You guys, Mixed Makeup is five years old!! We just celebrated our anniversary. I quit my job this time five years ago and decided to upload the first video. I’m so excited to be on this journey with you! Now, let’s discuss Olivia’s routine. I don’t want to go crazy over makeup wipes, but you guys know. Also, I took a look at the balm she used before the oil-turns out it does need to be rinsed off. It’s a treatment with ingredients like retinol, so she’s definitely overly exfoliating, which is exactly what Dr. Sturm didn’t want her to do. Her skin doesn’t seem to react badly, but it could catch up with her later on. What are your thoughts?!
Dr. Barbara Sturm has a bachelor in medicine and sports, and she wrote her doctorate thesis in orthopedics. She’s never actually studied dermatology nor is she a medical doctor of any kind. She just had a doctoral degree, and I believe it is a PhD, but can not confirm that on any online resources.
Yes. Exactly. And it's crazy because you would think she has all kinds of access to expensive professionals that know what they're doing so I don't get how she doesn't know what order to do her skincare in.
Could you do a review of Dr Dray's morning skincare routine or Rosie Huntington's nighttime routine? Dr. Dray's routine is rather unusual and I would enjoy your take on it :)
I think you asked on the last video so I took a glance at her morning skincare, but she really only uses a couple products and they’re sunscreen. It’s not that interesting because she also doesn’t wear makeup or so much to her skin to begin with. She’s all about protection and that’s great. I was a little surprised to see how much moisturizer/SPF she applied but other than that, it was fine. She’s a derm and knows her skin.
Susan Yara she’s intense about her sunscreen! Not only does she apply a ton even when she’s not leaving her house but she wears this weird face mask thing when she’s driving. I know that’s more common in certain Asian countries but you don’t see many people in the US wearing masks when driving.
Julia I do think people usually apply less than they should! With saying that Dr. Dray probably over does it. And man I'm jealous that you only have to leave the house once or twice a week! Do you work from home?
Dr. Dray is a derm, but layering sunscreen.. I read that it still just gives gives you the protection of the higher SPF product, so... that's kind of not scientific. Doctors are people, too. I'd suppose Susan wants to avoid reviewing a medical professional, though!
The breakouts on one side of her face could also be due to a dirty cellphone...I clean mine with alcohol everyday before going to sleep and bringing it into bed with me!
This is what I found online about Dr. Sturm: Dr. Barbara Sturm is an internationally renowned specialist in aesthetic medicine and specializes in non-surgical rejuvenating skin treatments, wrinkle treatments and anti-aging. Dr. Barbara Sturm studied medicine and sports in Bochum, Essen and Düsseldorf. She wrote her doctorate in the field of orthopedics.
@@ChienaAvtzon i actually found out her ex husband was a director from Hollywood and connected her to all these celebs ... Honestly her products aren't bad ,just way way way overpriced. And she doesn't give bad advice at all ,she ince said in her interview " you don't need a cabinet full of skincare products, just my serum and cream is enough" .Olivia just fcked up by not taking her advice 🤷♀️

Which leads me to believe she didn’t get everything off. When you use those little pads to take your make up off it’s essentially like using a make up wipe in the fact that she’s pulling at her eye. The whole point in doing a double cleanse is to melt your make up off. She also isn’t using a serum. She didn’t put any sunscreen on which I didn’t think she would at night, but she didn’t mention wearing it during the day. Those were just a few things I noticed while watching.

Dr. Barbara Sturm studied pediatric and sports medicine, and has a doctorate in orthopedics. She then applied her molecular science background into dermatology to make her own skincare.
I never knew the rule of thinner tp thickest and since I've applied that to my skincare routine my skin has been improving so much! now my products can help more!
Although I’m American, I remember me and my family were watching the miss universe she was on, and we were rooting for the Filipino woman because she was just so stunning.
Dr. Barbara Sturm did study medicine in Germany (she’s German) and specialized in orthopedics. She developed a cure for arthrosis and then worked a lot with plastic surgants. Not a dermatologist, but I‘m pretty sure she knows enough about it, she‘s worked in the field for quite a while.
