Hey Jimmy! Thanks for all you do. I was hoping if you could answer a question regarding the second antenna! It links to an 3dBi and was wondering what you would recommend for an short 8dBi?
That drop was an epic fail, LOL. Clicked "try again" for an hour. RAK hosed that one up big-time.
@@DiMoraDiamond I and my brother tried for 2 hours and never got anything ordered.
@@treytrey6011 Scalpers bought them up they are all over the marketplace and eBay i was sad
I bought the LoRa fibreglass 5.8dbi. It didn't come with a cable though. What kind of cable do I need to get to connect it to my Nebra indoor miner?
Thanks for covering this topic in detail. Great info & it's good to hear from someone who has used all of these antennaes
My thanks so much for your help. I was think on buying antennas but didn't know which one to buy. And now I know 😎
Valuable information. I live in West Chicago suburb and waiting for my Bobcat miners. Thank you sir.
Good stuff just purchased 10 bobcat miners myself. Nervous as crap but excited to see what happens.
I love how he has timestamps so we don't have to waste our time and we can just get to the part of the video that has the info we want to know
Thank you brother. Great video and helps me understand what I need for my area.
Thanks for the video! Great idea on the car mount I was just about to return my extra one. 🙌🏼
Best video on antennas I've seen yet thank you
Dude this video was really helpful. Thanks for posting the links to the antennas!
HI Jimmy new viewer great explanation of the antenna I have been using antennas for three years great info thank you.
You answered so many of my questions, thank you!
The thicker cable is something like LMR400 and the other one may be LMR240. The 400 has substantially less dBi loss. Thanks for the video!
Hodl and get a miner like rissminer and you will be thanking yourself
how fast is it compered to to other miners
@@b.b.2638 They are all the same, computing power doesn't come into Helium mining
@@7StarAlgarve rissminer is completely different
I’m not so thankful for this advice right now. 😂 Hopefully 5G catches on and HNT price goes up.
Kudos to your wife for the stamping up work in the background! :)
GREAT INFO MAN!!Definitely helped me out!
Thanks for the video, very informative!
great video thanks for being so thorough and putting us on GAME
Great video with useful information.
I' am waiting for my miners.
Grea info Jimmy! Liked and subscribed, just got my sensecap m1 and syncing up right now
Nice info and great review for the helium miner.👍
Thanks!
It was really informative💯👍
Thanks for all the advice!
You are the reason we are getting miners
Thank you so much for the knowledge jimmy5 I hope that I can get a setup like that soon sir
this vid does actually heklp a ton, thx
Great content! Thank you.
Great info, thx Jimmy 👍
Just got my miner I'm hype!
thank you for the video !
I appreciate the education it’s greatly appreciated thank you 🚀😇🚀
So informative as always, appreciate the videos Jimmy
thanks for information Jimmy
Hey man! Great content. Thanks for that.
SO we can have them inside instead of outside?
And what would be better: Having it a bit higher bit close to the wall, or a bit lower but in a more open space. Both in the same area of vuildings.
Thanks
Getting set up with a couple other guys on the east side of KC; just waiting on our miners!
have you got your miners yet ?
Great explanation thank you.
Hi Jimmy, thanks for all the awesome videos.. May I ask you will be doing any video on helium staking and what's your thoughts? Thank you.
Thanks for the helpful vid. My miner is on the way and I am building an antenna rig. I am in an almost ideal situation at the edge of city, fairly high. I'll be the bridge between two congested areas. I have high hopes....thankz for your help.
You the man!!! Thanks
Hay man keep the info coming thanks
Awesome.. my brother and I was just talking about getting antennas
Thank you for your explanation
Got it, Thanks!
As a community of helium miners, I think we have a lot to learn about the way antennas work. There is no "umbrella" affect where radio waves travel up and then fall back down. At 915MHz the ionosphere won't even reflect them back to Earth. Vertical antennas are omnidirectional. Radio waves travel in straight lines from the antenna in all directions. It's more likely that, since LoRaWAN is designed for relatively short range (compared to other communications protocols) and very low power, too much gain overloads the front end on the receivers, distorting the data. I would guess 3-5dBi to be the sweet spot for populated areas, with higher gain being more useful in rural areas.
Thanks for this spot on info. Videos like this one, it's like the blind leading the blind.
Great video. I just ordered the 4th one from RAK. I'm leery of going with the stuff on Amazon...at least with RAK I know its legit even if I pay more. I want to buy once / cry once and be done with it.
Thank you for this video. You did a really great job explaining all the antennas. I am looking into purchasing a new antenna, do you have any recommendations based on changes over the past six months?
Is there some benefit to the long 8dbi vs the short 8dbi besides just getting the antenna up higher? I mean is it going to transmit/receive better the way a larger TV antenna would?
Thanks your video answered most of my questions. The 3dbi works like an umbrella but does anyone know the estimated hight that the signal pushes upwards for 3db and 5.8dbi?
Thank you King!!!
Enjoyed your video. Do you think you can do. A video on the differences between using ethernet connection and Wi-Fi connection while using the bobcat miner?
Very informative video. I had a question regarding extending the antenna. I want to place the antenna on my roof, are there specs and specifics I need to look at for the wire to get more length so I can place the antenna on the roof while having the miner inside?
Hey Jimmy! Love your content! Question: I have a Bobcat miner coming in soon, and the place I'm setting it up in only has a skylight (no windows - it's the second floor of a commercial unit in a city). What's the best indoor antenna to use? *I might be able to set one up on the roof... in that case, what would be the best outdoor antenna? Thanks so much!
Fantastic content as always. You recommend any websites to purchase antennas for living in the UK?
