    I love how fresh my X-T2 still is to me. I got it last year. I’ve fallen in love with Fujifilm one lens at a time after years of Nikon ownership. I might upgrade to a X-T4 for the ibis when the next gen camera comes out and the XT-4 gets even cheaper, I only do video 25% of the time. Thanks for your thoughtfulness in your videos.

    The xt4 AF is not bad. I shoot Fuji professionally and I'm the photog for our semi-pro soccer team. Setting the custom AF and using the 50-140 2.8, my hit rate is 90%. I rarely have an issue and can't think of an important shot I've missed. Goals happen fast in soccer and I have no problem capturing them. I'm not saying it's as good as the latest FF offerings but it's not an issue for photography.

    I sold my X-T3 to buy an X-H1, for the IBIS and grip (I have big hands). It's fantastic, and don't regret it at all, although the processor is marginally slower. I prefer the older sensor and the quiet shutter, and the weightier feel if the X-H1. BTW, I had zero issues with the X-T3 but wanted IBIS, and was pleasantly surprised by all these other details.

    The make or break feature for me on this camera was unlimited recording.
    I do long-format, multicam interviews and having to buy and carry 3 Ninjas and accessories just to be able to record for longer than 30 minutes was a nonstarter. External recorders are insanely expensive when the only feature you really need is the unlimited recording.
    I have a couple of X-T3s and an X-T2 (and a 5D Mark III) that I'll still probably be using ten years from now. From a photography standpoint, there's nothing I need to do that the 5D3 can't handle. The X-T3 is definitely peak camera for me unless/until something truly revolutionary comes out down the road.
    For video, the X-H2S will probably end up being peak camera for my needs and I'll still be using that in ten years, too. If the X-H2S didn't have unlimited recording, I was going to have to go with a set of used GH5 bodies for the long format stuff. Super glad I can just stay with Fuji for everything.

    Great comparison Take! I also primarily shoot an X-T4/X-H1 combo. Agreed - would never sell the H1. I dropped it on a paying gig, picked it up and kept shooting. That extra beefiness in body thickness really helps. And the ergos are indeed on point.

    I bought the X-H1 when it dropped to $999 for the camera + grip. I'd love to see a similar deal with the X-T4, when the X-H2 comes out. I also wouldn't mind picking up an X-E4, but it's a hard buy when the X-T3 is only $150 more.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 года назад +1

      I also hope to see a price drop on the X-T4, but since the X-H2S technically isn't directly competing with it, my guess is they won't drop the price until the X-T5 is announced, probably later this year. As for the X-T3 vs X-E4, the X-T3 is definitely the better value. However, if you want the smallest form factor X-mount camera, it's the X-E4. Personally, I'd just get the X-T3. I love that camera :-)

    This is a great video and very informative 👌📸 I have the xh1,xt4,xe3,xt20,xs10 and other gfx cameras and my favourite is my xh1 which I bought for 699.00 2 years after being released with the grip brand new and I love the whole design from the chunkyness of the body to the excellent silent shutter. I shoot all genres of photography and the speed of the xt4 is fast enough at 30 frames per second when I’m shooting bird’s in flight but the auto focus lags behind in tracking, and whilst the xt4 shoots at 30 frames per second it’s in crop electronic shutter at 16 megapixel shots and is that the same for the new XH2?? At 40 frames per second ?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 года назад +2

      X-H2S AF is definitely faster for burst shooting, especially with Subject Detect. Beacuse I have a pre-production copy, I can't really confirm how effective it is. As for crop, there is a slight crop (I think 1.27x) when in 40FPS mode. Once I get a production copy (I was told in a month) I will run a full test.

    When I first started shopping and decided on Fuji, I thought I'd be buying either an X-T2 or X-H1. I really liked the grip on the X-H1, but thought I'd only be able to afford something older. Then, the price drop on the X-T3 happened and I was lucky enough to find a used/basically new X-T3 with the 18-55, the Fuji grip(not battery), extra batteries, all like new in the boxes for a great price. So, I now have a really nice kit that has been a lot of fun to use. Really, the only thing I wish my X-T3 had would be IBIS. It would help with lower light, handheld situations. I had a few vintage lenses from the 70s/80s that I use sometimes. Just used the FD 50mm f1.8 recently to shoot some portraits of my daughter. I'm hoping that this next wave of new bodies and lenses brings some of the older f2 primes to the used market at lower prices that I can afford. I'd love that 33mm f1.4, but just too expensive for an amateur to justify! :-) Great video, have a great day!

      Thanks for sharing your journey. The X-T3 is a great camera, and hopefully the price of the X-T4 will drop once the 40MP X-H2 is released and the future X-T5, which is yet to be announced. Keep an eye on KEH for the best used prices :-)

    I traded my GAS-induced Nikon D750 for two X-T1's this year and couldn't be happier. Great images, old technology and they do everything I need. It's all about the lenses and I have the Fujicrons and looking at either the 14mm or 16mm 2.8 to get a bit wider than 23mm and maybe the Viltrox 85mm 1.8 as a longer portrait focal length than my 50mm. I'm finished caring about new features and latest/greatest. We all make more difference to our photos than our gear.

