@@fordtechlife O yea, I know. LOL
Solid coverage. I'm way too much into my convertible to ever consider selling it. My SSP however, i've got a shot at break even, maybe. Depends on how far I go. Your channel is doing really well sir. I think it took me about 12 months of consistent uploads to get where you are. You've done really well and I can tell your having fun. That's the best part.
Thank u very much. I consider my channel to be entertaining more then anything. You are right, I am having fun doing it. You are doing good as well on your channel. I look forward to all your videos. I appreciate you watching and supporting my channel.
Nice garage set up man. Love the Foxbodys and Mustangs in general. I have a 2014 and a 1995 GT Vert 60k mile car. keep up the videos !
Thank u, I appreciate that. You have some nice mustangs. Love the SN cars as well.
You sure do have some dream cars! That reef blue coupe is goals. Love the channel
Randy Moore thank u. I appreciate that. Also thank u for watching.
This is a really good video. You covered all the aspects and pitfalls of a foxbody. I used to buy and sell foxbodies back when they were somewhat plentiful and were able to buy unmolested ones in all flavors. After not owning one for over 10 years the bug bit again. I found a lot of convertibles on the web. Not wanting to go that route, I finally found a 1991 all stock GT from the original owner. 21K miles. It cost dearly. I paid $14K for it.
Good video👍🏻 picking hatch or notch is the question!
I agree, that would be a hard decision for sure. I guess thats why I had to buy both, LOL. Thank u for watching.
This is my dream car man even if I can’t ever afford one I at least want to drive one. But keep up the vids you just got a new sub✊🏽🔥
Thank u
Great content I just subbed. I think some things to consider are:
Do you want to do the work yourself or pay someone
Do you start with the body, interior or engine
We got lucky and found an 89 stock 5.0 for $2500. The only things that needed immediate attention is the paint job and battered interior. But a whole redo is around 4 grand for everything, we are doing all the work ourselves except for an new convertible top install. The only things that were changed in the engine were the radiator fan and battery but no other mods. And this will be a keeper for us.
Nice! I hope everything goes smooth on your restoration. Thank u for watching and subbing.
Another great video brother!
Thank u and I appreciate you watching as always and supporting this channel.
Awesome video man! Im considering to get one.
Go for it!
Hat is classic bro. Good music.
Great video! All the good points covered but I kind of find these what to look for videos as an oxymoron. I can’t tell you what to buy if you don’t know what you want or what you’re looking at, this life ain’t for you! They get expensive fast if you don’t know what you’re doing. The fox life is a calling, a passion.
Rock Diesel I agree, thanks for watching.
I just got done replacing all the weather stripping on my 89 vert I love my car but luckily I’m a mechanic and just have to buy the parts and not have to pay someone to do it for me because this restoration could get pricey lol I’m keeping mine all stock minus the transmission that I’m converting to a stick shift I like your new ford racing poster cobra 👍
Same here 💪🔥🇺🇸🔧👍🚘
Yea, I'm thankful I can work on my cars as well. Labor is a killer. Appreciate you watching and thank u.
You totally nailed it with this video. I've been buying and selling 5.0s since the early 2000s. They used to go cheap and were plentiful. In the last 3 years, unmolested examples are exceedingly rare and seem to fetch the highest dollar. The prices are going through the roof so if you have the money now is the time to buy one. .In my experience I've seen stock LX coupes go for $33K. Next is the LX hatch followed by the GT hatch. Nice examples start at $17K. Manuals fetching about $2K more than automatics. Convertibles were the rage 10 years ago but now the classifieds are filled with them.
But the cleanest ones seem to be the drop tops because people in most of the country don't drive them in the winter.
I've found most people that buy fox bodies want totally stock vehicles and are in their fifties. It reminds them of their younger days when they wanted one but couldn't afford them. Now they have the $$ and are snatching them up in an alarming rate. They don't want to work on them. They just want to drive them. If they need work they can take them to the local mechanic. Now the modified foxes never fetch the money you put into them and it's the younger people that want them, yet they don't have the money the older people have.
Very well said...
I guess I’m the minority. Young guy who wants a stock hatchback lx.
God I want a foxbody so bad! Turn 18 tomorrow and I’ve been saving up for the past 10 months by working at a restaurant. I’m at 5k right now. I’m looking to get one for between 5-7k mostly stock and it’s got to be a 90-93 hatchback. 5.0 5 speed. I found one that I wanted to check out but my mom didn’t feel comfortable with me looking at it with my grandpa because of this virus.
Yea, just take your time when buying a fox. You will find the right one. I appreciate u checking out the video, Thank u.
Cobras,Lxs,&Gts thank you!! I appreciate the informative videos! I’m going to get one so I can have a little project with my grandpa. He’s had a lot of mustangs and a couple of Foxbody’s back in the day. I like your STAIND hat btw!
Break The Bricks Down no problem. Thank u for the support as well.
I've been looking for a Survivor unmolested low miles 83 GT. I finally found it. The original owner passed away and I was able to buy it from the wife. 22000 original miles red with a black trim and red interior. No AC and pop-up sunroof but I'm still happy. This thing shifts through the gears awesome. And sound so throaty. The original owner only added headers everything else is stock. Never saw rain. Garaged baby. I am happy. I haven't seen many unmolested 83 GT's in a long time. I'm glad they are holding their value. I plan to keep this. I think he put these Chrome Cobra emblems above the 5.0 I don't think this came stock. Probably cosmetic
How much you pay?
@@thomasburr9244 I was able to pick up the vehicle for a very good deal. I got a steal. I think I'm going to enjoy it for a little bit and probably sell it to a collector. I'll probably put it for sale next year for a round 14 to see what I find.
Nice find on the 1983. In my search for the last few years I came across a 1983 GT, 17K miles totally unmolested. THe guy was the second owner. He wants $15,000 for it. Not what I was looking for but it is a sweet ride. He still has it. He used to work for FOMOCO.
@@checkmateking2854mine is not perfect, but interior smells BRAND NEW. It has had some early paint repair on passenger side, and paint is old. But it's still a survivor IMHO. I would sell mine for maybe 12k.
Budget, goals and dreams. It all depends on them 3 things.
Yea, I agree. When it comes down to it that pretty much sums it up. Thank u for checking out the video.
well said!
I bought a 1998 GT. It has 109k. Got it for $1,500. It’s runs but needs a lot. I know I’ll never get all the money that I will be putting in. But I planned on keeping it anyway.
Thats a good plan for sure. I feel in the future it will be worth more and be worth it in the long run. Thank u for watching.
Cobras,Lxs,&Gts I’m hoping so! I’m trying to keep the miles as low as I can. I enjoy the collection you have.
@@Riotss Thank u i appreciate that.
A 1990 Fox boy Mustang is my dream car
Happily and luckily I bought my 93 RBM Coupe in 95 and I'll never sell it
Notch my favourite but if I found a mint hatch GT or LX I’m good with it long as it’s stock or very close to even auto because you can easily swap it out to a T-5 but I never a convertible I hate convertibles!
T top is great, convertible is almost the discount version these days.
I bought my 1992 triple black brand new joined the service shortly after 21 years still got it that’s when everyone hated fox bodies lol
Nice! You want to sell it, let me know. Lol
Also T top or sun roof. They had options @ that time. How often do you attend Mustang week or Foxtoberfest?
Never been to either one. But I plan on going one of these days, not sure which one or when. thank u for checking out the video.
have 90 cobra gt fast back how much u think its worth im putting new interior in it and rebuilding motor in it trans is t5 its gun metal grey
I just got a new foxbody for my channel wish I saw this video before new sub 👍👍