Amazing video
Hey, first of all thanks for the awesome content you are creating and than to my question... i am from europe do i have to be aware of any frequency differences when i purchase an antenna ?
JIMMY thanks for the video and all explanation one question when i buy outdoor antenna i must buy separet cable to reach the box!???
Shoutout everyone, thanks for sharing..
Great video
This is the best atenna advise video out ther! thanks. 5.8 it'll be 4 me I guess..
Can you do a vid on the antenna cable loss
Thank you!!!
Are these antennas pretty much universal to all the helium miners? Great video btw! Helped a ton!
You are a savior
Thank you!
Jimmy. Great presentation. Question. How does temperature effect the antennas?
Hi, when you say the 6dbi and the 3 dbi sends the signal UP and OUT, how far UP (in metres) does the signal go before it goes OUT. Thanks.
Hi I live on the ground floor of an apartment, do you think I can mount my antenna on the window like you? Thanks for the video, very helpful
Jimmy - Great video! Do these antennas still work with both of the newer Helium indoor and outdoor wifi hotspots as of 2/18/24.
great video
I ordered a 7 DBI for Rak miner from amazon. I live in a large city (1 mill) , close to downtown, condo complex.
Great video.
thank you for share
Hello, thank you on great video.
Still have the dilemma about antenna type. Facts:
6km away from the city
80m elevation higher than the city with clear line of sight and mountain behind me.
Should I buy omni or directional?
Which gain?
In case of omni, I am afraid that I will skip the city because of elevation difference and wandering if maybe to put it under some small vertical angle?
Thank you in advance.
Does the length of the antenna matter if they both are 8dbi ?
Great and very helpful explanation of these antennas, thank you. Do you need to have an extra power supply (signal amplifier) or can they be powered directly by a Nebra unit?
No. Just depower the unit and connect it. I suggest using LMR400 for cabling. Enjoy.
Your awesome dude
Thanks!
Hey Jimmy. Thx for your videos, super helpful! I have a question and hoping you can help! Have you heard of anyone having issues with the rak v2 miner not getting any witnesses? I upgraded to 4 dbi antenna (one you recommended in your video) and still haven't received any witnesses after running for 4 weeks. I'm in an excellent area and should be getting 10+ witnesses according to the map so not sure what the issue is. Thx in advance!
Great video! Thank you! I just got my bobcat300 and looking for another attena. I live in suburban area with houses and trees but not a lot of tall buildings. What are your thoughts on the 12dbi or 16dbi from Amazon and eBay?
Thanks for this video. Can one not bifurcate the coax with a splitter and use multiple antennas?
thanks jimmy
Thanks Bruv
do yo think 6 dbi will do the same like 5.8?
Hi for 5.8 dBi , does it matters the frequency? and if yes , which frequency (MHZ) do you recommend?
I wish I would have been producing mining antennas at the time of this video. Made in the USA and guaranteed to outperform everything on the market.
Hi Jimmy, what did you think of the performance of the longest antenna in your video? And did it go up and out or only out? Thank you.
Great informational video. I'm just getting into this of course I can't seem to find a helium minor at this point so if you have any connections please let me know. But my question to you is I live in a very far out remote area my town is 3,000 people not a big town anywhere close. So I was thinking of getting the 8dbi. But I live in a two-story house house going to put the antenna on the outside of the window on my second floor and run a extension cable from the antenna downstairs to the unit. Is that a problem how much of an antenna do I need or should I use or not use. Would I lose a lot the longer the cable?
How does the length effect the signal? Just mainly the height of the signal.
Hi there, thank you for the excellent information about Dbi and antennas
Question is possible to connect two different Dbi antennas to one Hotspot, that had only one Antenna connector
Is that a way to do this, maybe use something like a splitter
Thank you for your help
Jimmy love your videos, have syncrobit coming. I live in a flat city about 80,000 people. Going to put the miner on the roof, what do you recommend. There is no hills no huge buildings, 6 dbi you think
Hey Jimmy. Thank you for the education. I do have a question to ask. If I’m putting this antenna outside, what type of cable do I need to get it into my house? If there is anything else you can tell me about the cable to use for these antennas that would be much appreciated. Also I’m guessing that all these antennas can be placed outdoors?
Nice video can you do a video how you setup the antenna indoor i can't find a video thanks
QUESTION JIMMY: Is the last antenna 58" the only one suitable for outdoors?
Do you recommend the attics for the antenna placement? if yes, which one of these models are best?
Hey man great video and very informative. I live by the sea and was wondering which antenna would be optimised my profits. There are some larger communities about 2 miles out and if I could I would like to reach into them. What do you think?
Great info! Can you talk about how to aim your antenna in order to reach certain areas over others?
Monopole antennas are omnidirectional. But I suspect you are asking how to shape the signal so you can hack the system?
Hey, I think you should inform people about the different frequencies of the antennas which are different depending on your location
the frequencie changes to europe?
@@EdgarCardoso1983 dont think so but the model of the miner yes, for Europe youll need EU 868
@@danieladeac6090 you have to buy an antenna for your region the miner is the same, the antenna is what creates the mhz frequency
@@Dasshniplle the miner comes with its own antenna so….what do you mean exactly?
@@Dasshniplle no, that is just plain wrong. Antennas are not what determines output or input frequencies. The transceiver modules in this case, is what generates the frequency
I just ordered the Rokland 5.8dbi for my MNTD goldspot, thinking I will put it up in my attic, i am in the suburbs.
I really hope I choose the right antenna
The best antenna is the 4dbi that comes with Bobcat. Wish I could find those. Works the best.
Why
Why
When you said your were placing these antennas in houses or businesses, did you mean you are setting up miners for other people or setting up your own miners at various locations?