    Very well communicated! I’m curious about Fuji Cameras. Currently deeply rooted in the SONY Ecosystem. Use A7Siii and A7RIV. Hate Sony menus. Are there lens adapters for Sony emount lenses. I invested in an incredible amount of Sony glass. Will dump most likely A7RIV. Want to get into Astrophotographery, Landscaping Urban and birding. Some vlogging nice but I’ll use Siii. What would you recommend? 70% photos. Fuji look takes me back to the Pentax K1000 days. Looking for fun!

    8 min in but had to comment, I agree so much about the autofocus complaints
    People don't know how to autofocus the camera... using the oldest lenses in the line up the 35 F/1.4 and the 18 F/2 on my X-T3 the instantly focus.
    the only one of the original trio that does not instant autofocus is the 60 F2.4 and then only when you are moving from macro focus to infinite

    • @bigheadtaco

      I think people expect cameras to do everything for you, like it's a device and not a tool. A camera isn't a microwave. You do need to spend some time setting it up, and also there still is some skill involved in AF. I mean I still shoot with film and digital Leica rangefinders with manual focus, and I get pin sharp images 99% of the time. I don't think I'm a genius, I just understand how to focus. I know the Sony cameras perhaps has spoiled many, and they expect every camera to do everything for you. If that's the case, have fun shooting with Sony... but even then, you're going to have some missed shots. A computer isn't smarter than a human. Sometimes understanding the subject and how they move is smarter than an algorithm :-)

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 года назад +1

      I think every company has to come up with a business plan that gives the best balance. For instance, does the other retailer offer a 21 day refund or exchange policy? Do they offer 180 day warranty? There are costs attached to offering these types of services, which are built into the price. I always recommend people to look around and find the best deal for themselves, which also includes peace of mind with a good warranty and return policy.

    Still holding onto my X-H1 for now, I am really curious what the X-H2 (or XPro4, X-T5) will look like when they have their next summit in September. I am pretty impressed with the X-H2s, but that is a steep cost for a hobby photographer who doesn't do video. That new autofocus and speed does look great, but I think other models may make more sense as they start rolling out the rest with he new sensor and processors. I would like to see the 3 way tilt screen on some model. I know I can learn to use a vari-angle, but that is not my preferred screen.I just HOPE that Fuji will update my X-H1 firmware to support the XF 150-600 lens while I wait, as I have that lens on pre-order. :D I guess I could use my X-E4 as they likely will update that, and that would be pretty comical to put that camera on that lens.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 года назад +3

      I'm hoping both new lenses will have a firmware update for all X Mount lenses, that's only fair. I'm sure the 3-way tilt screen will still survive on some models. My big hope is the X-T5, I was never a fan of the fully articulating on the X-T series. It makes sense on the X-S10 and the current X-H2S if it's videocentric. But photo-centric, give me the 3-way for sure!!

    if possible since - time and again - camera bodies are just their bodies and usually for filming or even small run/gun doc work - we want to rig the camera up.
    Im lucky to recieve xt2 + h1 from a friend who moved to nikon. after some thinking and detoxing from the G.A.S. i realize that there's still room to rig out my H1 for more convenient/better shooting results - or even looking at Sigma lens zooms or even primes (not sure how they compare to Viltrox price to quality) that will certainly change the look of an image more than changing a camera body.
    the anamorphic lens is also very very cool as well to own that will change the look of the image more than a new body.
    love the IDEA of the 18-120 but also dont see myself using the zoom feature - rather would like to see how other people would use it to get shots that they might be able to with other lens. (a good thing for me knowing i dont need it)
    I keep hearing that XT4 has a duo native ISO and the 2nd one is at around 2000 ISO- and wonder if the H2 have a similar duo native ISO as well?
    (if i could do a switch - maybe XT4 (main video + vlog) + X100V (main photo + cam B) would be my preferred set up to transition camera bodies)

    My thinking is along the lines of snapping up an X-H1 when I'd imagine there is heavy offloading after the 40MP X-H2 is released. I've always liked its ergos and I think the Ibis feature would benefit the use of my adapted Nikon Ai/Ais and Minolta Rokkor lens collections, as well as my native Fuji glass. Acquiring a previous flagship model for around 500 pounds in my money seems a worthwhile deal as a keen hobbyist as the latest models are way beyond my needs feature and capability wise.

