    Issue:
    The Patch workspace is missing in Fusion 360, and is no longer in the drop down.
    Causes:
    Fusion 360 is using a new User Interface where patch has been renamed to Surface.
    Solution:
    In the new User Interface, the Surface tab has replaced the Patch workspace as shown in the below image. The Surface tab can be found in the Design workspace.

    PLEASE tell what was the difference between extrude and extend? Both seemed to be used for the same purpose extending the faces. extend also did the same thing to the surface and extrude also did the same thing to the bottom surface.

  • @jefffield1402
    @jefffield1402 4 года назад +2

    I also had trouble with fixing the counter bore holes. I found I had to extrude the larger hole, extend the inner hole, split the 2 faces, and then I could delete them. But then I tried doing the extends with the design history off, then turning it on and deleting, it works. So the trick is to have the design history off until your ready to delete.

    Hey Kevin, thanks for the great tutorials, I am impressed again and again with every video that I see in this list! One question: I've started to look into photogrammetry (with phone camera as instructed by the Prusa blog) and I was wondering, since I place my object that I want to scan on a box (or similar), the mesh I get always has a hole at the bottom, sometimes also in other spots that are difficult to capture. Would I be able to close and fix these meshes like you showed in this video as well?

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  5 лет назад

      Hi, MrsGynny. That is a great question. You can definitely patch the model with these techniques. Most photogrammetry apps are going to output your file to an STL or OJB file. You will need to convert your file to a surface model. I just released a tutorial covering the conversion process that may be helpful to you - ruclips.net/video/pgWWVcM5YJY/видео.html
      I used to work with photogrammetry using the iSense 3D scanner. I'll have to eventually make this topic into a tutorial and show the patching/fixing process. Cheers, Kevin :)

    I was sent an obj that's two pieces that I made a solid components from, but one is a solid and the other is a surface model. Now I'm trying to make the surface one into a solid but I can't find what to patch or fix, everything seems ok and closed. Idk, what to do in this case?

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  4 года назад

      Hi, Some Lilliputian. A surface body will remain a surface body until it is completely closed (and can be turned into a solid). Therefore, it must have a hole or area somewhere that Fusion 360 isn't treating as closed geometry.
      Try to use the "Stitch" command and drag over the entire model to select all surfaces. If the stitch command works, it may close-off the model. Sometimes this method works, but if there is an issue with geometry there may be a chance Fusion 360 can't process or solve it.
      The second option would be to use the "Boundary Fill" command. You would need to create a box around the surface body and then select the inner part as the area to fill.
      Let me know if either of these methods works for you! Cheers, Kevin :)

    • @ohnuh
      @ohnuh 4 года назад +1

      @@ProductDesignOnline Hello Kevin, thank you for your fast reply. What I did in the end but I'm not sure if its correct is that I deleted and patched the surfaces that where touching one at a time. For more context I'm going to try to explain the shape... basically I had 2 surfaces touching that made an angle and where the common end point should form there was a gap I think, so by doing what I mentioned before then I was able to make a solid when the second patch was made.

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  4 года назад +1

      @@ohnuh There's nothing wrong with that process either! Sometimes it is just challenging as you can rebuild many parts of the model that weren't necessary.

    I'm unable to get the stitch to work and I think it may relate to the extrude command and newer version of Fusion 360. In order to do the extrude shown at 9:36, on the new version I need to change the type to thin extrude. This closes the hole but creates a solid body for that section as opposed to a surface body in the video. When I then try to stitch I can select the main body and the first hole that was patched but can not select the hole that was closed with the extrude. Anyone know if I'm missing something or what the process is in the new version?

    • @apsilonblue
      @apsilonblue 3 года назад

      Figured out where I was going wrong. For the extrude I was using the E keyboard shortcut but it's not contextual to the workspace you're in so that was triggering the solid body extrude command. Selecting it from the drop down as shown in the video gives you the surface extrude command and from there it worked as shown.
