It's funny, he's a god in his sport but doesn't make anything doing it. Jordan has a statue. I'm sure Ali does. Will Brzenk have his? Or at least an armwrestling event named after him one day. The Brzenk Classic maybe. He's bigger in eastern Europe and Russia than he is here. I can just picture a statue of the guy next to the Kremlin lol.
It all seriously depends if the up and coming can plant seeds everywhere to make arm wrestling get bigger. The bigger it gets, the more John will get his notoriety on a bigger spectrum
Yeah I’ve looked up John’s net worth and it says he’s worth $5m! Not sure what his airplane mechanic job pays but it seems like he’s made a lot from arm wrestling? Could be wrong

2009 was a great year for the GOAT. Won his category (95kg) with both hands and won the open weight class with the right. Furthermore, as this video shows, we had the chance to see him compete with another great; Babayev, who, in this tournament, also won his category (85kg) with both hands and was in his prime.
John is just a beast. A true legend. In this video, he sustains an attack out of the box that would destroy anyone else. And then pulls back. Astounding.
2009 Larratt beats him in a hook, John has always tried to avoid the hook with Devon. He has said it himself "You don't hook Devon Larratt". But in a supermatch, Devon would lose.
57 yrs old and back on a mission. Chance, Dmitry, Linn, and Zoloev all wins and a bad decision to face Devon. Heck everyone loses. Its a pleasure and inspiration to get to watch John again. The younger generation in most sports never get to see the OG's compete in real life and that has to be cool
yes.. i met john there in poland, it was amazing, he was just my size.. i remember the first match rustam and john, when john walking bagstage and sayd "fucking strong".. nobody realize then that rustam was going 2nd place..
Virtual Customs yeah unfortunately thats the truth but voevoda is a sissy he never played john again and it was a huge weight class difference back then when the match happened. sissy voevoda lost to Bresnan 5-1 though.
His name is more well known in Eastern Europe than the USA. A damn shame. One of the most dominant athletes at his sport and even people whose job is to cover sports don't know his name
@tebratius I guess in the most technical terms the lock offs are not considered power, but it all still requires a lot of strength. Besides, it would be boring as fuck if they couldn't use body weight and arm wrestling would have died long ago if this was the case.
hes the number one in the world, yet hes been beat by travis bagent and john before. hes beat john at one competition. i dont think hes the number one if he had one good night. and you're correct, why would the #1 as you call him not compete in world competitions? john brzenk however is in the guiness book of world records as the world's most successful armwrestler. i'm just saying.
@Purdue74 voevoda was bobsliegh that year and won the bronze medal too and was out of shape he was retired from arm wrestling so if he continued and trains like hell maybe he could kill brzenk in a vendetta but if his retiring you cant tell who would win so voevoda killed brzenk in 2004 in 1 second lol adding 20 lbs on your body dont make a difference to a monster like voevoda :)
Rustam is one of the best middleweights of all time. Tim Bresnan is an accomplished puller who’s also a much bigger man than Rustam physically. Rustam is amazing, but he was so outframed and physically out classed in the top 8 that it didn’t matter.
I know John is good, but I feel that Babayev don't get the respect that he deserved, don't forget that he is a middlewheight and John is a heavywheight, that says it all. But I don't know why Babayev didn't put John in a toproll, I mean in a hook is really hard to pin John, and Babayev didn't have that endurance like Devon for example... If he had endurance, he will beat John, Rustam is clearly much more explosive and much more powerful of the go than John, but he lacks endurance.
John was going to take on Rustam in his own category in 2010 (he was leaning down to Rustam's weight class to claim three PAL belts, the super heavy, heavy and middle weight), but Rustam got injured. The amazing thing about John is that he wasn't afraid of anyone or any challenge.
I would say there's a difference between Todd and Rustam. Todd is really a heavy weight arm wrestler who adopts a crash diet a day before the weight ins to make it to the middle-weights. Rustam was a genuine middle-weight for a long time.
There's a lot of hype about John, in a similar way to LeBron James. If the pads weren't so tiny there was a good chance Rustam would have pinned him. yes, and 2010 was one of the worst, with shoulder injury and lost matches ... :(
@pabnaful yeah 2010,11,12,13 were not good for John
John Brzenk is awesome.
Brzenk's technique when caught in a hook is simply sublime.
It must be an absolute pleasure to lose to John Brzenk.
It is 😌
Одно удовольствие смотреть на Джона!!!

Nah bruh, aint no one beating 2009 Brzenk by deep hooking him.
I think 2014 brzenk was the most monster.
2009 Larratt beats him in a hook, John has always tried to avoid the hook with Devon. He has said it himself "You don't hook Devon Larratt". But in a supermatch, Devon would lose.

Is there any armwrestler in the world who isn't pinned by John Brezenk???
No he didn't. He still pulls. He's just battling a shoulder injury.
denis was not the strongest back then...he was just beginning in fact, and Andrey was like a child...
Voevoda wasn't

Robert Craig I believe John didn’t pin oleg zhokh as well...!
2:31 rich flair 😂😂
This period john was unstoppable.. fucking goat
John even asked to give Rustam a chance in the straps the last pull. If Rustam was in John's position, he would've just taken the foul win

2:26 Babayev´s moment when he knows he is in for a treat in the fight.
The true perfect storm legend in the armwrestling, pure strength domination
