I'm surprised how close the 2024 pole was to the 2019 considering these cars are way bigger and around a track like Monaco you'd think a more nimble car would be way superior
Just shows how much these generations of cars have improved while will need another full year to reach its full potential speed(as in the lap times) it’s incredible how far these cars have come in a two year period
Even at the end of next year they won't have reached their absolute true potential because no car will ever do that, but they already are very close to that I would say. Red Bull already said that the gains they are making are minimal now.
Let’s enjoy the fact that the cars are now back to pre 2022 cornering speeds before they’re back to 2014 cornering speeds in 2026 with the silly rule changes meant to make them slow af.
you should make comparison with the fastest monaco qualifying too, in 2019 lewis was 1:10:166 in W10, i wonder will 2025 car ever beat that record (edited : yes he made the video eventually, here ruclips.net/video/mAF5rHQ44cs/видео.htmlsi=YS3zSBB9rpnVbOrI)
I think the 2025 pole lap could be a 1:09, also considering that Charles' lap wasn't perfect; but for sure the record would have already been broken if we would have raced here in 2020😉.
It really shows how development time matters A LOT. If a team gets it right earlier and can develop the car in the right direction, it makes a massive difference and allows them to dominate.
That's the information I am looking for. There was no way that 2024 cars would be over a second faster than 2023 cars when they are only a few tenths faster on the other tracks if even at all. I already guessed that it had something to be with the track, but I didn't know what. Resurfacing is a big deal obviously. I guess the W11 would be a low/mid 1:08 then.
The point is, last generation lap record was 1:10.166 in 2019 by Lewis Hamilton, this is astonishing as cars with different construction and weight are so close to eachother.
I would say Leclerc systematically never fully lifts the throttle to have maximun minimum speed (not only Monaco) whereas Max constantly allows this "dead time" since he's a master to make the car rotate making it pays off at the exit.
Congratulations, team & thanks to every single person who made this possible! ❤ It's great to see both of our guys on the podium at Monaco & finally a home victory for Charles! 🏆 And now just 25 points back from Red Bull... constructors championship is on! 💪 Forza C² ❤❤💪🏽💪🏽 💚🤍❤ Forza Ferrari! 💚🤍❤
Probably, but RedBull has been running quite stiffly in this regulation set. It's a compromise of their suspension design. It works out for the majority of the tracks in the calendar, but they suffer a bit on a handful of tracks.
Oddly, after the slow start, 2023 is suddenly ahead into the Loews hairpin. Goes wide, low on the throttle, and heaps of time is lots. Did Max brake too late into Loews simply 2023? EDIT: oooh you did weird syncing so we can't look at that, they are together at the line with a second between them...
The way Leclerc held his steering wheel at the hairpin made a notable difference, getting rid of the physical limitation of human arms and giving even more lock to the steering, resulting in a tighter exit. F1 drivers are the least appreciated drivers on this world. Their skillset is insane, hardly anyone could match most of them.
I remember 2023 pole lap by Max being right on the edge. Max hit the wall 2 times to beat Alonso's crazy lap. 2024 was a second faster without it looking on the edge.
Yes , i got the same feeling when i watched the 2019 cars against 2020 cars , its like Other categorie. Maybe n'est year these cars will reach another level of downforce and mechanicals grip
2024 Ferrari is in a different league compared with RB19 obviously. But Max was still around 0.15s faster than Charles though the T15-T16 chicane last year. Just shows how truly incredible that Pole lap was.
Not gonna lie but Monaco is a cringe track and shouldn't be in the F1 calendar. There will hardly be any racing and the whole track is just too small for F1, even for F2. This will be a procession

Why were the 2022 cars faster than 2023? They didn't have a chance to show it but they were. Was it down to better track conditions?
