The boys clearly aren't UI tier at the moment, but they deserve something. Honestly, I'm just glad they called Yamcha in the previous arc. Genetically, the earthling heroes were not designed for even so much as Kaioken. But, I could easily see one or two of them having mastered (or at least managing) a dangerous technique like that after all these years. They're not super saiyan monsters or anything, but they are still Earth's champions! The story could throw them a bone once or twice.

UI Sign is basically what I've always thought Gohan's Mystic power-up should have been. It would have made so much sense as the culmination of his development in Z to forgo the rage boosts and desperation-fueled Super forms by embracing the power of serenity.
I always saw UI as just an upgraded Ultimate form. Both are not ssj transformations (something Gohan said he was going to attain), and both are based on Zen, meditation, and inner peace. Learning to channel rage into peace is a big aspect of martial arts to begin with, and it fits perfectly with Gohan's character development.

I genuinely can't believe the Tournament of Power ends with Goku not having mastered UI and having us think it's gonna be a long ride to mastery only for him to do so literally one arc later
Goku has came a long way since the Cell Saga: he's now training with Angels. Is this really any different to when he went from Saiyan-Saga Vegeta level to defeating Frieza in close to no time at all?
@@thepuzzlebox6620 whether or not him mastering a new form is par for the course for the series is irrelevant, that's not what I'm talking about right now. I'm talking about the wasted potential here. Mastered UI really could've been an end of series power up that Goku chases for a few arcs but instead he's already mastered a technique gods have. Where do you even go from here, it greatly limits where the series can go

Not really. Strength and the conditioning of the body also is a large requirement. Realistically outside of Goku only Jiren and Vegeta have the capability of accessing it.

@@maadtee6281 it's the extent of one's training and conditioning. The whole point with Moro attaining Ultra Instinct is that his body hadn't trained enough to the point of being able to handle it hence him about to explode. I doubt they have trained to that extent.
I think Piccolo deserved a UI power-up the most. He's the one character who actually has some experience of being a god what with Kami being his better half. He's also constantly in-the-know about opponents, he's incredibly observant and he's the one character who probably spent more time in quiet meditation than angry screaming on this entire show, haha. Ultra Instinct is a "zen-like" state rather than the fiery rage that is Super Saiyan, or the cold, suppressed rage of Super Saiyan Blue. It would be fitting to give it to one of the calmest characters and underdogs of the entire franchise.
Maybe make it so the attack by Moro on New Namek makes Piccolo's "Nail side" tingle and be like "Dude.. we should really become stronger. Our race was almost wiped out TWICE now and we couldn't do a thing about it."
Heck, I wouldn't even complain if Piccolo obtained the power in a relatively "easy" fashion. Goku literally randomly got it by falling into his own Genkidama, haha.
I don't think Piccolo needs it. In the 13 universes, there is a Namekian that is powerful enough to restore universes at once. How can Piccolo reach that power

I’m of the opinion they won’t give UI to anyone else. Look at what happened with Kaioken... it would have made sense for Piccolo, Tien, and Yamcha to have learned that ages ago when they were on King Kai’s planet but nope; would have been a game changer in the Android saga if Piccolo had Kaioken on top of his fusion with Kami. Even if it wouldn’t have destroyed him, Kaioken + Super Kikoho against Semi-Perfect Cell? =D
But I agree with you on Roshi and/or Piccolo achieving it if they give Ultra Instinct to someone else.

Piccolo getting Kaio Ken is a match made in Heaven. Namekians have really strong Regeneration so Piccolo could get to some rediculous numbers with Kaio Ken. But alas, if your name isnt Goku, you dont matter.

