Driving out of Reykjavik the four lane highway shortly becomes a two lane highway, but twenty-minutes into the drive it opens up to four lanes. And it remains a four lane highway when one arrives at the Keflavik city limits. I remember returning to Iceland in the summer of 1994 for my third and last remote tour. Used to be, the main highway connecting Keflavik and Reykjavik was a two lane highway all the way through until arriving at the capital city’s city limits, then it opened up to four lanes. Iceland has come a long way since then.
