It’s crazy how LIC has changed. I am from Queensbridge Projects. The LIC I remember was all grass and weeds. None of the apt buildings were there. Wow.

Fun fact, Long Island City was it’s own city before it merge with the greater New York City. As with Queens and rest of Long Island, people put their locality as their address, not NY, NY or Long Island. Never been to the shoreline. I had to visit now.

Also, Queens and Brooklyn are technically both part of Long Island. Which is part of the reason why the LI Railroad runs through both boroughs, one of LI University main campuses is in Brooklyn and Long Island Exwy runs through Queens.

Sweet vid! Here are some of my favourite spots in my stomping grounds:
John Brown's Serious Smokehouse - right near LIC Cliffs on 44th Dr
-awesome BBQ with an outdoors beer-garden behind
    The Creek and Cave
-comedy club (usually free w/ music and open mic) on 2 floors with a Mexican restaurant (ehh) and outdoors chill spot
    The Gutter
-huge chill bar with a bowling alley in back. Great vibes, on 46th Ave
Anable Basin Sailing Bar and Grill
-outdoors bar and grill with the best view of Manhattan
    Fifth Hammer Brewing Company
-brewery right next to The Gutter bar. Great selection of beers
    The Local - 44th Ave
-hostel with a cafe and rooftop
    Big aLICe Brewing
    -brewery off the beaten path
    Cheers!

Queensboro Bridge connects Queens to Manhattan, not Roosevelt Island. I can see how you can make the mistake because the Bridge actual goes over part of the Island. There's a smaller bridge on Vernon Blvd that connects Queens to Roosevelt Island.

when most people think of long island. they just think of Nassau and Suffolk counties. Brooklyn and queen are on the same island. queens eastern border is with Nassau county. before queen became part of the city. all of Nassau county was a part of queens before its towns separated and became Nassau county. during that time long island city was its only own city. and like back then like today is the western point of the island

My mother and I used to walk my sister to school from 44th Dr to St. Mary's Catholic school. My parents were very involved in the church activities in the 60's. I went to PS 76 for four months before they moved us to Long Island from LIC when I was 6 and I have never forgiven them! Any old school parishioners will remember Father Murphy, Father Logato, Sister Constantine, Sister Rita, etc.

Very inaccurate tour. The pink sculpture called the "Sun Bather" is not from the Sculpture Center. It's called the Court Square Park, yes the fountain still works, LIC is one of the most expensive parts of NYC (even more so than some parts of Manhattan), not a continuation of Moma, it was once a school created by the last Mayor of LIC when LIC was not a part of Greater New York City
