While they were gone, someone broke into the 5th floor, removed a North Korean propaganda poster from the wall and placed the poster on the floor. It is unclear if the person was Otto, but since he was an American and he was at hotel at the time, North Korea didn’t really care if he did or didn’t do it. When his group was leaving, they kept him in North Korea while claiming that he was sick. After that, he was forced to admit to taking the poster down in hopes of overthrowing North Korean government. From this confession, he was charged with a 15 year sentence of imprisonment with hard labor. In April of 2017, North Korea sent Otto back to the US. He was in a coma from what North Korea claimed to be a food-borne botulism and usage of a sleeping pill. Otto would unfortunately never wake up from this coma and would pass away just a week after returning to the US.

I went in 2015 and stayed in this hotel. Was a great experience and would do it again. Was very educational and learned about a different reality of life and the fact that we take so many things for granted. I went by train from Beijing and flew back from Pyongyang.
Honestly the Yangakkdo is super fun. I got super drunk and sang Barbie Girl at the karaoke bar. The TV has BBC News and the local TV station if I remember correctly.

Yes...because you HAVE to stay there like you don't have a choice. Not like, you have to stay there because it's so amazing.
There are other hotels in pyongyang that other people stayed that and recorded it for example the koryo hotel

Death Valley has frost in winter, so when are you going ?

Imagine Kimmy got supervised when he got bathing lol and I am sure Kimchi or Kimmy or Dog Un will love being supervised
If you go to North Korea on vacation, you need help.
I do actually will you come with me?
That hotel is better than 98% of the north korean homes
It’s funny how he says in the beginning that u have to stay there but then says it’s the worst hotel 😅😂
You HAVE to. Its a requirement.
Poor Otto 😭
He did everything they told him not to do. But at the same time I agree with you
Yeah, when you steal propoganda posters off the wall of a hotel in North Korea what happens to you from then on is pretty much natural selection.

Imagine having to make all that food but can't eat it

Dude put vacation and North Korea in the same sentence like going to a communist country is a vacation 😂
I'm pretty sure the hotel still is a prison
😂the crazy thing is that the South Korean left claims KimJungUn is a wise and benevolent leader
Mate I went there in 2014, my room’s beds were small but ok, we have flat screen TV with BBC World News, local channels and Chinese channels, we were allowed to sit at the car park to drink beer until late. Next time double check again
Exactly mate! I went in 2015 and the comments section is full of complete ignorance. Totally contrary to what these people are assuming, it was an educational experience.
Moral of the Story: Don't go to North Korea for a vacation

I've been to North Korea, it really wasn't that bad. Follow the rules and you'll be fine. I was able to leave my hotel room whenever I wanted (not the hotel).
I don’t get why anyone would want to visit that place.
Feels like they’ll come up with any reason to throw your ass in jail
Make sure you grab a poster off the hotel wall before you leave.

North Korea has over 100k tourists annually. Most of them are chinese but a good chunk from allover the world.
N.k. Is literal hell on earth. Someone help those people
No one wants war
It simply isnt possible, 90 years of NK propaganda on their citizens is simply impossible to overwrite unless the whole country is evacuated and sent literally everywhere else to live among the world

@@unknownuser6757I wouldn't say no one. Honestly, if it was put to a vote in the US whether to go to war with North Korea or not, I'm not saying the vote would win, but it would be closer than you probably think. I'm guessing around 40% of the country would probably be for war

Going to north korea on vacatuon is an oxymoron
North Korea and Vacation are two ingredients to a nope sandwich
Ah yes, a bar, a pool, a casino, and 2 restaurants… thats why they call it a prison hotel, because those are things prisons have
The last clip of that white dude being escorted by the North Korean police officer was tortured practically to death because he thought it would be funny to take a poster of Kim off of one of the lobby walls and by the time he got back to his own country he ended up being declared brain-dead. No joke search it up if you don't believe me.

Oh and I just read his surname and he would go to jail for that alone in germany.
Old news
I went in 2015 and stayed in this hotel. Was a great experience and would do it again. Was very educational and learned about a different reality of life and the fact that we take so many things for granted.
I went by train from Beijing and flew back from Pyongyang.
Bro that hotel is straight out from a horror movie
Honestly the Yangakkdo is super fun. I got super drunk and sang Barbie Girl at the karaoke bar. The TV has BBC News and the local TV station if I remember correctly. Was kinda hilarious watching a BBC panel discussion on NK's nukes in a room overlooking the Taedong River. So quirky and weird, was honestly a great time.
