Also, you can make a tiny room for only to go inside and It's only space for one player so they won't spawn inside of you and they'll spawn outside of the room then you can kill them with either a sword when you come out or you can make some cool redefine thing :)
In another test I did, you can actually replace the flooring with half-blocks, and no zombies spawn, so you can still have your grinders it looks like.
Or you could stand on a single block in the middle of a bunch of other blocks that a zombie may spawn on, but when it does, it dies. Such as a lava source block. And you can set up a redstone hopper sorter to collect and sort drops, as well as a redstone bridge, that will pull up a safe path for you! And maybe you could use the lava to your advantage. If you have a lever flicked, it will place lava over the hopper. then it will not be as laggy.
Im pretty sure its a feature, not a bug. When they added top-side slabs, mobs couldnt spawn on them. They fixed that and said it wasnt intended. If they wanted mobs spawning on lower slabs I'd imagine they would have changed it then as well.
it can improve grinder better zombie just make sure your ready for it like me where i every single time even out of the update make a special room just for farming zombies
Building a spawner is a trivial task, really. The hard part is finding a dungeon and getting your base set up around it. After those ten minutes of screwing around with buckets and following guides it's /emone:russiancheatenginecommand(lots)
I agree personally, but only because my server uses XP as a currency. I mean litteraly, you just need a dungeon, and you are litteral creating money by repetitively clicking buttons. I am going to make it as to where they don't drop xp, but you can still get it from smelting and mining, And killing other players.
what about just go to the spawner then stand on a block that is surrounded by lava then hit zombies that way the zombies falling the lava while hitting them to make the grinder better
Yes, instead of actually gaining experience through adventure and potentially risky combat, let's just stand there and spam m1 because our sword needs to have at least communism IV, hellfire X and manslaughter III to top the sword your neighbour has. It's totally earned, guise! Pressing m1 on harmless enemies in a controlled environment takes more bravery than killing harmfull enemies in an uncontrolled environment, guise! Absolutely disgusting.

Half slab the area around the drop tube, it will prevent all mobs from spawning more effectively than light.
You can also just isolate yourself in a small 1-block-floor-room in front of a grinder, too.

Enclose your self in a 1x2 space or replace around you with half slabs. Not a gamebreaker for grinders.
No, this IMPROVES grinders. Simply fence yourself when farming, and have a switch handy to pull the floor around you into a trap. :)

I wonder do they spawn anywhere if you hurt a zombie even if it's lit ? Cause it could get REALLY annoying in villages or idk...
