This was such a huge help on my last shoot as being able to use my R7 and get a wider viewing angle and faster speeds was super helpful. If you can find this I would definitely recommend it. EF-R3 is not compatible anymore with the Canon R7 latest firmware. Just got one, and the F-stop shows F0 with all my Canon EF lenses. The camera doesn't do anything.
The EF-E speedbooster on Sony bodies gave me nightmares with all its limitations and no PDAF in video. I've got this on my R6 as an experiment. Now I couldn't wait to get R50 to give this speedbooster where it should be. You can think about getting the Tamron 35-150mm f2.8-4. With the speedbooster getting pseudo 35-150mm f2-2.8 like the E mount version is fun. Slower AF motor is the only con.
@@gregtoope everyone praise the Sigma 18-35. However I do think its a bit too heavy. Tamron 17-35 f2.8-4 with or without speedbooster seems more balanced IMO.
This was helpful. I'm getting an R7 for video work and I'm considering whether to get the Viltrox speed booster or the Meike adapter with the drop-in ND filter. It would be amazing to get both the focal reduction and the ND but that's just not physically feasible in a single adapter
Viltrox doesn't seem to support this adapter anymore. Can't get of even fine any reference to it as far as firmware!!?? Its soft and doesnt like to focus much of the time.
Question. If you use the speedbooster. Is that value can be considered as the true value of focal length and aperture?? I'm curious if that if you use speedbooster that will only affect the field of view and depth of field in a way crop sensor do with using ff lens. Thank you
as long as its an EF lens then I wouldn't think you shouldn have any issues, but I haven't tested. Ill hopefully be getting a Tamron EF-S lens shortly so I can test with that to see how it works.
I have this exact same speedbooster, Viltrox Ef-R3 and I have autofocus issues when a subject is not close to the lense and I'm on 24mm, when i zoom in to 70mm the autofocus starts working...I have it paired with EOS R

that would be a nice combo. i was also looking at the 18-35 f1.8 from Sigma.

I returned this one. I used it with the R7. I had issues with vignetting and the inability to focus at lower focal lengths.

Cam you please sell me that Speedbooster ? because it's no where available in here in India I have searched it everywhere
This work with the sigma 18-35 1.8 on the R7 with the speed booster?
Oh great. Now I want a new camera so I can boost it 🙂
new cameras are fun!
Does it work with Tamron zoom lens for Canon?

I wish I had viltrox booster for my r7. It costs 53k here in india.😭
well its hard to get a hold of one now. But if you can get one they are well worth it.
does anyone know if this speedbooster work with EF and EF-S lenses?
It works with EF lenses.
EF-S lenses will have extreme vignetting.

Actually I solved the problem by twisting the glass element untill It can autofocus to Infinity.