@@maadtee6281 From my bit of research, I'm seeing people saying that they did go to King Kai's in the manga. The filler, from what I'm reading, was the joke scenes and I think the fight against the Ginyu Force. How else would Gohan/Krillin come to the conclusion to wish Piccolo back first or wish him to Namek?
I refuse to call Vegeta new form Blue Evolution. It will always be called "Royal Blue" in my heart. It fits it perfectly.
Vegetta should have a purple final transformation for its own, you know, because he's royalty.
They need their own unique powers. There was a theory long ago that goku could only use defense UI and vegeta would learn offensive UI and be able to use it as fusion. But that’s too creative of a plot.

Sure they have pallette swaps in the OG series like Galvatron and Cyclonus, but when you give the Beast Wars guys upgrades, they go all out with them.
Good examples being Optimal Optimus or Dragon Megatron, or Cheetor getting to Transmetal 2. Genuine progression with the toys.
I like to think its less of "power" issue and more of a psychological fatigue. If he feels weakened its a distraction that hinders him entering the state. It doesnt seem like a UI thing and more of a goku character flaw. If he feels weak he blocks himself.

So ui is based off a real style of fighting Useing a particular ki. Vegeta has the opposite type of ki but that type of ki has a natural counter to the form. Aka i hope to god this is hinting at a god form of the other style to counter ui

Honestly, this discussion highlights while Kaioken is my favorite power up. It's not (in theory) limited to the sayains, and it comes with inherent risks and limitations meaning it has to be used judiciously.
Merging SSJ Blue with Kaioken was done in the perfect way (with SSJB being all about precise control in contrast to regular SSJ, so it made it possible to squeeze out more potential from the body even if it's super difficult - a point which also nicely illustrates that Goku isn't 100% dumb, he just lacks common sense).
I still think Kaioken could be explored more - what about Ultimate Kaioken? We know Ultimate form isn't really the very top and that it's possible to expand someone's potential (with Ultimate form allowing it to manifest in 100%). Do we know how exactly Kaioken works? In gaming terms: is it just another multiplier on top of base stats (like SSJ) or does it inherently increase base stats temporarily (like regular training or fusions)? If it's the latter, UK could become a real thing (and I don't think it'd retcon anything we knew about how Kaioken works even if it can come off as an obvious cop-out to give some more power to Gohan). Also seeing that blood-red aura on top of Ultimate Gohan would be a nice reference to his rage boosts (red = angry).

We all know that everyone can actually do it, but no one will try to do it.
We can see this, unfortunately, in the "Hyperbolic Time Chamber Saga" when Tien, the only human that up to that point was trying to somewhat keep up with the Sayians and Piccolo, just said "I think the chamber will be too much for me". Ok.
Given krillin and his ki control he learned before the tournament of power, he could be good with it

I legitimately can't see them shelving Ultra Instinct for anything else. TBH I fully expect Super to end in say....2028 latest? I mean it's stories for the record. So whatever's after Moro then maybe 2-4 more arcs.
It's not that there isn't lore. It's that characters are too strong and tension would always feel artificial. Uub is endgame so how much longer can they put him off?
We need to see Planet Sadala. We need to see a real Goku vs Beerus rematch. We need to see angel conflict that actually changes the rules of the universe. We need to see Broly get justice. We need to see canon Cooler. Finally we need 1 last Goku vs Vegeta. Everything else is unnecessary or has already been done. Gohan's arc is wrapped up tightly. Piccolo's too. Pretty much all the Z warriors. The untapped potential lies in Uub /Pan and kinda Goten and Trunks. Sounds like a lot but in reality DB is pushing it. Any new forms for Goku at this point would be super tasteless.
How they gonna beat the new villain without new forms tho. I can see them beating the next villain by fusing into MUI Vegito/Gogeta or something like that. But after that, I dont think even MUi with Fusion will cut it.

