Would you say that the 2023 version of the zephyrus g14 runs cooler or quieter than the 2022? I had the 2022 version but had to return it due to quality control issues so I’m debating which I should buy now.
Stealth 14 vs Alienware X14 R2 vs G14 will be a heck of a comparison this year.
For the bottom panel- all of the screws come out. Isn’t there supposed to be a pop-up screw that doesn’t come out? Is my 4060 laptop defective?
Saw that the vbios for the asus 4070 is out so I’m gonna try to flash it with my current laptop 4070 on my clevo system to see if there is a difference in voltage.

Did they fix the usb-c charging issue this year?
I have the 2022 version and the issue with usb-c charging is that when you reach 100% (or whatever max you set), it doesn't switch to powering the system directly using usb-c. It would continue power the system using the battery and keep charging the battery with usb-c, which will reduce the battery longevity. You will notice that since the laptop will keep going back and forth between 99% and 100%.
Using the ac adapter would not have the same problem since the system will detect when the battery is fully charged, then it would power the system directly from the ac adapter.
the USB C isnt powerful enough to keep the system powered, its just powerful enough to charge it (surpass usage) but it needs to be far more powerful to sustain 100% on AC
@@schizofennec Not entirely true. If 100W PD is not enough to keep the system powered, then the battery won't even get charged in the first place. However, it is true that it won't be enough to keep the system running at full speed. It comes down to the system power management. It's like when you are running on battery, they have a lower power mode for you, which forces the CPU and GPU to consume less power.
Again, it is Asus power management, they should implement something like that for PD mode.

damn even on battery its staying at 4ghz my intel 12650h stays at 1-2 ghz on normal use and it STILL gets warm

Can I ask you a question.. I just got this laptop, same specs (RTX4060 etc) and this beast gets HOT. 1 round of fortnite left me with a CPU temp of 92C and GPU temp of 68C. It got so hot that the space between the power button and 4 keys on top is touchable sure, but not for long. I came from a 1640 (I think it was) so I cranked up a lot of settings and it looks awesome, but that comes with a huge heat bump. Also do you forsee any issues with the design of the cooling. The 2 primary exhaust ports are on the back of the chassis, which when the screen is open, blows all that hot air right on that display. I utilize an external display so I can keep the lid closed and the exhaust unimpeded
Temps are safe, but yes, the chassis above the keyboard runs hot!
It’ll be okay for now, but after a while it will require you to replace the thermal paste. Mine was like that too, but I had to do surgery deep in the computer, I forgot what I did but I watched some videos about it and it dropped from 90°C to around 65°C ish on some very demanding games. Just look up some videos on how to help cool it
Dude this is very tipical with asus and ryzen, after 6-8 months you’ll see even 100-103C. Intel has better temp management.

I am planning to buy zephyrus M16/G16/G14 or strix G16. Although, I do want to play games but not as intensive as most people. Cuz g14 have temp issues, is it safe to say that zephyrus lineup run hot?
I suggest you disable boost performance from the power plan settings. The performance hit is not much but it will make your system run 10 C cooler. Also undervolting would help with the temps

Hi, I have the G14 2023 with rtx 4060. I did a clean windows reinstall via a usb. The Asus recommended power plan is missing . How do I recover this?
The power plan shows silent equivalent to balanced mode in windows setting, performance and turbo is showing as high performance in windows settings. Could you please advise?
And I am not able to switch to eco mode. My nvidia settings is on auto ( advanced optimus)

That would be nice to have, but I disagree about it being more important than gamut coverage. Most consumers won't care about color accuracy, and those who care will do the calibration anyway

I tried stealth 14 4060, even without the security issue, it feels cheap vs the Trident 300 se. Plus it runs hot AF, it was hitting 97c all the time on full fan, not sure how he didn't in the review. Not a gamer but content creator. The g14 doesn't have thunderbolt, that kills The asus for me. Had the acer Trident 300 se bit found out new 40xx is coming so i returned it and that's how i tried the MSI. In the end i pre ordered the acer Trident 14 studio 4070, and the cooling is going to be much better. I really like a metal laptop. I am seeing high high pricing on the 4080 and 4090 laptops and they do seem to be double a 4060 or 4050

On my G14, when I use MSI Afterburner, it cannot measure the CPU temperature. It measures everything else, except that. I've already tried configuring it in several ways, even including the Aida64 and HWinfo plugins. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Did you update your afterburner to the latest version? HWInfo also ties into Riva, so use that to monitor things afterburner cannot.

