She didn't need to cry, because this was a concert. But damn, She's hell of stage performer. She was not only bringing beautiful voice, she was bringing emotions as well.
Her performance is mindblowing as always. She's The Fantine of All Fantines.
And unlike most Les Mis performers, Lea actually did her research read the Fantine pages of the novel, so she understands her character more.
That's interesting- I never knew that! Where did you find that from?
The fact that most les mis performers don't read the novel makes me a bit...disappointed

I mean yeah that helps but anyone can simply say that.
@@TamLe-vb5ig its a 900 pg book even in really small font so this is kind of an unreasonable thing to expect and not really necessary. the person who directs the production should be able to adequately express to the actor what the character is all about.
also with all that being said, i don't think lea salonga's fantine is much better acted than say, ruthie henshall or carrie hope fletcher? but its subjective i guess
when Lea sings "you let your forman send me away!". Just perfect.

There's a documentary interview she was in and she described being very disciplined in her performance. She knows if she doesn't give over 100% in her performance, the audience will know it and this breaks the illusion of the character she plays. On stage, she's Fontaine, but off stage she's just Lea Salonga. I've watched her perform on a lot of videos available abroad. My heart sinks when gets into character and cries, and almost intimated and a bit find it sexy when she gets mad. I have a wife from the Philippines and she can get angry like Lea like a cat.

The stand-out performer frm D principal cast was undoubtedly Les Mis legend LEA SALONGA ...as Fantine. Salonga’s career-long type-casting role CUD probably B described as ‘feisty, determined but doomed’, whether they R calling her Kim or Eponine...she gave a performance of the very highest order!
SHE was deserving of her show-stopping ovation. Salonga was undoubtedly the finest pure performer on stage at this concert.
