    "I want to be comfortable having my picture take" brought tears to my eyes. It's been a very long time since I've felt comfortable. My children stopped pressuring me into being in pictures.

      My mom died in 2019. She didn’t like taking pics either. Now, it’s all we have and I wish we “pressured” her more. Please take the steps to feel better becuz they will need those memories. ❤

    I love "I can say these things are not wanted" : ) To hear an educated woman around our age talk about food and menopause is welcome when so many 20-somethings might talk about fasting etc, it's not the same. I have really enjoyed your program so far and lost 8lbs since 9/14/21. I feel better and my stomach has less issues. One day at a time!

    Counting calories, exercising every day, and not having alcohol, not smoking or having any type of vice has kept me healthy and my stomach is flat. I am 51 years old. I don't like that many videos, articles, podcasts, etc make it seem like,''You're menopausal, you will have a large belly and there is nothing you can do about it''. I know I cannot eat as much as I ate in my teens and twenties and I can't skip the gym. That's basically it. I am not perfect, but I am healthy and fit. I hope not every woman who is menopausal feels that they are just going to HAVE to accept having a large fupa. I love knowing that there is something we can do to stay fit.

    Thank you, Dr. Becky. This is the exact information I needed to hear. Very motivating. As someone in the 55+ age group, I needed guidance on where to start and this video is perfect! It's been really difficult getting back on track with world events the way they are. I just wanted to give up and figured what's the point anymore. But your calming and reassurance has helped me renew my desire to improve my health regardless of what Washington does. I believe the Lord will be pleased as well. Thank you for all you do.     I do the 16:8 intermittent fasting with Keto and it really works! I am 50yrs old and feel & look 35, or so I am told 😉

    Thank you for this video. I do intermittent fasting, Monday-Sunday on a 20/4 schedule and it's great!! I would also add ACV. I take a tablespoon in my water in the morning. Finally, employing a Keto lifestyle with IM has been life changing for me at 49 years of age during perimenopause! 🙌🏽

    Belly fat never goes away for me. Dinner at 7 and breakfast next day at 10- 11 am. My diet consists of eggs, fish, raw veggies, occasional beef. I drink lots of water. No sugar and low carbs haven't made a difference though this has been my habit for years. I weigh 107 but look chubby in the middle. Beyond frustrating. The only upside is I know my diet is healthy choices. I just hate how I look in clothes.

      Try standing pilates with dumbells just 10 minutes a day 5 days a week and be consistent. Choose the ones that concentrate on your core. You'll find them all on RUclips. A little goes a long way. Thank me later!

      I have heard from a nutritionist that eating raw cruciferous and certain veg increases bloating. Hence, a cooked version of these veg is a better option

    I have tried IF, calorie deficit etc etc… none of that works for me.

    I follow an 18:6 IF regime along with a whole food plant-based diet and aim to walk 20,000 steps a day over the course of the day not all in one shot. A few additional tips that have worked for me, is to start your day with warm water and ACV, I try and get 4 cups in right from the get-go, sipping from a measuring cup makes it easy and fun. I workout in a fasted state usually walking sometimes Zumba sometimes both. I aim to get between 12K and 20K steps daily spread out over the course of the day. For me, increasing the walking time has been the missing piece in attacking belly fat and keeping it off. I've lost 6 inches of body fat since May and kept it off, with very few food restrictions. I enjoy whole wheat pasta, brown and wild rice, oatmeal, potatoes, legumes, all veggies in fact, starchy and non-starchy, air-popped popcorn for snacks, I've switched my bread to pumpernickel which has a low GI index, cut out all processed foods and the weight just keeps falling off with no cravings. It's been an effortless transition one I highly recommend.

      I am also WFPB and feel great however I am heavier around the middle than ever.

    I eat a whole food plant based diet but i started it 25 years before i hit menopause so i never had a problem with weight gain. Its just hard to gain when you have a high carb low fat low protein diet of whole grains, legumes, veggies, and fruit.

    This was very helpful. I wish you’d address the issue of hypoglycemia. I cannot go too long in the morning without eating because I get very lightheaded since my sugar drops. In my research, no one has addressed this. Thank you.

      I can actually answer this- the light-headedness is likely from loss of electrolytes. Dissolve some unprocessed salt like pink himalayan in water and you'll feel better within minutes.

      Fasting works for some people, but for others it doesn’t. Fasting could actually increase cortisol (stress hormone) and cause and rapid sugar spike and then crash, leading to lightheadedness.

      I suffered with hypoglycemia for years. I finally went on a low carb diet. It has helped immensely. When I intermittent fast, I no longer get shaky or dizzy.

    Dr Becky, I do 14/10 intermittent fasting daily, rarely eat carbs and I focus mainly on eating vegetables and protein, no sauces, no butter, I've cut way back on wine and alcohol, I work-out 4-5 days a week, I walk 2-3 miles a day and I still look like I'm pregnant at almost 60! I'm so frustrated! I asked my OBGYN & my primary care physician and they both just said do what you're doing. My health is spectacular otherwise! What can I do? Where can I go for real help?