@@danmenard6917 Vegito is part Goku so it could work. Goku doesnt look like a person that can use MUI but he can. Also, MUI has been degraded into just another power up for Goku, and if 2 kids (Goten and Trunks) who only have Super Sayian achieve SS3 with Fusion, I think Vegito could manage MUI.
@@good8619 As I dont read the Dragon Ball manga, I only have the show to work off of, I was under the impression MUI is something that requires a certain frame of mind--that being stop thinking and just move. Something Vegeta can never achieve due to his being etremely reliant on tactical thinking (which is probably why he achieved Blue Evolution/Royal Blue/whatever) where Goku can never get it because of reasons unspecified.
Both fusions are complicated... Vegito always struck me as a boisterous show-off, so its certainly possible he could get MUI if he shut his brain off and just moved. Gogeta... well, he became a palette swapped Vegito thanks to the Broly film (extremely unfortunate because the DBZ Gogeta was stoic and precise) so he'd probably get MUI too.

their Fusion at least be able to use Omen.
I also greatly prefer the Omen version the silver mastered variant is just too much. I prefer the more subtle style of Omen.
Facts, OMEN was a goon
I feel like Omen/Sign works so well because it perfectly expresses the form's power/mindset. It's not driven by rage or strength; it's a zen-like mental state based purely on instinct. It feels like you're facing down an impossibly skilled martial artist who doesn't need to flaunt their strength or make a show of it, but you can still sense there's something 'impossible' about the guy. If that makes sense?
Mastered Ultra Instinct just looks too much like a Super Saiyan form and it promptly loses a lot of the mystique Omen/Sign had.

@@Magnegro It wouldn't have been so bad if UI had better pacing. Omen should have been all that we saw in the ToP. Then the Moro arc is about him trying to acquire Omen at will, then Mastered UI in the Granola arc.
I hope this next arc focuses on getting other characters finding ways to catch up and stand out in the aftermath of Moro and the Universe Survival arc. If anyone could obtain UI, and be useful with it, it would be Gohan and Piccolo. Have them train with Whis, leading to Gohan getting SSJ God and Whis helping Piccolo explore his dormant god ki. Hell, maybe instead of UI we could see them using God Ki in brand new ways. Potentially Mystic Gohan form combinig with the god form and Piccolo using his god ki to do magic shenanigans (or revive Demon King Piccolo stuff and roll with some new demon ki stuff).
Vegeta could return to Yardrat and finish his training. Or maybe Vegeta learns to master Saiyan God since Saiyan pride and all that. Maybe gains Mastered Saiyan God Ki and we never have to see Blue again... please....
I agree with everything except vegeta mastering SSG and using it instead of SSB, it sounds dumb considering he could just master the stronger form.
@@thatorangeguy5312 I meant more ascending the SSJ God forms in general, I tend to lump God and Blue together cause they're so similar.
I'd like to see a final, mastered version of the god state. I see Blue as the equivalent to the various grades of SSJ1 in the Cell Saga. I think bringing in what would be the SSJ2 transformation to God forms, efficient and able to use full power, would be really cool. And make it a different color or a variant of the Red God form, something different that doesn't make Vegeta look like a Blueberry flavored gummy.
@@eth102 I see your point, its just that unlocking ANOTHER set of forms would be kinda repetitive. Since they already gave vegeta a new weird form which is basically a plot device to make him stronger, adding a whole new set a forms would'nt really be needed, maybe for the other humans but giving vegeta another form in the future doesn't sit well with me. Not saying its a bad idea though, as SSG got kicked out of the curb by blue just an arc later and it would be refreshing to do something with the form, its a pretty good concept.
@@thatorangeguy5312 I could see it working if the form was 1.) Treated with finality. As in this form is Saiyan God at it's peak. 2.) Vegeta has to train and transform on screen to obtain it. Maybe pull from Masako's idea of specific states for Goku and Vegeta that focus on emotional aspects they aling with. Goku obtains UI from clearing his mind of emotion and letting his body act. Play on the raw emotion trigger of Super Saiyan and Vegeta as a person. Specifically, his love for his family as sort of a catalyst for reaching mastered saiyan god. Vegeta being a family man is a big part of Super and thematically fits Vegeta's progression as a character.
Idk I'm just spit balling at this point to make it work. I can see the drawbacks of "Saiyan God But Better" as that's always been a flaw of the series. But I do feel that the Saiyan God form needs to go and end somewhere for the series and Vegeta is the one who would be obtaining that form over anyone else.
Or he goes back to Yardrat and learns to become Giant Vegeta SSGSS.
@@eth102 Well im not the biggest fan of that ascended blue form that vegeta uses, so I wouldn't mind seeing it be replaced. The only problem I have is the fact that they could do the same thing with blue. If blue is grade one, cant it do the same things as regular super sayain can except with god ki?
In my opinion, Ultra Instinct should _just_ be a state of mind, and _not_ yet another physical transformation with a new hair color and all that jazz.
Make it a little like kioken except can't stack, a power up that anyone can learn with a huge amount of training, meditating ect.
I've always felt like it seemed the "transformation" was for the audience and the characters reaction was more just something they felt was different about goku not something they saw

