Staten Island is amazing. (I'd know cuz i live there) Cheap to live in then all the other boroughs and you can take the train from anywhere you live in staten island and then take the ferry all the way to the city for free. It's amazing.
3:10, you can also take buses (MTA) that goes over the bridge. I mean, it's $2.75, but it beats the toll of the bridge if you actually want to go via the bridge route.
Hi, I have always thought that Staten Island is very beautiful, and you have confirmed it to me, that it is a fascinating sight to take the ferry in the evening.
I currently live on Staten Island. I got you covered for the transportation part. *Edited* : Currently Staten Island only has one railway. The Staten Island Railway. Runs from St George to Tottenville. *2nd Edit* : Most of Staten Island is peaceful. It does have lots great places. The beaches on Staten Island are amazing. Just relaxing and has great sunsets.
You hit the stuff worth seeing! The Chinese Scholar Garden, The Tibetan Museum, Fort Wadsworth, Richmond Town. Unfortunately it's a hike getting around by public Transportation... Thank you so much for your video. It was very good. Yes it's definitely different from the rest of the city.
London calling: Yes SI is certainly the suburb of NYC. If you want peace and quiet then this is the place to be, but I understand that there is now a spanking brand new mall just alongside St.George to encourage the tourists and they are also building a hotel outside the ferry dock, so things are looking up. As you say SI is not a place for fine dining but they get there finger out if they want to boost the reputation. The ferry is my ideal place for a tranquil 25 mins. journey away from the hustle and bustle of NYC. I'm glad to see that they have stopped the buskers. With all this new development I wonder when they will begin to re-introduce the 50c ferry charge? $$$
Thank you for doing a awesome job on Staten Island. Been living here since 1999 and I appreciate you doing a video on my hometown. Next Time you visit staten check out the Staten Island mall.
@@billslover90 SI does not have the largest Italian-American population of the 5 boroughs. It has the highest percentage of population of Italian/Italian Americans at nearly 40%. The biggest reason for that is because SI has far less population diversity compared to the other 4 boroughs.
I used to live extremely close to the heart of Richmond Town. Most of my childhood memories of my neighborhood is in the historic part of Richmond Town. My grandfather was born in the 30s and he told me all about life in Richmond town. He even went to that public school that is next to the church. It’s a really great place and I was sad when one of the original building burned down. You should have shown more of the museums. I especially love the one with the boat and the whaling.
Alice Austin house, The Tibetan museum is awesome, Bike NY is from Fort Wadsworth, the conference house tottenville, south beach, Sandygrounds, clay pit ponds,, Nice backpack by kindly.
Me watching this because I actually am so excited because I never saw a RUclipsr be in Staten Island before cuz I'm in Staten Island New York so we're in the same place
Just took the ferry there a few weeks ago, also been watching some old endless adventure videos and saw you from a few years back! Nice to see you going around the neighborhoods in the city. My gf and I live here and also started a channel vlogging our trips.

I live in north, New Jersey that’s 11 mins away from Manhattan. After being to all boroughs of NYC, Staten Island is a great neighborhood to raise a family, it’s clean, roads has less potholes comparing to the other boroughs, not too country, not too city just perfect yet you’re still living in NYC in a nice house, where as the other boroughs everybody and everything is super close to each other making it claustrophobic. If you’re single with no kids you’re better off living in Brooklyn, queens or Manhattan. Want to raise a family in a nice neighborhood then Staten Island it is.
Nooo there is no “downtown Staten Island”!!! And there are tons of good food places especially Italian food since we’re dominated by Italians. You can also take the express buses from anywhere in Manhattan to Staten Island with your metro card for $6.75. We definitely are different from all the other boroughs, so thank you for shining some positive light on us ✌🏽
Found this video and it made me home sick. I grew up on the island, lived in Great Kills very close to Historic Richmondtown. There’s also the St. George Theater, amazing Italian food, I highly recommend Deninio’s, and Ralph’s Ices in the Port Richmond area. I always loved Snug Harbour, it’s so pretty there. Thanks for shining a light on my hometown!!
Well done The TravelingClatt. Exactly what I need for my upcoming trip to NYC in Sept 2023.Am planning to spend half a day in the island. Keep it up. Cheers.
I have watched several clips about Staten Island and not one has mentioned the Billopp house. Also known as the Conference House, it was a peace conference between the colonies and England. Some of the people at the conference included Edward Rutledge, John Adams, Lord Howe, and Ben Franklin among others on 9/11/1776
Thank you! I felt the same way. As one of the past caretakers with Deborah, we wondered "WHY NOT"?? I know it's a rather out of the way trip if you are on foot, but worth it! Ferry, to SIRR train, get off at last stop (tottenville), go to Conference House Park on Hylan Blvd and Saterlee. Lots of history here.Times for tours are Friday, Sat, Sunday 1:00pm to 4:00pm. It also has a lot of "Indigenous history" here.

Snug harbor is my favorite place in the entire city, and I’m a brooklynite! I actually worked there for a few years when I was a teenager (lived in Staten Island during that time). I do the trek when I ever I can just to visit the Chinese scholar gardens and to walk the grounds. If you ever find yourself in the borough of parks again I highly recommend checking out clove lakes park, and silver lake park, both run along Victory blvd and are not far at all from St George. Btw love your channel, come to Bensonhurst ;-)
@@edwardvalentino3835 Um...yes. Staten Island in every way resembles Jersey more than any other NYC borough. I was born and raised in SI. My family and I lived in a huge Victorian home on Tysen street. Literally the first street when you leave snug harbor. So my street is pretty unique because they are all HUGE Victorian homes. When the sailers settled, Tysen street is only like a quarter mile up from the Hudson, so it makes sense they started putting up their homes right there. Well that house was haunted no doubt about it. Think how many families probably lived there before us. We were cleaning out the basement and found old writing. In huge letters and numbers saying the house was built in 1886, and was home to 3 separate families at that time in the late 1800’s. I could tell you stories for days about that house. But an amazing area to grow up, and I practically grew up in snug harbor, such an awesome fun place for a kid to ride his bike around and just explore. Miss NYC. You did a decent job, having no prior knowledge of Staten Island, but you missed a lot and there’s one thing you were DEAD wrong about. SI is very very very well known for having some of the best food in the city, shoot in the whole tri-state area. One of the most authentic Italian joints. Opened in 1966, PASTOSA & nobody does it better. My family still orders from there a few times a year and has it delivered to Florida. The best homemade everything from sauces, to raviolis and all the classic dishes. They literally deliver nation wide that’s how popular it is. They also have some of the highest rated pizza joints as well. Deninos, Joe & Pats, Brothers pizza & Lee’s tavern. Just to name a few. you really missed the Mark on the food because you’ll be hard pressed to find a better foodie town.
