Ashtown Crossing is actually going to be closed and replaced with a tunnel nearby, due to the higher frequency of trains.

@@irelandbloke A newsletter confirming the design was handed out to locals about 2 months ago, so maybe work will start this year? I believe all level crossings on the route to Maynooth are going to be closing because the line is going to be used 5x more when the Dart is extended.

Mindboggling! Does anyone have any insight into why a rail crossing has 36 million views? It's 12 years old and I imagine it's not linear but even at 3 million views a year, this is massive. It's interesting. But is it really that interesting? Respectfully to the owner of the channel, please. I'm just looking to learn here.

I really like the keeper's hut on the right side of the frame. He probably stays there. Even now I imagine myself staying by myself in such a cottage beside the railway line near a forest and opening and closing the gate when trains cross. Wishful thinking!!😟😄

The station master of the station that the train has just crossed or the gateman at the previous crossing calls up to say that the train is approaching. Nowadays most train drivers and guards have wireless sets with which they call up the gate man
