Thank you, as always. You're are a fantastic teacher and an inspiration. I tell everyone, whenever a guitar conversation arises, about how awesome your channel is and that if they use it they should go to Patreon and shell out a few duckets. Please sir, keep up the fantastic work your doing.
I bought a used classical guitar just for this tuning. Thanks so much ... going to work on Sultans, one of my favorite songs that I thought would be out of reach for years.
I was getting really frustrated with my guitar playing because I kept learning new stuff but it was never the sound I wanted. Within a few minutes of playing with this tuning and I feel like Ive just improved 10 fold. Its hard to explain but its just easier to noodle around and sound really really good with this tuning so try it now! Thanks bro keep em coming!
I discovered open Dm a while ago, that's an amazing tuning and I suggest you to go and check some of Skip James's songs, he used it a lot. Hard Time Killing Floor Blues is an absolute masterpiece and it's in open Dm.
Sorry. I repeated your comment before I saw you had posted..Great player. Cypress Grove..Back in the 1960,s, before S Grossman and all the tutors we now have, it took me ages to work out what tuning SJ was using. Repeated listening to old scratchy records was how I & many others learnt back then. Same with most other country bluesmen.
Interesting tuning. I never heard of this tuning before, but it sounds great. What did you mean when u said: "I consider Drop D a better tuning than the standard tuning cause D is the natural scale for the guitar" ? Can u make a video and elaborate on that?
you prolly dont care but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the latest movies and series on Instaflixxer. Been watching with my brother recently xD
Picked up guitar 7 months ago. I decided to learn slide guitar instead of standard tuning. Ive been in open d and open dm. This is great. Will u show how to implement a slide? Ive been pretty much doing my own thing. My guitar teacher frusterated with me because i dont want to learn “traditional” guitar. Lame. I figure im 38 just now starting guitar might as well play it how i want to play it. Been watching ur videos 1st day i started and its great encouragement to hear somebody or ur caliber endorse open tunings.
Been playing for almost a year now. Skipped standard tuning went through the entire 13 open tunings busted bunch strings tuning. I landed on open d and my favorite open d minor. So great. However..... i picked up a slide and havnt looked back. Can you please show some bad ass finger picking patterns for this tuning. Ive never once used a pick. Ive watched ALOT of ur videos and u are by far the best. Ur great. Thanks alot for all u do!! Show some slide work too would ya? Standard is not my thing!!
You’re right, Standard tuning forces you to play fixed things, but so does any tuning, including Em. Standard tuning is limited of course, but gives you more options, which is why it was developed
Is the little dog chained to the sofa? It didn't seem to like the interruption to its sleep. J/K I am actually persuaded to try your suggestion. At least for farting around.
Harmonics/intonation are simply a reflection of the quality of the guitar ur playing. The tuning ur presenting is kinda a downer. Would u and could u play a progression that’s upbeat, inspiring and drivin from the core of ur being, everything god giving senses that pore out ur soul in this tuning? Go on, give us ur heart from this tuning since u posted it. From James Pass-No Relation.
Exactly what I was looking (listening) for! Thanks for your efforts.

I stopped playing guitar for a while, but this video inspired me to pick it up again :)
Same here. I picked up new strings for both of my guitars 🎸 today.
As I was playing around I thought of this tuning. 👍

I really agree with the purpose of the video. You really feel free and you express so much more things with these kinds of tunings

Tuned**
Great lesson! Awesome sounds.
I learn to play Greg Joy - Ancient Sojourn at this exact Open Tuning)) What a match!)) Thank you very much!)
Just Imagine how flamenco sounding music will be with this tuning 🤯

@Caden Desmond Definitely, I've been using InstaFlixxer for years myself =)
Awesome ! I nerver heard about this one, I can't wait to try those harmonics getting home ! Take care.
Listen to the late blues player Skip James. He knew & used this tuning extensively. eg: Cypress Grove, Devil got my woman, Hard time killing floor.
Fantastic! This lesson was just what I needed :)

I wish you could show diagram of the actual pentatonic scale or does everything work at 3. 5 and seven
Dude, I agree. Most awesomest tuning. Ever. Been in standard for a year or so. Left two vids. Just now. Go have a listen. D minor tuned!
Man, you are just awesome!
Thank you for another useful and intersting video
Your channel is brilliant

was this the Dolly Pardon tuning? she may have used open D major with the G to F#....cool lesson!

I wish you luck, your a good teacher and a good guy.
That sounds awesome! I used that tuning once on slide guitar to play Wayfaring Stranger and The Parting Glass. Sounds really spooky almost 😁
Why not tune A up to B and D up to E to create an open Em? Lots less string manip needed. Just asking...
Is this the tuning Hiss Golden Messenger uses?
Brilliant info, very appreciated. You've given me a new voice. Many thanks, bro.
love your channel
Could you tell me the name of that guitar please ?
Thank you nvery much for all your content!
I'm hooked. Can you do a couple of detailed examples, Sultans of Swing looks a good candidate, or Sacrifice (Elton John)?
Do few more lesson about this please 🙏❤️
Can you do Married Life from Up please, that would be very epic
I would love that
yess
thats great, thank you
Great ideas thanks!
How to actually get the guitar into this tuning
Thank you , any chance of a proper strum lesson on sultans of swing in this tuning??
It may start from Dm, but there are a lot of major chords, so the question is interesting.
Ready to learn, captain!
Can u show more ideas on open dm? Im kina run into a wall
Sir, would you please make a complete lesson on DEAR GOD( I found only intro part taught by you) - avenged sevenfold.
I discovered this tuning on my own 5 years ago, come to find out it's used in the song big yellow taxi
Pls make a video on how to play like Estas Tonne
Agree!!
It's looping and effects/delay peddles is where the godness comes from
brilliant!
It is similar to my fav guitar song called Hana in 'DADF#AD'
Wow! Thx!
Now you'll need to reup all your videos in that tuning ;)
Nice man
More open d minor please sir
great stuff...when DAD becomes a FAD

Perhaps you can start a movement by teaching all your lessons this way. I plan to solo play so I don’t need standard tuning.
This kinda has the same tuning as Radiohead's "Optimistic" except there's open G and not F
Please do Peggy lee - Johnny Guitar. Keep them vids coming :)
Can you please do Im a sucker for you by jonas brothers ?
Save the time, it's open Dm, D,A,D,F,A,D, big whoop
That tuning is meant to “wow” someone
Im using a slide
Sounds like Mr Crowley
Skip James comes to mind...
Agree, this sounds more natural.
My Dad is fat 😎
ok
DADADE is Still the Best Tuning Available.
Why don't play with classical guitar in your videos? you don't have one?
stick to standard tuning
No imagination then?
