  • *Please bear with me, this is my first time making a video like this, and GPS suction cup phone mounts can get shaky at times so I apologize in advance. We are learning together!*
    A quick how-to video on the Driving Assistance Professional Package on the 2024 7 Series and i7 featuring Active Driving Assistant Professional, Highway Assistant, Extended Traffic Jam Assistant, Automatic Lane Change, and Active Cruise Control with Stop+Go. This new version of the Driving Assistance Professional Package takes highway driving, comfort, and convenience to a whole new level and is available on vehicles featuring iDrive 8 and up (see vehicle eligibility on note #1)
    A few notes:
    1. Vehicles eligible for this version of the Driving Assistance Professional Package with Active Driving Assistant Professional+:Highway Assistant: X5 LCI*, X6 LCI*, X7 LCI*, i5, 5 Series, i7, 7 Series, iX, XM*.
    *Vehicles equipped with the highway assistant and the older generation steering wheel (X5, X6, X7, XM) require the driver to press the MODE button when the Assist plus Ready Script is displayed on the gauge cluster. Once activated, the system will act the exact same, the only difference being in how it is activated.
    *UPDATE: if your car features the older generation steering wheel (X5, X6, X7, XM), is equipped with the highway assistant, and has been updated to Software Version 11.2023.50, then you are able to activate the highway assistant and extended traffic jam assistant (Assist Plus) by taking your hands off the wheel.
    2. NOT ALL iDrive8, iDrive8.5, or iDrive9 vehicles come with Active Driving Assistant Pro+Highway assistant. Some vehicles with iDrive8 and all vehicles with iDrive7 available with Active Driving Assistant Pro come with only the extended traffic jam assistant but NOT the highway assistant (8 Series, X3, X4, 3 Series, 4 Series, X1, X2). See note #6.
    3. An Electronic Subscriber Agreement or ESA is required for use of the Highway Assistant.
    4. If your BMW is equipped with the Driving Assistant Professional Package, the steering wheel lighting elements on each spoke will illuminate green when steering intervention for the parking assistant professional is active.
    5. At the end of the day, if you are not comfortable with the system, you are able to take control of the car at any point by grabbing the steering wheel or by shutting the system off by pressing the brake or the button on the steering wheel.
    6. The Extended Traffic Jam Assistant only works at speeds of up to 40mph on clearly marked divided highways. The traffic jam assist is activated in the same manner as the highway assistant, dependent on the vehicle (see vehicle eligibility and caveats on note #1).
    7. With Active Driving Assistant Pro, it is VERY important that your eyes look forward while using the system as this is the vehicle's main way of knowing you are paying attention to the road. If it does not detect your eyes looking forward, the car will alert you to look forward or shut off the highway assistant, requiring you to put your hands back on the wheel. If worst comes to worst, the vehicle can come to a complete stop on the highway and call roadside assistance if needed (ie if you have suffered a medical emergency).
    Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope to see you soon at our store!

    Thanks for the video. I have a 530i with the driving assistance plus. Can I upgrade to the professional version? I can do everything but limited not hands free. Thanks for your answer. I heard that in the fall will be releasing an upgrade to buy on my garage. Any ideas? Thanks so much

      Congrats on the new i7 and great question! As of right now, there is no disclosed plan for it to work in the city.
      With that being said, BMW has started working on Level 3 Self Driving systems in Europe which will make its way to US soil at some point.

      @@GTBMW1 I hope you don't mind, I have a couple other questions. If you know the answers cool, if not, cool. When researching the feature of controlling the automatic doors with the key remote, I've read conflicting answers. I know if I have doors open I can close them by holding down the lock button on the remote. But will we ever be able to possibly open the drivers door with the remote ? I've seen the setting on my car that says the trunk button can be used to open ALL the doors at the same time, but i've never been able to get that to work. Could be a user error tho. ha. Lastly, do you know anything about whether or not either of the two charging adapters that are on the market will work with BMW at the tesla chargers yet?? I know bmw is working on their own adapter plug thing, but there are two on the open market - curious as to what you know about that sitch. Thanks for the help!

    • @GTBMW1
      @GTBMW1  Месяц назад

      @@justincipriani6102 Not at all!
      1. For the doors, you cannot open them from the key fob. You can open them from the app.
      2. They told us 2025 was going to start adapting the Tesla style charger… but no word on an update yet. There are adapters you can buy on Amazon for it.

    • @darylpitts390
      @darylpitts390 Месяц назад +1

      Yes, you remove your foot from the pedal once the speed is set. You can use a control on the wheel to adjust speed up and down. But you don't need to use your feet at all once this mode is engaged!

      This system is also available in the BMW 5/i5 and iX, which you can lease much more cheaply. You can get one in the $500/month range which is around the same cost as a Tesla Model 3.

      @@darylpitts390 My Tesla can drive me from AZ to CA with only two supercharging events, 20 mins and 30 mins each. But I literally don't have to drive at all. This includes turning it on when I leave my house, handling city streets, stop signs, red lights, on ramps to highways, highway interchanges, off ramps, then shutting it off when I get to the hotel. If you tell me your BMW can do that I'll try it out. Can it?

    • @gta-ks1mi

      @@georgem5589 Oh wow, your Tesla can do all that? Impressive! My BMW can't quite do the same, but it does have this amazing feature where it gives me a workout every time I drive. Between shifting gears, navigating traffic, and the occasional impromptu dance to stay awake, it’s like having a mobile gym session. Plus, when I get to my hotel, I have the satisfaction of knowing I earned every mile. But hey, if your Tesla ever needs a pep talk or a human touch, my BMW and I are always up for a road trip challenge!

      @@georgem5589 It's unlikely that BMW will license Tesla's self-driving software because they have invested millions in developing their own self-driving technology. Despite its limitations, BMW aims to release a fully functional self-driving car by the end of 2025.
