I’m sure not too many will notice or care, but I’d like to suggest the Ethernet data infrastructure is taking place of a previously CAN-based network, which is a more common and arguably legacy physical standard (for those informed, I’m a daily user of the more modern CANFD). The acronym LAN is often associated with Ethernet-based networks, and probably not the network McLaren moved from.
    Loved the review, though!

    • @gooddypm

As always, an awesome job Mr. JWW. I purchased the 2018 NSX you see pictured left for many reasons. One key reason was reliability. Two Canadian winters as a daily driver without a single issue....we're talking -30C and below with Pirelli Sottozero 3 tires......I had considered McLaren but no AWD....gotta have it in Canada if you want to play with your toy year round...and I do. The Artura is beautiful, but reliable? Only time will tell. So far McLaren has soiled it's name in this department. I hope for their sake, and their owners sake, they've picked up their game. I think this looks great! I've always liked Mclaren but from what I've read they're not very reliable. I did watch a STG video on the 720s and Sam said Mclaren is trying to fix those reliability issues so hopefully this new Artura actually is built better. Time will tell I guess. Great video!

It's amazing that McLaren is one of the first to ditch the ancient CAN and instead make use of ETH which is much faster and requires less wiring.

I’ll be honest I don’t really like the way it looks and that’s my opinion but I’ll definitely give credit that they’ve come along way and they are proving themselves very well in the market

    2 points:
    1) the Bluetooth Low Energy key thing is particularly interesting because your phone could serve as a key with a simple app
    2) I think you mean CAN when talking about the previous cars' electronics systems? It sounds like you're saying LAN, but that would just be "Local Area Network" which is a very general term that wouldn't particularly make sense in the context of a car. CAN is the "Controller Area Network" bus specification that ran pretty much every car's electronics for decades. Good to see McLaren making the switch to Automotive Ethernet though, there's no reason supercars at this level should be running on functionally outdated tech.

Acura and Chevy have proven it's not easy to design a mid-engine car that really stands out - I think this one proportionally looks brilliant and distinctive in the crowd. More aggressive and pleasing on the eye than the outgoing 570 - apart from the 600LT, always felt like the 570 was the "Boxster" Mclaren, which wasnt a great attribute at $200k+

It’s a good transition into the next era of car from McLaren without completely departing from the old design language so it’s still recognizable! I love everything about it, except I just can’t stand the screen just plastered on the dash, A LOT of manufacturers are doing this. Why not just integrate it into the dash completely? We can thank Mercedes for starting that trend when the CLA came out 😂

Oh my god, you never have any negatives on anything...
The "RUclipsr" movement was meant to be young up and coming people ready to be free from the pressure of manufacturers who will drive the cars, lot like ex racers, but as us the normal drivers and give you a real life review...
Now? It's all big smiles, amazement and really making sure you are still on the manufacturer's good side!
Shame really... I see Supercars of London as one of the few still doing "Lifestyle" videos with honest fun.