Awesome video! Make sure it's a good fit that matches your budget and see it as an adoption! lol A member of the family! It's really a labor of love along with a hobby. Sometimes they are bratty children, but you love them anyway. hahaha...
Never looked at it that way, but its true. They are like are kids. They give us fits and then we calm them down and then they act up again, LOL. Appreciate u checking out the video.
I’m keeping it stock! I’m going to build it to last! But if someone ones to buy it or trade then I will but the price has to be right!!!
He is dead on about the miles n putting money into it!
Rollin In My 5.0 Podcast brought me to this channel
I appreciate you listening to the podcast and coming to my channel.
I'm Picking up a1988 lx completely stock 5 speed this Friday cnt wait clean title Carfax ND all .....I currently own a 1990 GT
Nice.
An Lx, Gt, Cobra, and you forgot Saleen for options
Lol! I just purchased a 1991 5.0 Convertible for 2500 but needs work. Car has about 120k n all original!!! I’m already about 5k in the hole! N it’s still not running! I would say I need another 8k to get it running!
Shit I’m like 5k into my 90lx hatch once 4cyl still doesn’t even have an engine installed you’ll never get the cash back on a sale but I don’t ever see myself selling this car
Yes, I feel your pain, LOL. But don't worry it will be worth it down the road.
Did anyone every tell you like like the color black?
I got a regatta blue 88 convertible, 81k miles, I gotta put some work into it but can’t wait til it’s done lol
Bodies perfect with one tiny tiny rust spot, but sat for 3 years before finally being sold to me lol I’ve been told it was a parade car.
Looking to get my first foxbody, got about $15k to spend. Proving difficult to find a decent one even for that price !
m looking at an 89 lx vert, stick for 2k. do you think is a good deal . has some rust on the trunk lid and sure roof needs to be changed and the guy say is not running been sitting a long time, looks stock.
Just depends on all what the car needs. If it was running and driving it would be a good deal. Appreciate you watching
I googled rare fox body facts and wound up here. I have one for you. In 1994, my mom bought a 1993 black, grey leather, every option you could get except it's a 5 speed GT. It has the drivers side vanity light the whole shot. People don't get how rare that thing is now. Has a factory CD player but a cassette holder in the console. That's a 93 GT only thing i think. Nobody had bought it as the SN had just come out. She bought it off the back lot off Richport Ford up here as they couldn't sell it. But mom almost got it repo'd a few times so I made the payments. $360 a month for 3 years, plus her '89 Cavalier trade in. I ain't making this up. My family has driven that thing to hell and back. It's been sitting since I parked it in 2007 or so, my dad once drove it to the Dakotas- we live in Canada. He just wanted to go somewhere with no speed limit, so I put $1100 Yokohama tires on it so he wouldn't die. Last time it moved. It's never for sale, but you'd never find one. And I don't know what I can do with it? I have the window sticker, the cardboard dealer delivery floormats, the window hangers - they had 2 when new. One was the delivery number for the dealer. The other was the yellow one that said "This car is fuel injected, don't pump the gas before starting." The dealership sent her a bouquet of ballons with a bottle of touch up paint. Ya I have that too somewhere. BUT the best is this - mom is kind of a Karen, I'd go to war for her, but she is, so she was mad that it had a CD player, yet nowhere to put a CD holder. So she legit wrote a letter to Ford complaining. Like handwrote. Ford sent her a typewritten response letter apologizing. And a black Ford CD case with a sample CD of Ford approved music to test your CD player out with. Ya. You go find one of those hahaha. There are collectors with low mile foxes, but they aren't original foxes haha
Rob B I would definitely keep that car and get it back as nice as u can get it. Thank u for sharing and I appreciate u checking out the video.
@@RCREVEALED It got a dealership repaint under Ford warranty. Most people don't remember that the paint was soft on the later ones from the factory. You'd be washing your car, and the wash water in the bucket would turn grey. They had a recall for that. I doubt you'll ever see an original paint '93. I don't think they exist.
I'd never pay what theses untouched examples are going for. Ive had three 5.0 HOs, loved them to death. But for the money, find a rust free shell and body in a clapped out hooptie. ALL of the foxbodies will need restored or updated at some point. If you enjoy driving the car, then buying a clean stock one for high dollar makes zero sense. Spend the money restoring the clapped out one to a brand new condition while making it yours at the same time
I own 3 of them 89 foxbdy, 90 convertible and 91 convertible
Should I buy a 1990 foxbody convertible for 5k? It says the engine was recently rebuilt and it only has a few thousand miles on it. It also says it runs really well. But this video made me wonder if it needs more work then they say
Please help man
If you like convertibles and it is in good shape and runs good, then go for it.
@@mikeoxhard5713 I have had a lot of questions about convertibles lately, so actually I will be doing a video on that soon.

