You sold me on the Fcx24s almost two years ago. I still think they are the best value rtr. I have, however, built a half dozen scx24 based excellent performing lcg trucks. Basically, all aftermarket parts in the builds. If you want to go and play around on the cheap, hands down Fcx24s. If you want a super crawler, check out Matts crawler videos and get ready to spend a little! 2FMRC, still the best!!
I have that Grey Jeep and I've notice the same thing that it doesn't feather well at crawling speed when controller is switched to the 50, but when its switched to 75 or 100 its crawls with great finesse and feathers nicely.
To be honest I own 2 SCX24s and each one had the worst steering servo and a flimsy steering linkage and had to change both out as the SCX24 wouldn't turn with any kind of load on it. Now once you upgrade the servo and flimsy steering linkage on the SCX24 they are great, but not before you do that. The FCX24s I own were all great out of the box, no power issues, no servo hesitation just fun to drive. The steering linkages were plastic but not as flimsy as the SCX24. To be fair I did upgrade the FCX24 to metal suspension links and steering link but they weren't necessary. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Axial, I love the SCX10 III CJ7 I have, the SCX24 V2 Gladiator and the SCX24 Power Wagon both had the same issues out of the box, however, they are good looking rigs.
Stock it isn’t a fair fight… the FCX24s are just straight up the way to go. For ground up builds SCX24 parts are still the better options simply because they are way more diverse.
I own both and yes I’ve had to replace every steering servo on scx24s. My FMS 24 I ended up after a little over a year had to replace them as well. My FMS rigs are definitely more of a real driving experience and with the slow crawl and the two speed they are funner to drive by far. I haven’t upgraded the electronic on the fcx yet just because it’s so expensive. But I do see if you plan on dumping 500 bucks on the fcx they are amazing! Hell I have probably spent 200 a piece just in tires wheels and suspension? They are all fun but love the looks of the FMS and those high speed motor change really made me love being able to drift in the kitchen yet go slow enough to crawl with ease. Someday I’ll upgrade the scx power and hopefully build a rock monster? Great stuff as always! If you ever get to Utah come teach me the electronic side because I am an idiot and don’t know what to buy. Keep up the great work

Yeah for me the scx24 has enough gearing options that I prefer to just go brushless and then the 2 speed isn’t really needed. It’ll do it all in one gear!
Great vid, thanks Matt. How's the drivetrain slop in the FCX24M, it doesn't look too bad compared to the older FCX24 which is promising! No Portals and new gearbox doing some good work.
You are killing it man, Another great video. I am working on my first long format proper RC video now, and man it is a lot of work to get it right. I have probably filmed it 8 times now and still not happy. lol
Main issue with the new scx24, including the power wagon, is the switch to Spectrum for the electronics. Immediately out of the box the slow speed control is terrible, and it wines the entire time its being used. And you can get the esc to basically cut out once in a while at fill stuff and trying to turn since its only a 10amp esc and receiver in one. Even throwing in a Injora 66 turn motor helps a little bit, but the electronics still suck. I have a fully upgraded scx 24 that used to have the horizon electronics in it, never heard the esc wine.

Not weird. I love crazy max performance rigs but I get my kicks from scale stuff. Most my micros are hardbodies except maybe 2-3 that are my designated performance trucks. Everything else is on the path of capable trail truck.
Nice comparison! Looks like an FMS is on my radar now. Quick question. Any suggestions on where to find the mini crawler setup table? It seems to be sold out everywhere.
Will the stock tires fit the batrazzi rims? Will the batrazzi rims bolt up with out any issues? That's the only thing I don't like is the yellow rims. Can't wait for my range rover to get here
I have seen a ton of videos for the new FMS this one was one of the best. How this new FCX24M compares to the rest of the FCX24 line? I want one for homemade indoor crawling and also for our small backyard. I bought 2 WPLs during the lockdown, thrown a tone of money on them and they remained horrible so I sold them. I was thinking to buy the FCX24 Monster truck that comes with open diffs and also in the box has spare locked diffs. The portal axles give advanatage over the straight axles of the M? I don't want to spend money on upgrades. Probably only heavier wheels and tires.