@@epicgamerman2000 I still don't think they physically saw the aura the auras have always been more for the audience and you got me with the white hair when he mastered it. But based of the description of what it actually is a physical change doesn't make sense I guess I'll just call it my head cannon for now. Or I'll interpret it as a technique so angelic in nature that it causes you to take on a more angel like appearance.

At least not just Saiyans can access this power eventually.
It's amazing how they "wasted time" creating SSB just to see goku be bested by Freeza and his band. They should concentrate on him mastering SSG form (which was capable of keeping up w/ Beerus). Plus, a evolution on the form that gave him the power to battle the G.O.D never was "clearly" more powerfull then anyone Goku faced. Even when Gohan trained for 2 weeks (jk) he was able to "beat" SSB

Piccolo getting UI would make perfect sense, he is the calm, strategic meditative pseudo-god.
Back in the 90s, when DBZ was still being fan-dubbed and the official dubbs were just getting around to being made, I had started to theorize that the universe's most powerful beings might actually end up being Humans.
This was based on the fact that Gohan's abilities constantly rivaled his father's fully adult abilities. Gohan was a hybrid, not pure sayan and not pure human. In cannon, it was supposed that the diluted Sayan blood in the kid would handicap him for life, constantly making the pinnacle of Sayan power ever elusive. Yet, instead of being weaker, he developed to higher levels with relative ease, finally surpassing his Father at the end of the Cell arc. Then Trunks and Goten both reached SS1 before the age of 5 (or so, the timeline seems a little squishy to me) and were able to hide their abilities from their fathers who both had developed high levels of sensitivity to sensing strong Ki. The common factor was that all three had Human blood in them as well as the powerful Sayan blood.
Yet, Humans as a race are considered weak and worthless, not even considered worth the effort to conquer by other races. Kacarot was only sent there because it might have been the only planet such a weak Sayan could conquer. But Earth had fighters like Master Roshi, capable of exceeding their limits (a feat thought impossible by everyone in the Freiza Empire). In DragonBall, Goku's constant rival was Krillin, a human able to keep up with the alien's development. Humans had simply not been exposed to a reason to develop into powerful beings, and when exposed to such motivation were generally capable of doing so.
My personal theory became a favorite thought, and I had always hoped that Krillin would be able to step back into the spotlight and take his place next to Goku, becoming the drive Goku used to improve himself. I wanted to see the story where Krillin discovered a power-up ability that Goku couldn't copy, because like SSJ1+ which were exclusive transformations to the Sayan race, there had to be an intrinsic power exclusive to Humans. Yet, the Cell Arc saw Krillin drop off the screen more often, the Buu Saga saw less and less of the non-Sayans, and by GT (I know, but it exists) none of the non-pure-blood Sayans meant anything at all. (Except Pan, who re-sparked my hope to see a main fighter that wasn't Goku or Vegita. And I was let down again.)
By the time DB Super came around, I had lost hope in the franchise. I've still never finished the Buu saga (also because is so damn long-winded with entire episodes making no progress on the storyline) or GT (which barely felt like a DB story at all) I watched the first small arc, only to discover that only Sayans mater again. I'm so far behind the storyline of the anime that, at this point, I don't see myself trying to come back to the fold.
However, if Killian or any of the Human/Sayan hybrids discovered an exclusive power that the Sayans can't have, then I think I'd care a lot more about coming back. (It's the same reason I hate Superman as a hero. None of his powers matter in the long run because they're exclusive to Kryptonians on planets with yellow suns. Which actually makes them the dumbest race in the universe.)
I like that theory. DBZ lost my interest for the same reason Superman comics no longer appeal to me: the best hero Earth had to offer is an alien from another world. Great, they lived here. Superman and Goku are the mightiest heroes on Earth and it isn't because they were raised or trained here.
It is kinda the "Saiyans rule, humans drool" attitude of DBZ that exemplifies how unattainable these power levels were for humans. The term mortal doesn't seem to really apply to these god-like beings. It's kind of like watching One Punch Man but the writers are trying to hide the fact the hero is unbeatable. And in DBZ it is perhaps worse since once Goku achieves a power level or transformation once thought unattainable, suddenly every Saiyan can do it. And like super easy, barely an inconvenience.

