He had mad father-in-law energy for me. Apparently Anora would shy away from the topic of grandchildren. Good thing I had a hardened Leliana as my courtly piece of side action. The fact that all of the above is entirely possible in Origins shows how bad Veilguard really is.
This-… is bizarre… I always believe in second chances, but when I think about how betrayed Alistair would feel if I gave Loghain that… I just can’t bring myself to consider it. I’m starting DA fairly late (due to various circumstances), and I’m still not quite finished Origins yet. But I ended up getting some small spoilers when my BioWare recommended clips had specific titles. (That being said, I also accidentally stumbled across some spoilers when I was trying to figure out how to not screw up some quests, so it probably would’ve happened either way.) Anyways! My point was that it’s so odd to see Loghain like this when I’ve been conditioning myself to view him as being morally wrong and a threat to Feralden.
In order to understand him and his decisions you need to read Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne and Dragon Age: The Calling. He was a great man and he made equally great mistake. Cauthrien once said "Without Logain there would be no Ferelden to defend." and she is right.
Yeah, I mean their voice actors are there. I really think that if Loghain or Alistair remain as Wardens they should had been part of the party in Awakening. Such wasted potential.
@@SeventhheavenDK I think having them there as full party members would have posed a few story complications, especially with things like companion quests that everyone (including Oghren) had in Awakening. If Alistair is king, I can understand why he wouldn't be available. And given Loghain's actions in Origins, I can understand why even the Grey Wardens would want him out of Ferelden for the time being. They ARE trying to be apolitical, after all. That said, having the ability to delay his transfer to Orlais until after the events of Awakening would have been an interesting touch, and given the lack of Ferelden Wardens, it makes sense. Alistair could be workable as well, but I imagine it would be a bit tricky. Alas, I think part of the reason why both characters were given merely a small appearance was to reduce the costs of the DLC?
Loghain: "Ah, my wee best friend and former foe!"
I've just had this encounter playing as King-Consort Cousland, and Loghain has huge "if you hurt my daughter I'll kill you" energy

I do find it a LITTLE annoying that they didn't make it remotely possible for you to have Loghain as a companion in Awakening.

What is the item that he gives you?
@Dave169w A battleaxe named Frenzy (two copies can be obtained from other means), ten Sovereigns, and Grey Warden heraldry for a shield.
