I remember when me and my siblings visited our grandparents, they always dug out some very, very old Lego which my Dad used to play with as a child in the 1950ies. I remember that there were even whole plastic cars. Seeing how it all evolved, those beautifully planned sets, great packaging, design and setup of the construction manuals with further details and pictures it is just pure joy to watch. Huge props on this video as well. Very calming!
Did you know that if the gladiator fights took too long, lego bricks were scattered on the arena floor to encourage the gladiators to finish the battle..
If this set sells succesfully they should truly do a follow-up of it, same scale, of what it looked like in its prime...with gladiators in the arena and all

After the Romans declared christianity to their main religion, many churches had to use IIII instead of the correct IV, because IV were the initials of the now forbidden god Jupiter, the letter I stood for J and I aswell, and V stood for V and U. Sry for my langugage, i am from germany
People like to rag on lego for being so expensive but there's a reason for that. Yeah making the peices is easy but the engineering that goes into making a creation like this is what drives up the price. You can't just type "the coliseum" into a computer and have it print out the instructions for you from scratch. Someone had to take the time to figure out how to build the structure and make it sturdy while making sure to add as much detail as they possibly can. And at this scale its a lot of work. Which is why I don't really complain when I see big intricut sets like this being sold for hundreds of dollars.
Even though this is the first time that I see a video from this channel, I can apreciate one thing about it: *he's living the life that I would envy the most to have.*

@rick philly no definitely not, Ive used revit as my daily driver and can honestly say this would have taken me weeks to initially model the coliseum. Lego would have carried out their own surveys, and then split everything into pieces and the blueprints
Done by machine I guess. My son has the star wars lego advent calendar. Behind one of the doors, there was just an empty packet. Guess the robot missed that one.
This makes you appreciate the real building and workmanship that went into it. I reckon the Roman builders built that colloseum without any power tools faster than any modern construction companies of today 👍

@Tara Chew this isnt a lego city set nor star wars set. This is a lego set based on a world landmark. If it was a gladiator theme set then yes a minifigure would be appropriate but its not. If your going to argue that there should be a mini fig why not make it a pope mini fig? I mean he lives in Rome; just as much relatability to this LANDMARK themed set or an emporer fig? He would of been in the Colosseum? Or a tour guide themed fig? That would be the only appropriate fig tbh. Personally a minifig would just make the set tacky in my honest opinion.

What an amazing set and video. But most of all, what a beautiful piece of music. It might be a cool set to build. But thousands of human beings lost their lives in the most horrendous and terrifying ways in the Colosseum. The music is a nice tribute and feels poignant for this build

An impressive feat to be sure. I just know that with all those little pieces that go in to the sections I would have lost 38% of them by the time I built one.
That's exactly how it feels! Especially as it takes so long to get the big segments done! If I had to do it all over again I would wait and attach all of them at the same time, I bet it would feel amazing!

By quite a bit. The Falcon has about 5000 pieces, this set has over 9000
And its also 300 dollars cheaper than the falcon. This only cost 500, where the Falcon cost 900

With the packaging? There are numbered boxes inside with roman numbers and box four is labelled IIII instead of IV!

This is definitely a set I would want, even though I'm not a huge Lego builder and it's absolutely huge. I'm such a nerd about anything ancient Greek or Roman, and this would be so cool
Looks cool but I don’t like repetitive builds so this is not for me. Nice video though.