If I'm being honest I feel like ultra instinct was introduced too early even though I love the form a lot, it as a concept should have been saved for the endgame because there's very few ways (if any) to go from here I would have preferred something like your SSO (sparking joy) transformation so that UI is the last form Goku has and attains because it's very difficult to go higher from here if it is even possible

Personally I feel like it was introduced too late. Honing your technique is very much a more effective way to boost your strength than honing your strength. It should've been done long before they started having the power to blow up planets.

You seem to be forgetting the crucial trait of Goku's character; the fact that, when he reaches a new level of power, his body teaches itself how to produce that level of power by itself. This is kinda the reason Goku keeps getting so powerful, as pointed out by both Beerus and Vegeta.
So from a character design perspective, it is sort of obligatory that Goku at some point be able to access these forms at will; otherwise, his character would be inconsistent.

Anchovy Bushwack but as stated in the video, it didn’t have to be so soon; why not let the series ride for a bit before he just masters this new form, letting that be the finale of Super or something? And knowing Goku, his first move is going to be mastering the energy constraints, and once that’s done the series is over. How do you improve a character beyond autopilot? Plus because enemies have to start matching him, UI is going to make both destroyers and itself look stupid. Goku is gonna start running into people who can challenge/defeat destroyers left and right, and he is reasonably close to being there as well. How are any of the universes safe at all?
@@saltycaptain713 Honestly, I agree with you that the series rushes things way too much; and personally, I think the power hierarchy it has established is far too simplistic, in the sense that it allows the things you've mentioned to happen so frivolously. In my opinion they've written themselves into a bit of a trap; there aren't many places to go from here.
I'm not defending the show as a whole, but specifically the idea that Goku is able to master his transformations so quickly; this is kind of the point of Goku, and the poor timing that this can create is the fault of the environment and not his character.
I think what disappoints me is that when he first turned into ultra instinct Sign he moved VERY differently. It started against Kefla, but by the time he got to the battle with jiren, it was just a power up. It was flashy and fun. But it wasn’t like when he first reached it

A story where the overusage of UI starts making some of the Gods (But not the GM and Zeno) get scared of U7s fighters and the potential that other strong universes could start reaching similar levels of strength with the potential threat that would pose would be interesting as hell, something where there's still fights but the Villains aren't straight up bad guys so much as people wanting to ensure they're still the dominant force or a straight up Celestial Civil War arc where some of the gods that'd be more likely to look favourably on U7 (eg. Beerus, Champa and Rumsshi) take on some of the other Gods (eg. Sidra) that would be more suspicious of the powerful U7 mortals.
Yeah but a lot of people would find no sense to that, especially since U7 is the only reason the other universes still exist right now, including the ones that were exempted from the tournament. You'd think they have some form of gratitude to the guys who ensured they continued existing

It's been a solid small plot thread for most of the Godly part of Super that Goku being so friendly and casual with the Gods is completely abnormal and that some of the Gods do not like it very much for example. Maybe it'd be less of a civil war and more of a "The Gods are hazing the crap out of Goku and co now they're reaching that level" deal thinking about it.