There is the bit of me that wants the X-Pro3 for the film simulations, and for the better AF… but also, now, I do wonder what the X-Pro4 is going to look like, and maybe if that has the AF system of the X-H2/s… I do like the idea of improved speed, trying to get photos of my children…

    Thanks for this video, I am a huge fan of Fuji X-H1 also and am using it along with the X-E3 instead of X-Pro2. For me doing mainly stills, Fuji X-H1 along with the 10-24, 16-80 & 70-300 is great gear and together with the X-E3 and the f2 primes it all fits in one bagpack. However, I wonder if Fuji will still provide firmware support in the future for X-Trans III cameras to be used with their new lenses such as the 18-120mm PZ which will be nice for video and also the 150-600mm lens. They did provide a firmware update for the X-H1 though to support IBIS and OIS working together when the 70-300mm came out, so lets hope for the best... Thanks again, Bernd

    My XH-1 has been great for many years. The XH-1 does not do auto focus as well (face detect, eye detect) as my XPro3 and the XH2s auto focus improvements seem like a great boon. On the subject detection modes, do you have to pick only one at a time, such as "Birds" and it only looks for birds and then if you want to use subject detection for flowers, you have to switch to "Flowers"? Or can it detect all possible subjects available at any time? Would be preferable if it could do them all or selected ones at the same time. I believe iPhones look for multiple subject types at all times (Pets, people, flowers, etc.)

      I suspect it will. I have the battery grip for the X-T2 and the one for the X-T3 and they each work as battery chargers without being connected to the camera. Can't imagine why they would take that functionality away.

    The af on the xh2S looks best in class, that would be reason enough for the extra investment over the XT4

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 года назад

      We’ll find out soon enough once we get production copies, but so far the X-H2S is out shooting the X-T4 in terms of AF speed and accuracy. Having subject tracking is also great.

    Nice video, but I think you missed out the X-S10 which is already the "little brother" of the X-H2. It has a similar design with the PASM dial, the grip and IBIS but it has an additional dial on the left which I use for the ISO setting. Apart from that is has nearly the same specs and sensor as the X-T4 but you can buy 2,5 X-S10's for one X-H2....

      @bigheadtaco  2 года назад +1

      100% the X-S10 is a great little brother option to the X-T4, but I totally forgot to mention it!! At the same time, I don't think anyone is selling their X-S10, so it would be difficult to buy used. I mean, this is a good sign right?

    how is the weather sealing of the xt vs xh? Is there any difference? And about weather sealing compared to olympus omd em-1 series?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 года назад +1

      I don’t know the difference between weather-sealing between brands. The only way we can compare is by looking at the specs, how many seals, how low temp can the cameras handle, etc. However, over time, all seals degrade. It would be good to see if anyone has done long term weather sealing comparison tests

    For me the deciding factor between xt4 and xh2s would be the difference in autofocus.

      The X-H2S is definitely faster and more accurate than the X-T4, even with pre-production software. It's only going to get better. Saying that, the X-T4 AF is fast enough for me.

      I had started with street and portrait with fujifilm and have transitioned to wildlife, especially birding. Any thoughts for wildlife/ birding with Fujifilm X-H2S? But thanks for the above view. 😊

    what lens on the xpro 3?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 года назад +1

      It's a Pergear 25mm f/1.8 manual focus lens. it's a great, cheap, fun lens to shoot with.

    Great camera but my X T4 will do just fine. The X H2 won't take better pictures and 4K 60 as well as 4k 1080 is good enough for me. Superb specs though. Impressive stuff but most of my work involves photography.

    Good video, I like the thumbgrip on the Xpro 3, where can one buy it? I agree with your review, I have the xt3, Xpro2&3, and travel extensively , I also shoot Nikon D850, but that camera is mostly left at home, because the Fuji's is just a lot smaller, and does the job anyhow

    • @Obiwill7

      I believe it’s a squarehood thumb grip.

      Thanks, the brass thumb grip is from Squarehood, and it works great with the X-Pro3. Between the X-Pro2 and X-Pro3, which do you enjoy shooting with?

    Same processor does not mean same image quality. X-A5 and X-T100 has the same processor but image quality is different. Dynamic rage on X-T100 is very poor

  • @jan-martinulvag1953
    @jan-martinulvag1953 2 года назад

    X-H1 is kind of blurry. The image. If you photograph paintings you will notice. Mushy. X-T100 is oversharp in camera and makes those worms, so what do one do? Xf10 is oversharp too, in camera. I put sharpness on minus 2 and sharpen with windows 10.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 года назад

      The X-H1 shares the same sensor and processor as the X-Pro2, X-T2, X-T20, X-E3, and X100F. If the image is blurry, then you probably have something set incorrectly. If you want to have better image control, I recommend shooting RAW and you can control all factors of image output.

    Seems everyone out there doing videos does stills, street, or landscape. I'm a hobby birder. I have the money for an H2S, but find it hard to justify that cost for just a hobby. The H2 might be good enough with the new AF update, but I'm not sure about 40MP.
    Also, everyone doing reviews is a guy. Is the H1/H2/H2S too big and bulky for a wimpy girl? I held the S10 last night, and it was so small, I think it would be hard to hold for any length of time, esp. with a larger lens.
