Pure class lots and lots of feel and soul a real muso , and you can hear in his playing a lot of milage... I salute you sir as a fellow slide player from down under ..
I recently bought part 1 of this course on Homespun. It has several songs on it including Swamp Dog Blues and Jan’s Song. Very good for anyone wanting to learn some of Mike Dowling’s tunes. Both DVDs are available and surprisingly well priced.
Met Mike @ Montana Fiddle Camp years ago. Gifted musician and teacher. And an absolutely hilarious guy. Meeting him /learning from him was a genuine joy!
Been looking up all versions of this song on RUclips. First I've heard done on slide guitar is it's the perfect instrument for this song. Thank yu SO much. Your voice is wonderful as well.
Oh man - this is something I was missing, and I hardly touch the acoustic these days - you gave me some great spirit to take the aoustic up again, tune it open D-min and try these inspirational slides. Can't thank you enough! keep up the music and spirit, cheers!
Ya man thanks, trying to sing folky stuff is hard as hell. I grew with pick in hand and is hard enough to claw pick let alone sing. But this is right up my alley, had it down in 20 min. Thanks brotha

Nice and sweet echoes from Skip James and Kelly Joe Phelps: open Dm is magic... And... the unalterable sound of the National Triplate, with a bucket full of harmonics. Few few notes, but only the good ones; congrats.
i thought sonny landreth had invented the technique of strumming behind the slide, but it wouldn't be surprising to learn that it's been around forever.
Oh my. This is it. 🫠🤌
Dang, this is so simple, but it sounds hauntingly AWESOME.
It seems easy enough that just maybe I learn to play a little bit of slide this way...
