Have you tried the (WIDE AREA BOX-eye auto focus for larger groups. It will only focus on eyes in that box... Much better than SONY and CANON

Thanks for the suggestion. I need to test it out more!

Have you tried speeding up the video auto focus and focus speed? It seems to help for some reason

It looks to me that you basketball photos were a little soft due to you shutter speed too slow but have to say do this test on a equal canon or Sony with eye af and you will instantly see what all the fuss is about towards Nikon.

Thanks for the comment Craig. I have shot at 1/500 of a second when shooting basketball using dynamic autofocus and didn't have this problem. In a perfect test there would be two Z7iis side by side - one shooting with eye detection and the other with dynamic AF and compare the results.

@@thephotographytoolkit 1/500 is ok if the person doesn't make that sudden movement. I would say 1/1000 is more adequate.

@@mlai2546 Agreed that 1/1000 will freeze sudden movement better than 1/500. It also means I have to have a higher ISO.

@@thephotographytoolkit yeah, maybe you can use burst mode and hope that you catch the player when they are not doing sudden movement.

@@mlai2546 I am actually using the Z9 now and it is so much better. The dynamic autofocus of the Z9 is amazing and I haven't had any softness issues.

UNFORTUNATELY, still Looks no where near the sophistication of my Sony a7s III!.....

Sony has definitely led the way when it comes to mirrorless! Nikon just starting to join in with the pro level models.

That's interesting... I have two Sony a7r3's and while I don't plan on switch from Sony, I do pefere the Nikon s raw files for the z72 over the Sony. I did a quick auto focus test and posted some result here ruclips.net/video/YXvNYcXHTbk/видео.html