Dr. Barbara Sturm studied medicine and sports and became a doctor for orthopedics. She helped pioneer a treatment where she takes proteins (plasma) from blood and inject in skin. She said the name for it today is called, "vampire facial". I think it originally was for inflammation in joints. This is what I got from her master class with Sephora on youtube.
From what I just read, it sounds like Dr. Barbara Sturm studied Sports Medicine in Orthopedics. Though, it does not seem like she is an MD. More along the lines of a PhD. My main issue, is that celebrities think she is a dermatologist.
Yes, I agree. PhD, even if in an adjacent field means she is not trained in dermatology at all. She might have picked up her expertise throughout her career, but I would definitely trust an actual dermatologist over her... I dont love that she goes by Dr. knowing that most people would assume she has an MD because it feels like lying by omission
久保葉菜 - It is the ultimate scam and con. I actually wonder how she has not been fined, under EU regulations. At least, Dr. Dennis Gross and Dr. Adrienne Denese are dermatologists. Dr. Roshini Rajapaska is a gastroenterologist, so she utilizes probiotics in her skincare line.
I think that a lot of people spray the mist/toner/thermal water after because they are used to use the setting spray after all the makeup. So they 'assume' it has to go after, without knowing that those two different products, with different ingredients and purposes... Great videos as always, Susan ;)
I was using a memory foam gel pillow and couldn’t figure out why I was breaking out on one side, I thought it was my pillowcase or cell phone or if I wad mindlessly touching that one side on my face...after a lot of trial and error I realized it wad my actual pillow, it wasn’t letting my skin breathe on the side I sleep on. Switched over to a more breathable memory foam pillow that had holes in it to let the air circulate. *No more breakouts on one side! 🙌😁🙌*
Dr. Sturm specialised in orthopaedics and sports medicine and then worked in a center for molecular orthopaedics. As far as I remember, she transferred her knowledge of molecular orthopaedics to cosmetics (which is why her line is called ‘molecular cosmetics’) and now has a clinic in Germany for molecular and aesthetic medicine. So the name isn’t really about being flashy but is supposed to show that she knows what she is doing (as she is still doing research).
So as a first time mom, around the 1-3 month range I was absolutely exhausted. My boyfriend was away for schooling and I was by myself, I was going through postpartum anxiety and depression. So in a sense I was goin through it. So to save time I would use a baby wipe to take my makeup off and wash my face....then go to bed....yeah I know y’all. My normally insanely oily skin was soooo dry and flaky and I broke out so bad. Fast forward to my son being 6 months old, and a huge learning process, I don’t wipe my face with huggies wipes anymore lol. I’m on the skincare junkie train, farmacy, olehenricken, fresh, caudalie, I’m actually taking time to take care of my skin and myself. Now I have rarely any break out, my oily skin is balanced, and my skin has a beautiful glow. Goes to show that taking care of yourself is so important!
I also get acne on left side and I thought its may be because of cysts in my one of my ovary (I used to had cysts in my ovaries prior to my pregnancy). I am not going to go for ultrasound because of this Covid situation. But yeah it could me my pillowcases. I usually change them every week, now thinking to change them every day or other day if it helps. Thanks
I'm not sure what your former career was, but I'm guessing you were also amazing at it. Congratulations on 5 years! A mere milestone of good things yet to come! Thank you for your knowledge and dedication, we all learn when you record.
I’ve said this before. I use Simple wipes to take off the initial layer of makeup. Idk if it’s damaging my skin tbh I do follow up with my cleansing balm and water cleanser. I only use 1 wipe. Period. That’s it. For my neck and face. Not too bad right? RIGHT?! 😦
been enjoying watching your videos bc I trust your guys' advice on skincare. This series is interesting and if you were looking for another person to react to maybe Desi Perkins' glowing skincare routine? ☺️
These are the directions for the Skin Design London Designer Balm: Warm the Balm between your fingers and apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin and relax for 15 minutes. Rinse well with wet face mitt towel, muslin cloth or damp cleansing pads, and wring the cloth damp with warm water. Once your pores are clean and open follow on with products for complete treatment. I guess we don't know if they cut out her rinsing her face after applying this but it's definitely meant to be washed off!
