I have both the scx24 power wagon and the fcx24m range rover, and I was blown away by the out of the box performance of the fcx24m compared to the scx24. Great video!
Ah cool, I love the Discovery and so nice to have something different too. I hope they keep releasing more different body styles and hopefully not a Lexus! 😬🤣
I got the Power Wagon. Was totally disappointed with the motor and servo compared to the previous versions. I upgraded the motor and servo, replaced the wheels with brass and took the foams out of the tires. The thing is a monster now. It pushed a Fisher Price family village across carpet. I wish I would have taken a video.
Out the box the FCX24M is brilliant for crawling and the axial scx24 has amazing upgrades! With the upgrades the scx24 is incredibly but you need to chuck more money into it and change alot to make it perform the way you expect!
I cannot wait for my Discovery to arrive! Thinking about putting the motor from an fcx18 in it with some portals and 1" wheels...make it try and stand up to it's bigger siblings. Thanks for the content!
The fcx 24s with portal axles are still cheaper than the scx - making them even better. Ive just ordered parts to try a hybrid build of an scx lcg chasis, with fcx portals, and a brushless injora fat vyper motor - all depends on finding the right links or ballends to swap from 1.4mm (scx) to 2mm (fcx) screws. Great comparison video, have to agree with everything you say. Worth pointing out that these small scale rigs are addictive, if you get one and enjoy it youll probably end up with both anyway!
Thanks very much 👍 Yeah the FCX24 is much better imo. If you're looking for an LCG rig, consider the Hobbyplus CR18P Evo Pro, that imo is the best performing mini crawler right now, thing is a beast. 👍
I’d go with the axial . The FMS is better performer out of the box, but FMS has its own quality issues. You have to upgrade the axial to make it do what you want, but that’s no different than all the 1/10 scale rigs. And yes I do own axial and FMS rigs , had to upgrade my FMS FJ40, had to upgrade my axial Capra 4ws, it’s just the way it goes with this hobby , great video !! 👍
Considering that any of these will end up costing several 100s i am seriously thinking about the Everest-10. I have 3 scx24s and the Fcx24 power wagon. The Everest-10 will do much more for far less.
I'm not sure you'd need to spend several hundreds on these, that seems a little excessive! All the FCX24M really needs is a bit of low down weight and better tyres. For several hundred you could buy a used SCX6! 🤣👍
Thats wild. Ive had the power wagon as my only rig and figured i got a dud esc or all crawlere were like that stock. Took me nearly a year to change the esc. I was chasing performance by putting different motor setups the whole time not realizing the esc was trash 😡
Yeah it's a shame, as the previous SCX24 models were better. Brushless setups are getting so cheap now, it almost makes more sense to just go brushless. 👍
the scx24 has an unreal amount of upgrade availability at a low price. i find theres not alot out there for fms models. if your looking to upgrade the scx24 has it by far. great video mate
When comparing the controls, it is never mentioned that the SCX has a whole world of programming possibilities when you take a look at the user manual. You can adjust the limits, speed among other fine adjustments that give more options to simply moving the knobs
@LosGuichos I'm not sure what manual you're reading, but mine just says, trim, DR and then servo travel, that's hardly a whole world of programming? 🤷♂️ Pretty sure the FCX24M manual has way more features for the radio gear. 👍
Features and performance wise the FMS comes out on top, but i think they have some issues. My experience is based on the SWB defender. Diff gears are weak, and they can take out the output gears on the trans when they fail. Replacement diff gears are available but there has apparently been a V2 revision at some point and the V2 gears arent compatible with the original axles. The SWB D90 also uses a dogbone for the short rear driveshaft, which will fall out once you get to a certain travel. So at the very least i'd suggest going for a longer wheelbase fcx24m. Hopefully the aftermarket takes off for the new FMS trucks, there's not a lot out there at the moment.
Yeah, we definitely need some FMS upgrades. I'm not a fan of the D90 tbh, it's like the forgotten child! 🤣 I know people have had issues with the plastic gears on a few different FMS models, but in fairness sometimes people need to remember they're plastic and not indestructible. Let's be honest, some people just can't drive! 😬🤣 The FCX24 Pro comes all metal, so maybe they'll add metal gears or just harder plastic at some point to improve reliability. 👍
The diff gears are metal in the FCX24m. I had to replace the rear pinion gear in my Range above after one use. The other three havent had any noticeable issues, at least that my 7 year old didn't cause.
I really thought the axial would win easily because of the larger tires and better tires. It was a close fight. Not sure why axial messed with the electronics. My previous scx24 bronco and gladiator had great low speed control.
i think the fcx24m is the out of the box winner. but id buy them for different purposes: the scx24 if i wanna go heavy on the mods because they have such a huge aftermarklet, and the fcx24m id buuy to do a rather scale, more stock build.
FMS! FMS! FMS! Axial is trash! I still hold hope that the 18 scale capra can perform for what they are charging. If they send you one please do a review! Great content as always!
Yeah, I think it's good it's now got oil filled shocks and I do like this body, but it definitely needs some improvements from Axial to compete with FMS and Hobbyplus etc. 👍
The fcx is the best , axial really made waves when they first release those but now they are just a puddle of stagnant water everyone else is just miles ahead of them
I agree. The FCX24/18 and the CR18P are easily walking away from the SCX24 and the TRX4M as for performance and cost out-of-the-box. I think it's disappointing to see Axial & Traxxas lag this far behind HobbyPlus & FMS. Sure, the US mini crawler/trail rigs look good, but they perform like crap. If I buy any of the US mini rigs, most likely it'll only be a body.
Yeah, with so many brands out there now people are spoilt for choice. Take the CR18P Evo Pro, that thing is a beast if you're just looking for performance. 👍
Yeah I can imagine it would be, the Spectrum stuff just seems rubbish. I've got a Furitek system in my SCX24 Bronco and that's lovely, but obviously on a different level. 👍
I could do, but I guess it depends on the value for money to people really. Brushless systems are getting so cheap now it can be better value to just go brushless. 👍
@@DoURC yep that's true :) hopefully we'll have more brushless RTR's soon, because except FMS'es all look a little bit useless after seeing their performance with brushless conversion
i tend to avoid any rigs with spektrum electronics i just dont like them at all plus ive seen just how much money some ppl have spent on the scx24 just trying to get it to beat a standard fms fcx24 power wagon it is just a tired platform now they need to upgrade the whole chassis now not just making new bodies for it dont get me wrong they aint the only 1s the trx4m is also so poor out of the box aswell
Yeah the FMS is definitely much better value for money. I did mention that for the price difference you could upgrade the wheels and tyres, then the FCX24M would be even better. 👍
I have both the scx24 power wagon and the fcx24m range rover, and I was blown away by the out of the box performance of the fcx24m compared to the scx24. Great video!
Thanks very much 👍
Great to get feedback from other owners who have both. Axial definitely need to up their game and not just release a new body. 👍
The FCX24M definitely won me over. Ended up with a D110 and Discovery. Love the two speed and supper show torquey crawl.
Ah cool, I love the Discovery and so nice to have something different too. I hope they keep releasing more different body styles and hopefully not a Lexus! 😬🤣
6:22 turning it to 50% gives you better slow speed control than 75% or 100%
Thanks, I bet it'd be like going backwards at 50% throttle! 🤣😬
Yeah it's a shame it's not great out the box, as it looks fantastic imo. The old SCX24 electronics were much nicer. 👍
Out the box the FCX24M is brilliant for crawling and the axial scx24 has amazing upgrades! With the upgrades the scx24 is incredibly but you need to chuck more money into it and change alot to make it perform the way you expect!
Yeah totally agree, over time I'm sure FMS will catch up on the mods, but atm the SCX24 probably has by far the most upgrades available. 👍
I cannot wait for my Discovery to arrive! Thinking about putting the motor from an fcx18 in it with some portals and 1" wheels...make it try and stand up to it's bigger siblings. Thanks for the content!
Sounds like it'd be a beast. Be like a proper off road Disco, big tyres, 4" lift. 👍😎

