harness I don’t have the package it came in any more but i think it’s a 96-04 GM wiring harness and it said it fit a blazer
Do you have the factory Bose system?
I don’t think I do but how would I know if i had the factory bose system or not
The inside speaker grills would say Bose
Did you have to cut out the bracket from old radio or does it unbolt
The factory radio just unbolts
Music is a bit loud
wat color is the power and ingnitIon wire
The factory or aftermarket colors?
Bro how the hell did you lift the steering wheel
Do u just match all the colors that go together or is there some kind of trick to it
Generally Yes, it always won't be a perfect match depending on brands, but you should be good.
What metra kit should I use to fit a double din into my 1.5 din S10?
The part we used is in the description. Usually the Metra 99-3043 would work great.
I have an extra wire set from the car is it because the after market had a CD player o what
Not sure what you are asking, sorry
All my cluster lights aren’t working after this, anybody have any ideas?
Same did you ever figure that out?
Oh..... Doesn't seem that difficult actually
I Didnt understand shyt I fried my battery...
Hehe you said butt...
tanks gud help
I hate butt connectors
ABSOLUTELY HATE THEM
Well, they are better than Scotch Locs........which isn't saying much.....
Terrible step by steps