I wonder if the white haired Mastered UI exists literally for the merch, haha. Among all forms, Omen is probably the hardest to capture as a merchandise figure. The hair is a liiiittle more wavy and he has these awesome eyes, but aside from that it's the aura and the movement that does the heavy lifting in the anime. Can't really convey that without some seriously nifty posing, or sculpting.
Meanwhile, Mastered will just be "Goku with White Hair" for the most part.

Kami having god ki actually explains why Piccolo powered up so dramatically during the cell saga. I always found it weird that a weak non-combative Namekian like Kami could give Piccolo such a boost.

The premise really, because Beerus straight up tells us that there is a multiverse and says rather explicitly that he is only the strongest being in our Universe. This implies that the multiverse itself is a completely open game, and they immediately cut off its legs with an arbitrarily low amount of universes and that Universe 7 is basically one of the strongest instead of something interesting like them just being the weakest.

Firstly, Bermouth is probably...one of the weakest. In the manga, in the GoD match, were Beerus shows some of his usage of UI, Bermouth actually...plays to be defeated on the ground, either for being too weak to fight the others or because he seemed it pointless.
Second, yes, Goku _has_ to fight the strongest, but I mean, he cannot _truly_ fight GoDs, as they are not only not "bad", but they are also immortal. Geez, in the manga, Perfect SSB Vegeta barely managed to SHAKE Beerus' hand. GoDs are still on another league of _power_ itself.

The character I'd love to see achieve UI the most is actually Broly. I know his character is basically just DB's Hulk, that his power is tied to his frame of mind, but knowing what UI requires I think it would be a really interesting dynamic for Broly's character.

In my opinion, there’s an option that’s even more compelling: have the consequences ripple out. Goku is the only mortal in all the universes to be able to use Ultra Instinct to the extent he’s taken it. That gets people’s attention, especially from other divine beings. In particular, Granola has a lot of potential. He wants 7-3 because Merus’ angel power, and thus Ultra Instinct, might be in there somewhere. Let’s say this doesn’t work, obviously 7-3 would still have to play a role in the arc, but Granola would have to go elsewhere to use UI. Where does he go? He goes to Goku. Joins the Galactic Patrol, gains the trust of Merus and the group, and after knowing that Goku is kindhearted, takes that to his advantage and is trained by Goku. And then, we have a villain who can use UI. What he does with it, I don’t know, but Goku will have a huge bounty on him once everyone knows he can use UI (and trust me, they will know)

I really do wish Ultra Instinct was more of something Goku was stiving toward, and more like a mysterious power he had yet to fully attain, not until the finale _at least_ if at all. Even for Vegeta maybe, but that would of course have to be a that or something more is what he's aiming for kind of thing.
I honestly like the SIlver haired version of UI, for me, it gives it a more godly feel, ESPECIALLY when it was bathed in that black and white aura when he grabbed jirens blast in his hands and crushed it. I also always wanted a form with white/silver hair, UI would look amazing on gogeta.

In my opinion the character that should get ultra instinct after Goku is Tenshinhan because even in universe explanation it will make more sense especially with how he have been training all of his live and how his mind and body will be perfect for it. In the case of the profitability there is one way Toriyama, Toei, and Toyotaro can make cool and that's by giving him the following:
1- Making him a part of the big boys just like in dragon ball by giving him an actual motivation that will moves the plot rather than just bring him because of his usefulness in marital arts.
2- Making him create new techniques rather than just using kikoho all the time.
3- Changing his design in both cloth and appearance when transforming into ultra instinct.
4- Making him hate vegeta like in dbza ( Not needed but it will be cool if that happened )
Tenshinhan is honestly one of the best characters in the series but with how Toriyama, Toei, and Toyotaro are using him only for fighting henchmen's and not giving him a real motivation in the series will be a real wasted potential but even with that hopefully they do something great with him at least in the future when dragon ball super is back.