Yeah most RTR's need upgrading. Let's be honest, even the ones that don't we'll still modify them, it's part of the hobby. 🤣👍
The two speed transmission alone makes the FMS better imo
I do like a 2 speed, can really help you out when you're stuck. 👍
Considering that any of these will end up costing several 100s i am seriously thinking about the Everest-10. I have 3 scx24s and the Fcx24 power wagon. The Everest-10 will do much more for far less.

But it's a Power Wagon. Really cool. And upgrading is very satisfying.
🤣 Yeah lots of upgrades too available. 👍😎

If I get one I certainly will. 👍😎
Hands down Fcx24m I never even considered the scx24 just seems old with lots of shortcomings.
Yeah, I think it's good it's now got oil filled shocks and I do like this body, but it definitely needs some improvements from Axial to compete with FMS and Hobbyplus etc. 👍
The fcx is the best , axial really made waves when they first release those but now they are just a puddle of stagnant water everyone else is just miles ahead of them
Yeah, I think Axial and Traxxas both need to up their game or risk getting left behind. 👍
It's a great looking adventure with a stunning car! 👏 🙏👏 🙏👏
Thanks very much mate 👍😎

Nice video bro 😊i like the green one ☝️
Thanks very much. 👍
It's a great looking rig isn't it. 👍
FMS all day
👍😎 They're great little rigs aren't they. My favourite mini FMS is currently my FCX18 Farm Truck Build. 👍😁
I stopped doing what I love on youtube because Do U RC already does what I do but better - Ruff Crawlers RC
Don't stop because of me, loads of channels out there already. If you enjoy it don't let anyone stop you. 👍😎
9:07 the 030 motor is really underpowered with that heavy hardbody. A mofo RC torque beast 3.0 is a great motor for the scx24
Thanks very much for the tip. I'll be upgrading it soon so will check that out. 👍
I do Torque beast 30 after I burn out the stockers. They stop nice, compensate for crummy combo ESC's
@@tawcaw a 30 size motor is just to small. Those mofo motors have actual brushes instead of the springs like in the stock motor.
You should put the FMS esc in the all stock SCX and see the difference.. (hint: it’s much better)
@do u rc why not do a video like that?
Yeah I can imagine it would be, the Spectrum stuff just seems rubbish. I've got a Furitek system in my SCX24 Bronco and that's lovely, but obviously on a different level. 👍

Totally agree mate. I like the fact they added oil filled shocks, as it makes a big difference imo, but yeah they need to up their game. 👍
The Spektrum electronics are bad if it can barely slow crawl on stock worm gear ratios. V2 electronics with the Injora red 66t is a much better combo.
Yeah I much preferred the electronics on my previous SCX24 Bronco. I'll try a different motor when I upgrade it and see if it's ant better. 👍
Fms all day
They're great little rigs aren't they 👍😎
Let's not forget the big price difference! You can get an FCX24M for 120€, while the SCX24 costs 180€.
Yeah the FMS is definitely much better value for money. I did mention that for the price difference you could upgrade the wheels and tyres, then the FCX24M would be even better. 👍
nice👍👍👍
Thanks very much mate 👍
Quality? the power wagon has a fake rear bed its raised way to high to be a real bed
That's more about scale realism than actual quality though. You could say the same about lots of things on any rig really. 👍
