      I think while it does look gorgeous the subpar IO is not worth it. No SD card slot in such a laptop is beyond tragic and the 2023 G14 is just as good looking while offering way more ports, a display that can lay flat (yes, it is important to some people and not completely useless) and more importantly it comes with an AMD chip that makes a lot more sense, in my opinion (I am open to debate). Great video as always, you helped me a lot with purchasing the right laptop for me, please keep up your amazing work, have a great day!

    I bought my black 2024 HP Omen Transcend 14 (16gb, 1 TB, Core Ultra 7 155H, 4060 8gb) in late March for $1,499 at Best Buy. I suspect the biggest reason this laptop is "hamstrung" with a low TDP is HP's decision to use a USB-c power adapter, limited to 140 watts. But I have found this laptop to be awesome for routine chart work with that OLED monitor. And when occasionally playing Helldivers 2 on it (at 1920x1200, High Quality settings using Reshade for upscaling and MartyMods RTGI Ray Tracing), I still get FPS in the upper 40s, but I swear it feels faster and smoother than that with no stuttering. At the price I paid, I am very happy with the purchase, even more so after nearly 2 months of ownership.

      @BluepineYT laptop vendors can control the power input to the gpu. So, what hp did was they reduced the power input to control the heat. Low power = lower performance than what it is capable of.
      I would say they balanced the power and temp. I would trade of that level of performance to keep from over heating. Because in laptops if temps go high it would be uncomfortable to use the keyboard. They might have done it in consideration.

    Have been using HP OMEN 14 for about 2 months now, and love it ✌ Got it from BestBuy with $300 Memorial Day discount or something. It was $1699 with pretty much top spec, Intel U9 185H and RTX4070. Asus G14 2024 has no discount during that time, only Asus G14 2023 has a great opened-box deal.
    Looks, I know people love comparing this laptop to Asus G14, but I just had Asus Flow Z13 die on me after less than 2 years (which is too fast and it's expensive!). I had Asus G14 2023 before too but it has bugs on the game I play, so I returned it.
    I just like HP OMEN transcend 14 more,
    I want to try something else and Intel Core Ultra.
    That's why I get this one.

      Not sure it needs a mux switch since Microsoft's CASO (Cross Adaptor Scan-Out, implemented in DirectX) negates the performance gains that a mux switch typically provides. Also, the HDMI port connects directly to the dedicated GPU and provides full performance to an external display. I have not missed the mux switch. (But it does not have an sd card reader, which may be a deal breaker for some.)

    A white keyboard combined with an OLED panel is just terrible. You can't see the backlight of the keyboard properly, nor can you properly see the dark shades on the display.

    • @MatthewMoniz
      @MatthewMoniz  5 месяцев назад

      That makes no sense because the entire display including bezels are black so it makes no difference. As for the keyboard ,its easy to see with the translucent borders that let the light shine through. In fact you're getting more light then a regular black keybaord that only shines the light through the letter.

    • @TingleCowboy
      @TingleCowboy 5 месяцев назад

      That's not right. It's always about contrast. I have a gaming laptop from HP myself, but it is completely black and also has keys with translucent edges. It also has an IPS panel with 144hz. Everything is clearly visible, even in dark areas. I never had the feeling that I had to increase the gamma value in a game so that I didn't miss important details. And it's not just the display that is in the field of view, but also parts of the keyboard. That's why it's particularly annoying in bright environments when the glaring white keyboard is next to the OLED panel with its very dark black tones. This is particularly clear at 3:47 in your video, for example. You have the feeling of looking into a dark hole. No, that simply doesn't convince me at all.
