All certification and degrees are what the government came up with to control and profit from the field. Take the medicine man for instance, he didn't charge people to learn from him, they just hung around him and made themselves useful while they watch and learn. All you need is common sense to know if someone knows what they are talking about in a field like life coaching but when it comes to life and death, you better make sure the guy has some background that proves his value like dr. Sebi

It has been so fun becoming a life coach. I have been a life coach for 20 years. Back then when you would tell people what you did they would look at you strangely. I have since coached 5000 people and helped 200 become life coaches. Wow-what a fantastic journey it has been!

I've listen to a lot of coaching videos. Many (possibly most) of them seem disconnected and are no more involved emotional in the conversation than a robot. You are very REAL. I can see that when you are listening to your clients you are actually involved in the conversation as a human, not as a rambling questionnaire. I'm sure you will do well as long as you keep your self confidence.
I would love to become a life couch but don't feel I have any specific skills/niches to offer, just a desire to see people prosper mentally and spiritually. Any advice to find a target audience would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for bringing up the costs of the certification programs! I still havent found the right program for me yet, and some part of my intuition told me that programs that cost less can be equally as informative. If the passion, intention, and self awareness/emotional intelligence is there, I truly believe we are already naturally gifted at serving and guiding, and the program is there to give organization to the structure :)
Hi Jade - I don't know if you've found your program yet, but please ask yourself what you want to be able to do by the end that you can't already do ... before you invest time or money. I agree, it's a hard one to assess. A lot of coaches I work with start out thinking they need some sort of certification only to discover that they don't. While the ICF is held in high regard and widely accepted, their is no governing body over life coaching. It isn't like becoming a lawyer where you have to pass the bar examination or like becoming a doctor. very good video. 👍🏽
This was such a fabulous video with so many gems! If I can offer a bit of feedback I would say that coaching is not new it’s been around for a very long time - just might be new and more accessible to US in recent years. Also, the BEST thing one can do to grow as a coach is to get a coach for themselves! Hire someone, pay them and Do your own work so that you show up more authentically and confidently as you start to grow your business. Great job sis!

That’s more-so the perspective I was speaking from when I made this video, that coaching in the United States as a profitable, accessible, and respected profession is still a fairly new thing, only really started with Tony Robbins in the 80’s. And even still, there are many out there who believe life coaching is a scam which speaks to the novelty of the idea to many. But indeed the practice of coaching alone has been around for quite some time, I’ve heard since the 1800s. And I agree! Hiring a coach at certain points in my business has helped me get results that probably would have taken twice as long with lots more mistakes and tears 😂

I think the question of whether certification helps is HOW it helps! If it helps your skills to be a better coach, that makes sense. But my concern is that many coaches spend a lot of time and money on certification in the hope that it will help with marketing their coaching. I've not seen any evidence of that. I will never recommend anyone to go to a coach who hasnt learnt how to take sessions. That person is sure not fit to gove you life changing techniques and methods to change your reality. I highly recommend going for a course. Even i took up a course and learnt a lot about psychology which i wouldnt have known if i hadnt taken up the course. You get exactly what scientific knowledge you need when you go for a course. Science is a huge subject and one doesnt know how much knowledge is necessary to be a good coach. Joining a course gives you the exact knowledge you need, all served. Plus you get a professional framework of how to begin a session, what issues to tackle forst, how to go ahead. A lot of knowledge that you otherwise will never get if you dont do a course.
Absolutely! If a person wants to learn how to coach full time and long-term (not just be a flash in the pan), a solid skillset and knowledge of how to attract and book clients is a must.
I always give my family members advice in certain situations and they don’t really listen to me then always come back saying I was right at first it was discouraging because I’m like why do you doubt me so much I’m very practical and I analyze situations well with and without emotion so I’m like you know what let me go help people who want the help ❤ and willing to pay for it too because I’m giving you gems for free and you all taking it for granted lol
I would love to become a life coaching self employed free individual. I am a support worker and I spend most of my time trying to guide the young people I look after. I feel as its now time for me to spread my wings and start a new chapter, getting rid of all my insecurities and make my dreams come true. I live in the UK but I am planning to move to Bulgaria, and I want to have a on line life coaching business to do at home, while living, instead of working myself silly to pay bills and stay afloat. @@kingdevine7374 If you’re serious about coaching, I would suggest participating in a business coaching program that focuses on helping you package your services as many coaching certification programs don’t teach how to package, market, and sell with very much depth. There are also free articles you can find with Google (e.g. EverCoach by Mindvalley). They may not give much concrete information but they can get you started until you’re ready for more targeted and intensive guidance.

I've found what makes a good coach is someone who can get the the root of a client's problem and provide transformation that impacts their life immediately and directly. This is more transformational life coaching but in my experience this is the type of coaching that allows a person to become full-time. Plus the referrals you get when you offer high level value fuel your consistent clients, getting to help others in impactful ways, and providing consistent income. The opposite of this is more "influencer coaching" where a person asks surface level questions, provides "homework" of reading books or watching videos, and gives positive affirmations that don't actually help the client past the surface level. These types of coaches typically exit the field in 14 months or so because they simply do not have the right training or guidance to help them get their business set up.
Good video thank you. There are many GREAT coach certification programs out there that are not a part of ICF credentialing. They are one body. But coaching is a sovereign industry of people helping people far beyond what the ICF has seen. For instance, I have been offering my coach training for over 10 years in transformational and psychedelic integration coaching, certifying over 1000, and its transformed coaches and clients in ways conventional life coaching hasn't even touched upon.