I think these are my favorite videos that you do, Susan! As someone who LOVES skincare, it’s so interesting to see what these celebrities with extensive resources use for their routines. Most of them are 😳, but I love that you give constructive criticism that will help out the regular viewer. Thanks! 😉
Dr Saturn qualifications are in sports medicine orthopaedics. I’m guessing she ventured/ invested in to cosmetics which is more chemical engineering because the market value is a lot bigger... earning capacity is greater.
Dr. Sturm’s website said she did her doctorate in orthopedics in Germany - not the orthopedics we think of in US. so PHD in molecular biology probably.
I need advice! I currently have in my stash these three exfoliants: Sephora Glow Peel pads, The Inkey List Glycolic Acid Toner abd The Inkey List Lactic Acid. My question are: Can i use any of these together in one night? If not, can I rotate them throughout the week? Thank you in advance!
Ty for another great video. I broke out on one side when I went back to school and I would place my hand on my face as I leaned in to listen. It also could be her phone. Phones are a haven for bacteria.
Do you recommend using a micellar cleansing water to remove makeup over makeup wipes? I notice for me only using a makeup remover face wash dries out my skin. When I use a makeup wipe with a makeup remover face wash my skin does not dry out so fast.
Hi Susan!! I noticed you do a lot of videos on cosmetic surgery and I was wondering if you could do a video or if you had any advice about keloid treatments? I feel like it’s difficult evaluating what treatments are safe or best because of potential regrowth or they're not very safe - and honestly surgery is just really scary and expensive! If you had any advice that would be so helpful. Thanks 😍

What are your thoughts on “exfoliating” your face with a wet wash cloth? I do this daily before applying makeup to brush away dead skin that appears on my face. I’m worried that it might be damaging to my skin but I just can’t stop. I’ve done it for years and hope it’s not totally ruining my skin!
Well the description on her website says: "Dr. Sturm systematically transferred the scientific findings in molecular orthopedics to the skin and dermatology, because skin cells and cartilage cells function in a very similar manner." Seems legit to me
Professoringinstyle Being an heiress (Paris) or a child of a Olympic decathlon winner & famous mom (Kylie) doesn’t make you a skincare expert either, but yet, there they are making perfume-filled expensive & worthless products. 🙄
@@tenisas13 ok so then a plastic surgeon can just start doing Heart surgery because its all about blood and the body right?! totally different fields and training needed to be a dermatologist, she's just a scammer
Okay but dehydrated skin needs moisture not oil which is a barrier to hold onto the moisture. You need a hydrating serum or moisturizer first, not oil.
Also who puts a balm mask all over their eyes? Irritation anyone 🤦♀️ and she did totally say to take it off after 15 mins so does she use a normal moisturizer after? Odd!
Hi Susan! I know this channel just released a video about a night time routine for acne-prone skin but can you please also do a review/routine for acne?? Very curious to see what you think/ recommend!! Also what's the difference would be between night time and morning. Thanks :) xx
What I noticed was how she wiped her face with the towel. It was rough. I wouldn't even pay dry. I dont dry it at all..that increases transepidermal water loss
Hi Susan! I love all your skincare videos! I have a question and maybe you or anybody who reads this can answer it. When Olivia mentioned she had some acne in one of her cheeks, you said it could be because of her pillowcase! I was taken aback because I never thought your pillow would have anything to do with acne. So, what kind of fabric/pillows do you recommend? Thanks❤

I never knew the rule of thinner tp thickest and since I've applied that to my skincare routine my skin has been improving so much! now my products can help more!
I love how in the end they show the steps on screen. Nice touch.
Love this series because I make some of these mistakes and didn’t even know it (double exfoliating)
Everytime I watch these reaction videos, I can't help but go back to watching Jackie Aina's routine.