there used to be a time you could pick up the older carbuerated 5.0 s really cheap and great cars to start with i bought my 89 lx brand new and now we are running a 450 ci small nlock stroker ford and i just picked up a second 89 5.0 for 4500 stock with 120000 miles and it runs great.how well was car taken care of and like you said what are you willing to spend and after you buy one i promise if you would have waited a little longer a better deal would have come along at least that always happens to me,thx for vid

Love the videos keep them Coming!!👍😎
No problem and thank u for watching.
No notchbacks were 7-up editions.. all verts mate
Solid advice brotha!. Good live stream last nite. I would say my # 1 would be being honest with yourself and can you work on your own car or gotta pay a shop?. Like you said there old cars and need love. #2 MAKE sure owner you buy from has all documentation for all the work that's been done to the car. Too many arm chair QB mechanics out there and untrustworthy shops. # 3 read up and research each make year and model mass air vs speed density aod vs t5 ETC. Thanks for answering my questions last nite about brakes and suspension! Over and out Roger that copy!

Yea, no problem. That is some good advice as well. Thank u for watching and supporting the channel.
Hatchback only whether LX or GT. I do not like the notchbacks or convertibles
I only like notch
This video was awesome. It's so true. My fox was purchased last August, 43k original kms (27000 miles) all original AOD wild Strawberry gt with collector plates. I paid 9k USD. Since then I've put another 20k into it modifying pretty much every single thing from motor to suspension to exterior and interior...even a 5sp swap.
Nice, I bet that is a very nice car. I would love to see it. Could u send me some pics in my email or post them on the CLG Facebook? Thank u for checking out the video as always.

O nice! I appreciate u watching and subbing to the channel. Thank u.
Is that a Stained hat?
How about a Ttop? But I guess that's an option.
Btw....I don't believe odometers on a Fox...unless it's been WELL documented
I'm with you on that. All they have to do is pull the little speedo gear out of side of trains. You wont have working speedometer & it will not be adding any mileage to the odometer. Not right but I bet many have done this before!!