      Justine, have you tried berberine? It really helps with blood sugar and insulin resistance. Research it and ask your doctor. People report huge cholesterol benefits.

    In my mid-40s, my middle just thickened and thickened, until menopause at 50. I didn’t gain any weight, it just happened, my already-skinny legs and hips became thinner, too. I went from a waist 10” smaller than my other measurements (bust/shoulders/hips all equal) to one only 5” smaller. When I lost a lot of weight because of illness, about five years later, my waist-to-hip ratio didn’t improve a bit, being narrow-framed, it’s still between 0.85 and 0.90. Doctors say to keep a healthy ratio, but how? Maybe you could answer this question, I’ve never been able to find an answer: does surgical removal of the excess abdominal fat benefit health? If yes, I might do it, but mot just for vanity. My lipid profile has always been terrible, despite my best efforts, I just can’t make much HDL.       As you transition to menopause, your estrogen levels drop, which causes your body to store more bellyfat. Bellyfat is the dangerous type of fat since it’s around your organs.
      You could definitely lose it without needing surgery. Have you checked your hormone levels to see where they’re at?

    this will work well for some but not for me. I am a non diabetic hypoglycemic. I have to eat 3 normal meals and 3 snacks. I eat high protein low carb and lots of veggies and 1 fruit. this helps keep my blood sugar at a normal level.

    I am post menopausal and in my 70 s. It is so hard for me to lose anything and i have quite the belly. I hate it so. The keto diet and intermitten fasting helps reduce the bloating a bit, but the pounds are not dropping much. It makes me feel old and saggy.😢

      I don’t think any diet or any exercise will get rid of the belly fat during menopause. I have lost 2 1/2 stone but my belly fat is still growing and not I am not pregnant. So I do not believe eating healthy or exercising will make any difference.

    Ive been paleo/keto for years! I haven’t 😅eaten carbs in years & still can’t lose belly fat. I’ll occasionally eat blue berries or broccoli but mostly eat quality protein: salmon, grass fed beef, and eggs from home raised chicken. I’ve done intermittent fasting-but not for 12 weeks. I usually do a week on a week off.
    I tried a veggie only diet about 5 years ago & I did lose weight but also muscle….not ideal. Im trying more resistance training
    I’ll try it for 12 weeks-but starting it slightly discouraged

    I have 25% body fat and it’s all in my muffin tops & below belly button. It’s been two years and I’ve had it. I’ll do whatever I need to do. Since I am already extremely low carb which is salad & steak or zucchini & steak for example already…I’ll just quit eating. I look like I drink a case of beer daily. Was smaller when I was 6 mos pregnant.

    Why is it always thin people and doctors who say that you can lose belly fat. But you were never fat so I would like to hear it from people who were really fat and lost weight during menopause.       For some of us it is very slow to come off. I've been doing IF for 5 months and have only lost 16 lbs. The first 2 weeks I lost nothing and was very discouraged. I record my loss on a calendar and I've only had 1 week that I lost 2 lbs. The other weeks are like 1,0,1, 1/2,0....Also measure yourself, I lost 4" in my waist and 3 in my hips.

    Not sure where you got that graph on insulin spikes, but eating fat does not cause any insulin to be released. Also, eating protein without carbs has minimal effect on insulin.

    What do vegan/vegetarians do? I tried to eat meat as described (salmon, fish, deer meat). With salads etc...and ended up gaining 20 lbs. I feel better vegan ( yes, I take B12 etc).. is there any hope for us? What would a dinner/breakfast look like for us?

    Hello Dr. Becky. I followed the low carb eating for a long time, six months to be exact, and with horrible issues of relieving myself. I increased my fiber to 30-35 grams slowly and drank upward of 108 oz. of water, and increased my sodium. Although the fat loss was occurring, the restroom issues were unbearable and I had to stop. I don't know what else to do that's a healthy and natural way to resolve this issue.

      I was doing everything right, such as eating lots of fibre, drinking lots of water, eating well, and exercising daily, yet I was experiencing constipation. I started taking 300 mg of Magnesium Citrate each day. After about a week, I became regular again. It was clearly the missing piece that my body needed.

    I’ve been doing the intermittent fasting for over two weeks now. I got myself to the 14-16 hour to 8 level. I’ve struggled with a menu to follow that’s the right choice without eating the same foods. I lost a couple of pounds but I’m stuck on a weight that want budge. I am post menopausal. I’ve recently had a struggle with the symptoms of very low estrogen even after using natural compounded estrogen everyday. A miserable time. After three attempts my doctor has finally stopped the misery.
    My question is where can I get a menu print out to follow and perhaps recipes and why will my body fat and weight not budge?
    * I lost 15 lbs this past Spring by doing a combination of quick weight loss diets just to restart my body. Heavy intake of grapefruit caused me some digestive issues and therefore the weight returned from limited food choices.
    **I did the old fashion airline stewardess diet, military fad diet, and the mayo clinic grapefruit diet.
    I alternated them every 10 days. I lost between 15 and 17 pounds in about three months. I was on a good level eating well afterwards and then got digestive issues from the grapefruit. I love grapefruit but he doesn’t like me now.
