Things that would make this set perfect for me:
Slick tires
Wider rear tires/narrower front tires
Printed graphics instead of stickers
4 piece winglets on front wing instead of 3
The printed would be impossible they wouldn’t print for one set

@@ppsac1 Lamborghini and titanic did not have this many details

@@MitchellC564 They do it but not with technic but if you look at leo ideas and creator expert you'll see that it happens alot.
What does LEGO have against slick tires? :(

Man, most of those gaps could have been easily filled in with System pieces, I don't know why it was left like this.
That’s my biggest issue with technic. I get the design is for more functionality and lightweight but combining the interior as technic and a decent portion of the exterior with system. You’d get some awesome more detailed designs. Most new system expert builds have better functionality than technic now anyway
@@ciaramckee2891 What "functionality" do you get in those sets? There is literally no comparison. And Technic sets have always been augmented with System for aesthetic details, this just needed a couple of wedges and slopes here and there.
@@ciaramckee2891 i dont mind the look in sets like cranes excavators etc because the mechanism and functionality takes precedence but for things like this and most of the other cars i think the asthetics is just as important since they are meant to be display pieces
because those gaps aren't like your mom used to be dragged to the truck
Appreciate the video but this set is such a letdown. Wish they had just built an MCL35M model instead of trying to make a "2022" car when they knew they wouldn't have access to the '22 livery or anything beyond the FIA chassis. As it stands, the model has a '21 livery on the vague proportions of a '21 car but with minor suggestions of the '22 front and rear wings. I understand why they used treaded tires but why are they marked incorrectly when the $30 Mercedes set is correct? If the set was smaller or less expensive it wouldn't be a big deal, but it's very lacking at a $180 asking price.

Get come Red, Glossy Black, Silver or dark blue pieces, and you can make othr teams cars using this structure. Ima go and do that :)

Can confirm, it does not have one.
Maybe it has a differential only, and someone who made a press-release does not know the difference between the two...
it does indeed have only a simple differential on the rear axle
Could you confirm if front suspension is pullrod and back suspension pushrod? Video goes too fast...
They are pushrod both front and back

Please show its functions
Was looking forward to buying this, then saw a review. tyres all wrong, front fin only has 3 wings. Lego could have at least given us proper sized tyres instead of using the Tumbler tyres. Decided not to buy it

Oh my God, great video, but the set is so awful.
As an F1 and Lego fan I had so many expectations for a F1 lego car after so many years, but this set is so bad.
They basically took the 42000 set and changed the external look. In terms of structure and functionalities this set offers even less. Straight up copied front and rear suspension from the 42000 model, and they didn’t include any important functionality like the DRS.
They could’ve at least have done that and I wouldn’t be complaining, but they didn’t. They took an already existing model, changed colors and external look and released it as a 180€ set. Really disappointed
The angle of the blue part of the rear wing can be adjusted but I'm guessing true DRS would be more substantial than that?
@@BrickDepot-video I am kinda hoping for some mechanism/rod/slide/button to push it open or close instead of manually adjusting it. I don't think that's a huge complexity but well...
Why is the mclaren logo sticker on the tip of the nose upside down? Cool build nevertheless! can't wait till it's on sale!

The tires are just weird to me. Although, it kinda looks futuristic if you ignore the source material.

Weird looking halo, old 2021 livery , wet tier for no reason , wrong tier width , lots of stickers , no rare wing mechanic ...... Man this thing is lazy as F , hard to swallow as a true F1/McLaren fan......SMH

the part name for the tyre is TYRE, WIDE, DIA. 81,6X44 and the part ID number is 6199832. There are no other available sizes at this time for this model.

@@BrickDepot-video they really needed to be slicks and wider at the rear. The covers are not great either (I know it’s to mimic the 2022 F1 wheels)
@@StevieV i agree... wet tires doesn't really do it for me. I guess they wanted to put treads on and use existing tires to cut costs. Hence the "wet" tire choice and same widths front and rear. Kind of a bummer to be honest... how often do we see full wet tires on track anyway... maybe once or twice a year? Even if it's raining Intermediate tires are usually used.
