Hey Dan, I've only just watched this video, wow that was a surprise. You made a real interesting video here. Just to clarify, all 3 of those diesel engines fitted to MM model U tractors were English made. The Perkins L4(TA) engine was offered as a replacement in the UTS and UTU for the regular MM gasoline/kerosene (petrol/TVO tractor vaporising oil) as an alternative to having the old engine overhauled. Also gasoline (petrol) had become more expensive in England after WW2 because it was taxed to pay for our health care system, The National Health Service (NHS) which is free to our citizens at the point of delivery. Diesel was cheaper because there was no tax on it for agricultural use and it was more efficient. The UDM tractor was was a diesel powered version of the U for the British market. A knocked down version of the U tractor was shipped from the US to England and was then assembled here and fitted with either a Dorman or Meadows diesel engine. The UDS, I think was all built here by MM (England) Ltd, and as you know was fitted with either a Dorman or Meadows diesel engine. I think there are other viewers of your channel in England, some of the more serious collectors and enthusiasts might know far more than I do. Another interesting video again Dan, I'm glad you found the information I sent you interesting, it was my pleasure. I love watching your channel and your running commentary as you work on your tractors. Take care, and all the best. Peter 🇬🇧 🚜 (Oh, my surname is pronounced "Horton") 👍