Would like to see you review Dr. Dray's nighttime routine
My favorite dermatologist and skincare minimalist!
PLS TRY HELLO HUNNY'S SKINCARE ROUTINE. She is 40 but looks 20.
love u susan. great content as always. been coming to you for tips for a year now!!!
So glad these are weekly I LOVE these
Once again, genetics make this woman beautiful.
Don't forget likely facials, botox and filler.
Her actual face is pretty..not her skin. For now it looks ok but in the future i bet it will shows
Arielle C she is stunning
Thanks
Two videos in one day like damn is it my birthday
Carly Rivlin I know right!
Holy geez she scrubbed her face dry! Pat pat pat woman!!! Oof
I accidentally paused the video on the moment she pulled out the Neutrogena makeup wipes, 0:53... Susan’s face had me dead. 😭😂
Hey. Yet again a great video.
Would it find interesting if u mix up a morning skincare in this series.
I really love this series, very informative.. thank you Susan..
Can you do one with someone with acne? I don’t have bad acne just hormonal acne, but I’d like to see what their routines are and your thoughts.
I think these are my favorite videos that you do, Susan! As someone who LOVES skincare, it’s so interesting to see what these celebrities with extensive resources use for their routines. Most of them are 😳, but I love that you give constructive criticism that will help out the regular viewer. Thanks! 😉
Jeannie and Pony next PLEASE
Dr Saturn qualifications are in sports medicine orthopaedics. I’m guessing she ventured/ invested in to cosmetics which is more chemical engineering because the market value is a lot bigger... earning capacity is greater.
Dr. Sturm’s website said she did her doctorate in orthopedics in Germany - not the orthopedics we think of in US. so PHD in molecular biology probably.
I would love to hear your thoughts on Pony's skincare routine posted on Harper Bazaar's channel :)
I need advice! I currently have in my stash these three exfoliants: Sephora Glow Peel pads, The Inkey List Glycolic Acid Toner abd The Inkey List Lactic Acid. My question are:
Can i use any of these together in one night?
If not, can I rotate them throughout the week?
Thank you in advance!
Ty for another great video. I broke out on one side when I went back to school and I would place my hand on my face as I leaned in to listen. It also could be her phone. Phones are a haven for bacteria.
Wow, you’ve been knockin out video after video! Good job!
THESE BEAUTY QUEENS RLLY LOVE COCONUT OIL N WIPES SHHDDJJSJSKS
Do you recommend using a micellar cleansing water to remove makeup over makeup wipes? I notice for me only using a makeup remover face wash dries out my skin. When I use a makeup wipe with a makeup remover face wash my skin does not dry out so fast.
first she pulls out the makeup wipes, then the coconut oil. All eyes on Susan lol. She is so pretty and talented!
I'm going to guess her phone may be causing her breakouts. Using on one side more verses the other.
Thanks 😍

Love these skincare reaction videos
Love this series of skin care reaction!
What are your thoughts on “exfoliating” your face with a wet wash cloth? I do this daily before applying makeup to brush away dead skin that appears on my face. I’m worried that it might be damaging to my skin but I just can’t stop. I’ve done it for years and hope it’s not totally ruining my skin!
i love this series soooooo much.and hoping the people in the video learn from this too.
I’m not sure how a PhD in orthopedics makes you a skin care expert but I guess I’ve seen worse! This is from a fellow PhD 🧐
Especially, since celebrities like to say that she is a dermatologist/MD.
Well the description on her website says: "Dr. Sturm systematically transferred the scientific findings in molecular orthopedics to the skin and dermatology, because skin cells and cartilage cells function in a very similar manner." Seems legit to me
Yaaay that means I can use my PhD to harness my skin care dreams too!
Your facials expressions TELL IT ALL 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Your definition being nice to her but deep down I could tell your like “WTF?” Lmfao 😂😂😂
Barbara is a specialist in aesthetic medicine and specializes in non-surgical rejuvenating skin treatments, wrinkle treatments and anti aging
Hi! Can you make a video on ingredients one should avoid in skincare?
Thanks❤
