I get a grinding kind of pop sensation whenever I do leg raises either on the floor or hanging, it's when I lower the legs back down, it doesn't hurt but it's uncomfortable and worrying. Wish I knew how to get rid of it, the mechanics of how it happens pretty much slays two thirds of most abdominal work and throws it out the window as not being feasible for me. I also have a gap like you described and it's very hard to flatten it even when I lift my head and shoulders off the floor. My lower back hurts a lot during leg raises, always the descent.

Definitely work with a physical therapist / physio to get to the root of the issue. if you'd like to work with me (including telehealth), the booking site is happyandwell.janeapp.com
