The Star Trek franchise has never been and will never be topped. It was a sci-fi show that had lots of exciting action and suspense, yet all of their storylines were thorough and complex, which made for great television and movies. Star Trek wasn't just about the action- it was about how a small group of people can work together to accomplish magnificent things, and in the while create magnificent memories.

We're now at 50 years since this flagship of space series first launched, and we all are eagerly awaiting a new TV series. With all the movie hype and Star Wars kicking off into its third trilogy it would be a hard launch for a TV series, but since when has Star Trek backed down from a challenge? They have shown and tackled social issues relevant to the current series right from the beginning, and a tough market is easier than that.
One day, they will return. Those pioneers of fiction who force us in reality to look to the stars and say "I can get just a bit closer tomorrow".

Every time i see and hear the music start at the Voyager Segment i smile, Voyager had been the first Star Trek Series i actually watched from start to finish when it first aired here in germany, all the others i only had watched partially because i was either to young (TOS and TNG) or they didn't interested me enough (DS9).
Apart from TOS i of course since then watched all the Shows - i suppose TOS is to 60's for me, but i do love their movie adventures.