@@exeplays4357 depends on how deep your pockets are. If you're on a budget, then the 2022 G14 is a steal, when on sale at Best Buy
nvidia needs to add the ability to raise up the screen on a a resolution that doesn't fill the screen (like 16x9 on a 16x10 screen) to the top of the screen
especially for 16 x10 laptops I want 16x9 and one large black bar at the bottom and the f the visual raised up to the top of the monitor for closer to straight on viewing
Do you recommend getting the 4060 version or the 6700s previous model at $999?
I know this is old and you’ve probably decided, but I was in the same boat. Ordered both but settled on the 4060 before the 6700 even arrived. I was playing on a Lenovo Legion 7 slim with a 6800 which also had the same Ryzen 9 as the G14, and then compared directly to the G14 with upgraded Ryzen 9 and 4060. The performance in the same games at same settings was considerably better on the 4060.
If you factored in the heat issues reported in the 6700 G14, I’d say this 4060 actually does very well on thermals. The display is also really nice @ 165hz instead of 120hz.
For me it’s easy. The 4060 version seems like a win over the 6700. Even against the 6800 I think it’s a win due to even worse thermals. But my games are doing really well on the 4060, and support for DLSS and frame generation helps even more.
I say 4060 all day. I upgraded to a 2TB SSD and added another 16GB of RAM and it’s a little monster for its price point.

@@Sumokap honestly man it blue screened on me and didn’t recognize the SSD several times in a day after the upgrade which was done “professionally”
I returned it and bought a MacBook Pro. Honestly as a laptop and personal computer it’s leaps and bounds ahead. As a gaming device, it works with what’s compatible… but I pretty much gave up on windows so whatever.
I didn’t notice any difference in gaming performance for the short time I was able to test it with the extra RAM though. But I only really tried Diablo 4 which isn’t insanely demanding, but it ran fine before too.
I got the 2021 G14 I wish I waited a year or two for the webcam, kind of need it for work now so I had to get a MacBook Air

I was originally debating between GA402RJ and GA402RK as all AMD fanboys should. While GA402RJ/6700s version is getting deep discounts, I could not find the same for GA402RK/6800s. That was troubling as I had my heart set on GA402RK, and I can get this GA402XV/rtx4060 for about $150 more.
I got GA402RK/rtx4060 at the end, but I don't think anyone will be unhappy for getting GA402RJ for the price today. GA402RJ is a steal.
6800 is on sale at best buy. Im debating between the 6700 and 6800. I heard theres almost no difference. What makes you lean towards 6800?

Would you mind doing some benchmarks of just the 780M? On reddit none of us can get the TimeSpy news outlets or ETA Prime are getting, only about 1600-1700 Time Spy for us while they are reporting 2600 or more. Another RUclipsr said they "finally fixed" their 780M with a bios setting ( ruclips.net/channel/UCGFobW-7YfVpqniNnQqe0Rgcommunity?lb=UgkxEWNlv3OIlZ4nHwz6AhoXPP3zUrD38bXP ) and got their TimeSpy up to 2600, but the rest of us with G14's haven't had any luck fixing the incredibly slow performance of the 780M

Not sure if you found the answer but yes you can do that by going to Eco Mode from the armoury crate software

Guys help I’m about to get my first pc , I’m stuck on this one the 4060 512 gb one $999 on Best Buy , or the Legion slim 5i 4060 1TB $1050 , I like the lights on the g14 and the look more , but I heard it gets super hot , and with the legion slim it has no rgb keyboard ( huge L ) bad speakers cost a lot more and I’m pretty sure can’t update the ram
I like both a lot but the g14 for example like I said gets real hot and only has 512 gb , and the legion slim has no rgb keys bad speakers , but a 1tb , it’s all pros and cons someone help this is a hard decision
If you want the build quality and a discrete look to the laptop then a G14 but, if you want more power then maybe a legion slim

Your laptop has a GPU wattage problem. I had the same with mine.
In the Benchmarks everything is fine but on normal settings for example CoD you only getting 80 watts on the GPU ( although i know above is bearly a difference).
Also you are getting these weird lines on weapons on the grouns due to this problem.
The technician changed internal cooling parts and everything was fine.

Both could be good. Some vidoe editing applications prefer amd gpus over nvidia, but usually nvidia is better imo. If you are in a tight budget, the older versions are worth it if you get the higher end quality QHD screen versions. The 1080p version has some ghosting to the display, which makes it harder to recommend for all types of gaming.
You cut a lot of video out that could be added in around 12:40-12:56 about taking the middle three screws out. I just broke the plastic bottom lid in the middle around the headphone jack. ASUS decided to cover the three middle screws with rubber. They didn't leave the screws exposed, so I couldn't see them. Instead of prying like a monkey, I would have went for the three screws in the middle with a screwdriver if I had known they were there. I will be trying to warranty this lid with ASUS. They need to stop covering screws with rubber.
That sucks! But also, whenever opening a laptop up, be gentle. If it requires a lot of force, you probably forgot to take out a screw or two.

I'm really happy and sad to see Nvidia gpus in this year's g14. Let me explain. I'm happy because the g14 is a top of my list for a mobile gaming platform that can play destiny 2 and Amd 6000 series had major stutter issue In that game so I'm glad to be back to Nvidia. If I wasn't playing destiny 2 I'd still hope this was AMD GPU.