Oh yes, I absolutely had fears when I was first starting out, even despite having years of experience coaching in my 9 to 5, I was still worried. One of the things that helped is that I actually took on my first client for free. That way I could be confident that I could get results before I charged anyone a dime. That helped me get over some of those fears and relieve some of the pressure I was putting on myself to have it perfect the first time! Secondly you just have to push through fears and do the work, try your best, make your clients happy, and continue learning from any mistakes as you go! 💞

Hey Dawn, so happy you've found my channel and happy you're here! Tutors help students prepare for specific tests and exams, usually based on a tutor's expertise in the subject matter. The tutor is the expert while the student is not, and thus the student is soaking up all the knowledge the tutor is teaching them for a specific goal. Coaches, on the other hand, help people to understand bigger picture principles around a certain topic, and the skills they must develop to get to their goal. In coaching, the coach is not necessarily the expert, holding all the knowledge, but the person being coached is empowered to be the expert of themselves and their own lives. This creates a long-laster understanding of certain principles and concepts across multiple scenarios related to a client's goal. The coach is a vehicle, using communication strategies like powerful questioning, to help a person get to their goal in the way that works best for them. Hope this helps bring more clarity! 😊

Science is a huge subject and one doesnt know how much knowledge is necessary to be a good coach.
Joining a course gives you the exact knowledge you need, all served. Plus you get a professional framework of how to begin a session, what issues to tackle forst, how to go ahead.
A lot of knowledge that you otherwise will never get if you dont do a course.
Absolutely! If a person wants to learn how to coach full time and long-term (not just be a flash in the pan), a solid skillset and knowledge of how to attract and book clients is a must.

I always give my family members advice in certain situations and they don’t really listen to me then always come back saying I was right at first it was discouraging because I’m like why do you doubt me so much I’m very practical and I analyze situations well with and without emotion so I’m like you know what let me go help people who want the help ❤ and willing to pay for it too because I’m giving you gems for free and you all taking it for granted lol

I would love to become a life coaching self employed free individual. I am a support worker and I spend most of my time trying to guide the young people I look after. I feel as its now time for me to spread my wings and start a new chapter, getting rid of all my insecurities and make my dreams come true. I live in the UK but I am planning to move to Bulgaria, and I want to have a on line life coaching business to do at home, while living, instead of working myself silly to pay bills and stay afloat. @@kingdevine7374 If you’re serious about coaching, I would suggest participating in a business coaching program that focuses on helping you package your services as many coaching certification programs don’t teach how to package, market, and sell with very much depth. There are also free articles you can find with Google (e.g. EverCoach by Mindvalley). They may not give much concrete information but they can get you started until you’re ready for more targeted and intensive guidance.

I've found what makes a good coach is someone who can get the the root of a client's problem and provide transformation that impacts their life immediately and directly. This is more transformational life coaching but in my experience this is the type of coaching that allows a person to become full-time. Plus the referrals you get when you offer high level value fuel your consistent clients, getting to help others in impactful ways, and providing consistent income.
The opposite of this is more "influencer coaching" where a person asks surface level questions, provides "homework" of reading books or watching videos, and gives positive affirmations that don't actually help the client past the surface level. These types of coaches typically exit the field in 14 months or so because they simply do not have the right training or guidance to help them get their business set up.
I aim to get a life coach/consultant side biz going by this fall !

Good video thank you. There are many GREAT coach certification programs out there that are not a part of ICF credentialing. They are one body. But coaching is a sovereign industry of people helping people far beyond what the ICF has seen. For instance, I have been offering my coach training for over 10 years in transformational and psychedelic integration coaching, certifying over 1000, and its transformed coaches and clients in ways conventional life coaching hasn't even touched upon.
I hate to be a bother but people will ask for certification amd how can i find courses for cheap it seems like its $5,000 another question is i assumed id take conventional courses then add my own side knowledge such as energy work what do you think?

I have to ask. Were you scared of starting and leading someone in the wrong direction? I think I have great insights but what if I hurt someone more than I helped them ya know.
Oh yes, I absolutely had fears when I was first starting out, even despite having years of experience coaching in my 9 to 5, I was still worried. One of the things that helped is that I actually took on my first client for free. That way I could be confident that I could get results before I charged anyone a dime. That helped me get over some of those fears and relieve some of the pressure I was putting on myself to have it perfect the first time! Secondly you just have to push through fears and do the work, try your best, make your clients happy, and continue learning from any mistakes as you go! 💞

Hey Dawn, so happy you've found my channel and happy you're here! Tutors help students prepare for specific tests and exams, usually based on a tutor's expertise in the subject matter. The tutor is the expert while the student is not, and thus the student is soaking up all the knowledge the tutor is teaching them for a specific goal. Coaches, on the other hand, help people to understand bigger picture principles around a certain topic, and the skills they must develop to get to their goal. In coaching, the coach is not necessarily the expert, holding all the knowledge, but the person being coached is empowered to be the expert of themselves and their own lives. This creates a long-laster understanding of certain principles and concepts across multiple scenarios related to a client's goal. The coach is a vehicle, using communication strategies like powerful questioning, to help a person get to their goal in the way that works best for them. Hope this helps bring more clarity! 😊