Really appreciate that. The fcx24 is definitely more capable than the 24m due to the portals and larger wheels etc. These trail really well but aren’t as capable. Tons of fun but not all out performers. You could go with larger tires but they don’t really fit the body well so I stayed tiny tires with mine lol
It went pretty much how I thought it would. When you buy a SCX you can expect to replace all the electronics even if not right away it will happen so let’s say you put in a Furitek System in the SCX & nothing more would it then out perform the FMS seems like yes. And the class of mini crawlers is now has 2 classes LCG & trail just like 1:10. At first every mini was a trail rig as these are & there’s no way your making this FMS into a LCG rig but the SCX you could probably get it close even with that body. I’ve only had one SCX I’m not a fan of any of the stock ones. But in completely custom LCG form they are amazing. So do you want a trail rig or LCG is what you should be asking yourself. I don’t know of many that would buy a SCX stock with bodies like this & try & make it a LCG things have gotten so good part wise what you would do is buy everything aftermarket frame rails trans mount skid etc. & make your own custom SCX 24 LCG which to me seems deceiving because there isn’t one part that is a stock Traxxas part so how can it be a SCC24? And if you buy a RTR you would maybe use the trans skid but not much of anything else because you’d probably be getting new metal axles etc. all the other parts would be in a pile. So then you would have a Stock RTR with only the trans & skid left. Bottom line don’t dump a bunch of $ on aftermarket stuff on a RTR like the JLU you want a LCG start from scratch. For me either trail or LCG I prefer 1:18 scale like the M or Evo Pro for LCG.
I have a new gray Wrangler. I put the V2 ESC/receiver in it. (The blue one.) It's a big improvement if you're not looking to go crazy with radio and motor mods. I also have the older Gladiator with the V2 stuff in it, and it's so smooth for RTR electronics. As soon as I put the V2 stuff in the Wrangler, I got that smooth experience. I like it.

@@Jb-Raja lots of aftermarket stuff for the scx. You can basically make it into anything. Not much for the 24m yet but it’s great out of the box. I would say if you really like to mod and completely change your trucks up later then go scx24. If you mostly want a good looking, solid truck out of the box and plan to do just a few simple mods the 24m is great.
Let's be honest the only good thing about the scx24 is it's transmission the rest is junk. I had three of them they all found their way to the trash. If you want one buy a transmission and go from there lol
So in other words the FCX24 is better, as much as this might hurt the SCX fans. It was clear this would happen a while ago when FMS released their first FCX24 the Power Wagon. And there's sooo many aftermarket parts for it now too!
Scale doesn't mean a lot to me, but one thing that's super important for me at least, is parts support. The Axial has it in spades and it let me build my Bronco exactly how I wanted. I know that FMS is getting it now which makes them more attractive. I have several FMS and Axial vehicles and would probably go so far as to say the FMS line is probably a more for your money type of vehicle. I haven't really changed anything with them, but also didn't really want to after the SCX24 I built.
On the Bronco. I forgot to mention that the motor was fine, but I put so much weight in it that the servo wouldn't turn the wheels. It's brushless now, but I never had any problems with the OEM motor.
in the current landscape, i don't get why would anyone buy a SCX24. the only worse trucks are the RC4WD and the V1 Carismas. stock for stock, the FCX24M wipes the floor with it in every way imaginable "but i can upgrade it, bro". yeah. just start buying aftermarket parts straight away. you'll save money and won't end up with a bunch of worthless junk parts. not to mention that thanks to the utter junk electronics in SCX24s (other than the V2) you'll have to spend some serious money to get to the performance of a stock FCX24M, let alone a lightly modded one to optimize the weight "but there's so much more options for the SCX24, bro!". kinda. but not as much as you think. chassis(es) is the main difference here. SCX24 choice dwarfs all the other 24th and 18th scale platforms combined. by A LOT. axles? junk wormgear offers you untunable drag break and junk speed, so it's actually way less versatile and 'diverse' than the competition. a bit more tuning/gearing options, but not significant considering the drawbacks (and weak ass parts unless you want to spend some very, very serious money to get stuff like super8s with dluxfab shafts or whatever). a bit more diversity in width choice in the aftermarket, but whatever shocks? you can make them all work on all platforms with a bit of tinkering so moot point links/wheelbase? similar as above electronics? more straight up 'drop in' choices for the scx24, but again, with tinkering... transmission? depends what you want, so i'll say it's a tie (scx24 for comps, fcx for everything else) bodies... this is where SCX24 dominates. my 0,02€
@@davidbagge2813 yes. Being a true hard body with interior and scale accessories on top makes it a bit more tipsy but a much smoother rtr overall. So with a little weight down low it’s great!

(And NO they weren't new.. not that good lmao 🤣 )
Excellent video and sweet crawling spot!!! That FCX24M looks like the clear choice winner, in my opinion, too! I have two SCX24s and the motors and servos crapped out on both of them just after the warranties had expired. I ended up getting better, stronger motors and servos on them, and now they're much better than stock. On the other hand, my FMS/Roc Hobby 1/18th scale rig is still an absolute beast with the stock motor and servo!
Woah, you've lost a ton of weight dude
I did! Lost about 50lbs. Gained back maybe 10-15 😆
@2fmrc wow. Did you lose it cos you wanted to or for other reasons? Must admit I could do with losing a few lbs myself.. well. About 100, if I'm honest, haha.
