In my experience, night driving is no problem for the comma, but I've found that the most challenging situation is in the late afternoon driving into the sun. The sun lights up the road and all the imperfections/cracks/fixes, and even I can barely see the lane lines. In this case it constantly tries to drive me into the car next to me.
Thanks for watching! I will see if my schedule allows me to hunt for the scenario you are referring to. In the past, I have found Openpilot to work surprisingly well in adverse conditions like that, but I do not know how Epilog SideCar would perform with its unique optical solution - my assumption is that the performance would be the same.
Your experience matches mine. The comma drives better at night. More contrast in the lane lines and other vehicles, less traffic etc. Sunrise and sunset cause me far more issues, especially with the driver monitoring front facing cam
Evening again. So Epilog plays follow the leader as well? A double-edged sword since the leading car made a last-minute exit turn. I will remember that tip about staying in middle lanes, of course. Hope that you've started saying farewell to your unit since you have to return that soon.
Hey Tony. It’s definitely a double edged sword, that can be solved with navigation data… but that also opens up new issues lol I’m currently talking with Epilog atm, and we’re figuring out the return details. ;)
@@bryan.deleon Only a matter of time before you own your own unit, I suppose. I *WAS* going to reference Drake's "I'm Upset" again, but even that gets played out. Since May the 4th is coming up, may the Force be with you. Feel free to celebrate.
no alarm even you are looking down for almost 15 seconds , a bit scary , what if you fall asleep? in fairness, it was driving within the lane while you are looking down . stay safe
Thank you! Luckily I dangerously crane my neck back, if I fall asleep sitting up. So at least the head posture will trigger the alarm, if eye gaze is not caught.
@@bryan.deleon Not changing from my Comma devices, as I already have them and love them. I actually like the screen in front of me. That said, I welcome worthy hardware competition for Comma. In the long run it's great for consumers.

Thanks for watching! You’re the second to comment on dusk/dawn drives. I’ll see if I can fit one in. The timing will be difficult lol
@@bryan.deleon just get a grow light and blast it from the back seat, basically same experience 😂
@@firestar4430 I don't have grow lights, since I live in California ;)

I have a rav4 (2021) on the fence between sidecar and comma 3. Which do you prefer and why?
SideCar.
Price.
Road visibility.
Stealth install to help deter theft.
Mechanically secure mounting.
True Automotive grade connectors.
Parity with Comma “chill-mode”.
K.I.S.S. Philosophy.