While it's ultimately an interesting video, it's also simply not going to happen. Dragon Ball, Z and Super have followed very clear formulas thus far and I don't think they'll change it: Goku, new power, companion that is relevant for one saga. I'm actually surprised that Vegeta was relevant for as long as he was, but even he seems to be slowly falling off the map as the sagas move on.
Let's be completely honest here and admit that Dragon Ball isn't known for its superb writing. It's honestly not even known for average writing. The story has always been cliché and boring. The only difference between King Piccolo and Moro, for example, is that King Piccolo was the first one and thus new. Moro is a repeat of a repeat (Slug) at this point. And frankly, that's what is going to keep happening. More tournaments, more space shenanigans, more ridiculously powerful Earth foes spawning out of nowhere. Same old, same old.
I'd like to see SSJ4 appear. Maybe as like the "true SSJ God" form. Then be paired with UI. I think Krillin getting UI would be amazing. I've always felt he needed a power boost to level him back out with Goku like in the early days of Dragonball.

By the looks of things the next step is for Goku to learn "spirit energy' like Vegeta did. You mentioning the Spirit Bomb seems to indicate this is part of the plan as it was the Spirit Bomb that unlocked Ultra Instinct for Goku. I agree that him being able to access it at will so soon is a bummer, I would've preferred him being able to use Ultra Instinct Sign at best and only accessing Mastered Ultra Instinct when facing a multiversal threat. I do like the limited nature of Ultra Instinct though, more people being able to access it devalues it in my opinion especially when they're considerably weaker.

I'm glad you brought up Piccolo as a candidate. I think he's the most likely candidate since one of the key points Whis always stressed was that Goku needed to learn how to move without thinking. In a way this would necessitate clearing your mind, something that Piccolo would be an expert at, being someone who frequently meditates. After having seen Goku use this form, I think he could figure it out.
The added benefit is that if he managed to obtain this form, I think he'd be very eager to teach the technique to Gohan.
I can also see Tien obtaining this form. He's very disciplined, so he would also possibly have the right mindset to obtain this form.

There seems to be a progression of these things, where they become less special over time in order to hype the next transformation, but it seems unsustainable longer term. Even something like him needing enough energy or God Ki or whatever to go mastered UI was something that once applied to every single transformation he’s ever had. And then he masters the energy usage. And then he wants to “go beyond”. And so on and so forth. The best part of the direction of the Moro arc is having characters like Vegeta and even Master Roshi being able to learn or tap into new, unique abilities that offer more utility and creates more opportunities for those characters, even in supporting roles. Yeah, Goku is always going to “get stronger, fight the big bad guy, the end”, but at least having more of these situations where someone else was needed to make it happen, and doing so in a unique way (just like the original Vegeta fight) adds some more spice.
UI Krillin, Piccolo or Roshi would be incredible to see.

Ultra instinct is a very clever way to keep power creep in check. It's technically not a power boost, it just clears the mind and enhances reflexes. It's also one of the few transformations not tied to genetics or magic, which means anyone can obtain. It doesn't fix the problem of it being the new standard form, but it can keep the stakes from getting raised for a while by spending time on everyone learning it.

I like the roshi against jiren scene Masako. It makes sense given how roshi/jackie-chun fights in several of his earliest fights that he'd have some understanding of the form. Dudes really old and it's nice to see that he didn't waste those years for nothing. Jiren also likely wasn't going to go all out against an old man.
Piccolos access to mild god ki would also explain why he was able to tell who shin was in the buu saga
