I came looking for the "Quick-Fix" way to test my O2 Sensor, but what I found was a very in depth tutorial how to test it. This is far above my knowledge to understand. I am giving you a thumbs up because you did a great job giving highly detailed instructions, but your title should state, "O2 Sensor In depth test", rather than "O2 Sensor Test Quick-Fix, because this is beyond most people's ability to do.
Hello William, I'm an old dog too. The issue is not year is bucks. No bucks, no Buck-Rogers and that's what my products do. What I want is to design the easiest to use software, easy-read-books and videos, and dead easy or even automatic diagnostic equipment. We just posted a new page yesterday on our upcoming equipment, THey're not for sale yet but see when I mention what it's made for. Anyhow, thank you very much for posting. Here's the new page:....www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/auto_repair_equipment_catalog.html
Clicking THUMBS-UP is not trivial. We need your SUPPORT. Without you this channel is impossible to do. Give us your support by clicking THUMBS UP on our videos. Thank you for the support.
ADPTraining Just delete "quick-fix" from the title, and you will have my thumbs up (for a good informative video), and I'm pretty sure every thumb you get from now on.
Thanks. I have done research on o2 sensors for my 2004 Jetta so I understood your fine video. I changed the downstream and now I show no codes. Time will tell if the check engine light stays off.
One question. I connect Bluetooth car scanner and check the value of each sensor. The downstream (2 wire) o2 sensor value always remains @ 1.28v regardless of throttle position (during running as well as stopped engine). The scanner failed at catalytic converter test. I tested the voltage across the 2 wire from ECU with multimeter and it shows 4.45v open voltage. Then I connect the wire to the sensor to check if there is any difference, the voltage still remains the same. I tried to measure the resistance between the 2 wires from the sensor but it's open, it's does not show any value even in 200M range. Is my oxygen sensor bad? Or am I missing some procedure? Please let me know if there is any other process to confirm the bad sensor
My daihatsu mira 2014 model upstream O2 take two mins to give reading and crawls up to 0.9V whereas the downstream senor gives 0v most of time on idle. This happend just right after getting catalytic converter washed up. What could be the reason behind it

are u saying during misfire, even though raw fuel is sent to exhaust, O2 will command lean condition and ECM will in turn send more fuel, making more rich but O2 will see more and more lean..
Exactly, remember that during a misfire the cylinder becomes an Air-Pump, pumping air and raw fuel. So, poor O2 sensor thinks well it excess O2, ECM send in a wider pulse. That's why anytime you have a misfire and the Fuel-Trims are at +25% think about this issue. Most systems today will shut-off the injector during a misfire, but for some reason, some ECM are not that smart or use a different rational and keep pulsing the injector.
if o2 sensor not connecting the check engine not lamb on and if it connecet also the check is still not lamb .iam sure the lamb is working in any another sensor.what do you think the problem is in.thanx for all vedios.
I have a Mercedes diesel engine light on, code 141 from scanner. The code is for a diesel engine. My fuel average is very good. If sensor is bad, how come my fuel consumption is that good?
Looking to trade my Mazda 6 for a nice modded car of the same or lower miles as mine (171k+) Came across someone with a 2001 Toyota Celica with the O2 light on. I have a tad knowledge on cars, but this is the first time I've fallen in love with a really nice car. But I don't want any problems or waste too MUCH money! Help?
Good question... Yes there is a hole. You can't see it because it's under the metal shield, but it's there. In fact, an issue on older vehicles and those exposed to lots of mud and dirty oily environment at the O2 sensor, if the sensor is inoperative, clean it and if the tiny hole gets cleared, it back to normal. Knowing from your previous comments, you might say, well, replace the O2 sensor. It is by firm believe that a repair shop DOES NOT make money by changing parts, and the customer's repair cost is much higher. The more unnecessary parts on a repair, the costlier, and the LESS MONEY that YOU and the SHOP will make. Parts = Overhead/Expenses. Thanks for commenting.
I knew someone would be after I'd released this video. You're going to have to do your own research. Take an old O2 sensor and carefully, remove the metal shield. Watch don't cut yourself. Is there. You can also do a brief research on Google or any one of the O2 manufacturers and read up on it. I do love the fact that you don't take anything for granted and DEMAND proof. That's good. Keep it up.
Keep disagreeing with me and agreeing at other times. This is exactly what is all about. That's how the truth is uncovered. Also thanks for taking the time to comment.
thanks for the video I have this code 2C9F can you please tell me what is the problem? [oxygen sensor heating after catalytic converter 2, activation] i don't have check engine light. my car is x5 E70 2007 4.8i
What you MUST understand AND, take into consideration IS... that the AVERAGE guy out here does NOT have sophisticated, expensive test equipment to REALIZE these kinds of tests. What WE want is a BARE BONES, STRAIGHT SHOT ANSWER TO how to REMEDY the situation, NO MATTER WHAT THE TOPIC regarding car engines might be. SO, SKIP all the CRAP and give us the REAL, BOTTOM-LINE SOLUTIONS!
Their is no free lunch with these newer cars/trucks . No Quick fix. You must learn it, and buy the test equipment. It's called survival. Don't become a dinosaur, Learn to adapt to change. Unless you want to .. Pay The MOB $
Your videos are great. BUT those damn pop-ups begging us to subscribe are annoying and hell. Please, if you content is good you needn't beg for thumbs up and subscribers. I am a subscriber but hate the pop-ups, you may lose me as a subscriber.

This was much more technical information than most of us can completely grasp but it was useful info and well presented. Thanks so much for posting!
William Ross I appreciate that Mr Ross. Hope to see you here in the future.
ADPTraining I'm an old dog, not ready for new tricks. But I can see the value in what you offer.

Thanks for the video. You may as well have been speaking Amharic, because I didn't understand one thing.

Read my Ebook
Why is "silicone paste" bad for oxygen sensor? And is the paste the same as the grease? Thank you.
Coats the sensor. www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=F9W5VPHTGWBV6
i did not realize it was such a simple fix...thax
Cool
Thanks for the info very informative. How about the rear O2 sensor, how does it differ from the upstream one.
Best vid to the point no bs two thumbs up!

Ok
Excellent! What about a/f sensors?
SNAP THE THROTTLE! We want to PUMP, YOU UP! Just Kidding. Great video. I love learning how things work.
That talking robot needs an Oxygen Sensor, it sounds like it's choking...
Do you have videos explaining how MASS airflow sensor, MAP sensor, air temperature sensor work? And is there such a thing as air/fuel ratio sensor?

O2 sensors are small fuel cells.
They use any un-burned fuel to generate the signal voltage.
what is the normal working waveform of the Downstream oxygen sensor?my car is 0.3v basically no change a straight line.
That looks right, shouldn't change that much.
I learned something new today.

Can I get proper online training for auto diagnostics
I have a Mercedes diesel engine light on, code 141 from scanner. The code is for a diesel engine. My fuel average is very good. If sensor is bad, how come my fuel consumption is that good?
when the O2 sensor is on high voltage it means it's running rich?
7150285 Yes but on older engines also that the EGR valve is stuck open.
ADPTraining EGR valve is normally closed or open? I heard it only opens during heavy load or when accelerating?
7150285 Yes, your statement is correct. THat how the EGR valve or system works...
ADPTraining do you have a video explaining how EGR valve system works?
Yes, look it up on my channel ADPTraining. Just click the name and view the available video playlists and selection.
2:02 WHY ARE YOU HERE. TEST THE O2 SENSOR.
Ok

Description says how to fix it but unfortunately
👍
What's the matter with you people. Don't any of you have a masters degree? :)
