      They seem really great, but I've only played with the Z6III at home so far... so I don't have conclusive info yet. I'll be testing the camera extensively in different shooting environments in the coming weeks and will definitely be posting some videos about it

    Agree that those two universal l brackets are super helpful. But did receive the small rig l bracket for the z6iii yesterday, fits great. Has a qd-socket as well, and the vertical component is removable. First one I've seen specific to this camera.

      Nice. Sounds like a good bracket as well

      SteveCarter below complains of it not working for Z6iii--blocking some accessory ports and strap loops----is that so? I'd like to order the SmallRig

  • @ElGrecoDaGeek
    @ElGrecoDaGeek 6 месяцев назад

    You should consider the SmallRig L-bracket given it fits the entire bottom of the camera which gives an extended grip and more balanced fit as well as a cut out for the screen on the portrait orientation.

    Unfortunately the Smallrig bracket for Nikon Z6/7 doesn't' work on the Z6iii. Not only does it foul the strap hook but, more importantly it blocks access to the accessory slots meaning you can't attach a shutter release which is very frustrating. I have been in touch with Smallrig but, as yet, they have no plans to produce a new, dedicated bracket. So, thanks for these two suggestions.

      Is this still true? Their website (eBay) shows they DO have a dedicated Z6iii version, and other people below report no problems

    I got it last Friday, but I am looking for a rotating ring more than an L-bracket because I shoot a lot with a tracker and shutter release, and I with the L bracket is hard to have connections and attach to the camera ☹️

      @ZJMichaels  6 месяцев назад

      I’ve never used one of those rings before, but I’d like to at some point

    3 Legged Things has a small universal L plate that works okay on the Z6iii. I will be using that for the next six weeks or so, which is how long Kirkphoto reports it will be before they have a dedicated L plate.

      Thanks for sharing another option. How you liking your Z6III so far?

      @@ZJMichaels I’ve had three separate swim teams to photograph and process this week, so I have barely used the Z6iii. It seems like it will be a good fit, but it won’t replace my Z9 and probably won’t replace the Z8. I am hoping for a break in the weather and to get some astrophotography in this week.

      I’m also looking to shoot some astro once I get some clear skies… looking good for that later this week. I’m going to compare with the Z6II. I doubt there will be much difference at all but still want to test

    I dont have a Z6III yet, and it will be some time before i can get one. However, i found a great low-cost, low-profile, adjustable L-bracket that should fit just about any mirrorless, and it likely doesn't interfere in any way with the flippy screen.
    Fanaue CQL-01. The portrait orientation end is only about 1/2 inch, so it doesn't extend all the way up the side. As such, you can't center the camera in portrait orientation on top of the head, but you can situate it so that the cables aren't snagging on the head either.
    Not perfect, but a reasonable solution until a custom-fit option is available.

    I'm sorry to bother but i have a question. Did you have to do anything to your computer in order for lightroom to open up the raw files on the Z6 III?

    • @ZJMichaels
      @ZJMichaels  6 месяцев назад

      I'm able to open up the RAW files without issue. I think there was a creative cloud update a few days ago... maybe that has something to do with it?

      I haven’t used Smallrig brackets before. Do they make a universal one or one that would fit the Z6III?

      @@ZJMichaels They make custom brackets that fit EACH camera. I've used them since I bought one for my Z6iii.

      @@ZJMichaels and to add to my last comment, they brackets are high quality and 1/2-1/3 the price. The fact that they fit the contours of the grip and allows battery access makes it a no-brainer.