@@DesignedRhyme my wife is actually a health coach and runs a great program so she helped me. I just needed to lose some. Had started getting high blood pressure on top of hitting 40 so I just figured I needed to do it! I definitely feel a lot better!
@2fmrc Change of diet & more exercise? Chuck in type 1 diabetes & I'm basically the same, lol.
I blame Amazon & JustEat.. & the fact I'm lazy af since the pandemic
@@DesignedRhymeI’m not a fitness professional or anything but get out there and trail run dude. You got this. Pandemic made me a shut in. Finding RC on the tail end of it got me going outside and reconnecting with nature.
Head says Fms but the damn Heart... is still, with the Scx for its simplicity and parts availability.
@@Jb-Raja lots of aftermarket stuff for the scx. You can basically make it into anything. Not much for the 24m yet but it’s great out of the box. I would say if you really like to mod and completely change your trucks up later then go scx24. If you mostly want a good looking, solid truck out of the box and plan to do just a few simple mods the 24m is great.
love my scx24!
@@crawlingpnw_rc I love mine once I replace most everything on them lol
I feel like the Axial Bronco would have been a better comparison.
@@dershwans yeah my bronco is very heavily modded and I wasn’t really going to buy another just for the review lol
Totally agree! Love what fms has done with their releases lately
@@2fmrc agreed! I recently got the FCX10… wow is all I can say.
very nice collection and video new sub and bell thanks for sharing my Friend.😊😊👍👍🚜🚛🚚🛻🚙🚘🚧🚧🚧🚦🚦
My Favourite FMS All RC Cars ❤
Smaller tires make them faster not slower
@@henrycruz45cal larger tires will have a higher top speed but slower getting there.
Die Geländefahrt war für Beide nicht geeignet😮 eher für 1:10
Wish they sold the SCX24 without any electronics...
That would definitely be the way to go!
in the current landscape, i don't get why would anyone buy a SCX24. the only worse trucks are the RC4WD and the V1 Carismas. stock for stock, the FCX24M wipes the floor with it in every way imaginable
"but i can upgrade it, bro". yeah. just start buying aftermarket parts straight away. you'll save money and won't end up with a bunch of worthless junk parts. not to mention that thanks to the utter junk electronics in SCX24s (other than the V2) you'll have to spend some serious money to get to the performance of a stock FCX24M, let alone a lightly modded one to optimize the weight
"but there's so much more options for the SCX24, bro!". kinda. but not as much as you think.
chassis(es) is the main difference here. SCX24 choice dwarfs all the other 24th and 18th scale platforms combined. by A LOT.
axles? junk wormgear offers you untunable drag break and junk speed, so it's actually way less versatile and 'diverse' than the competition. a bit more tuning/gearing options, but not significant considering the drawbacks (and weak ass parts unless you want to spend some very, very serious money to get stuff like super8s with dluxfab shafts or whatever). a bit more diversity in width choice in the aftermarket, but whatever
shocks? you can make them all work on all platforms with a bit of tinkering so moot point
links/wheelbase? similar as above
electronics? more straight up 'drop in' choices for the scx24, but again, with tinkering...
transmission? depends what you want, so i'll say it's a tie (scx24 for comps, fcx for everything else)
bodies... this is where SCX24 dominates.
my 0,02€
The scx just looks so cheap ,The fms looks awesome compared and actually is way better on the trail , greetings ....Harry
El Disco ver lleva mucho peso tanto baca cómo rueda de repuesto , no es muy justa la prueba de ángulo de ataque.
Un saludo.
The fms is top heavy and rear biased.
@@davidbagge2813 yes. Being a true hard body with interior and scale accessories on top makes it a bit more tipsy but a much smoother rtr overall. So with a little weight down low it’s great!
@2fmrc i in belief this is why the front didn't dump on the ramp.
I’m hoping that with the next 1-2 years the aftermarket for the fms picks up like that aftermarket did for the scx24. I see that being the main downfall of the fcx24m.
fms every day of the week my first minis were axial,s deadbolt then chev c10 cause i only used axail 1/10 scales from their first release of the wraith and honcho about 15 years ago so i thought i try the power wagon fms and 27 trucks later all fms - hobbyplus evo,s one traxxas shitbox recently nice body but.. axail garbage steering servos' shitty tiny under powered motors bullshit wormdrive diffs they talk about scale there is no such thing learn how to drive the list go on ,on junk on a axail toy shocks gearbox tiny tyres no bead lock rims lights that stay on replace all that and now u have a FMS model
Terrible comparison.
Where is our Broncos fcx24m?
