- Check out this exclusive clip from the upcoming animated film, Watchmen Chapter 1, brought to you by Silk Spectre herself, Katee Sackhoff. Based on DC’s acclaimed graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons, Watchmen Chapter I, the first part of a two-part feature film from Warner Bros. Animation and Paramount, will be released on Digital on August 13.
The animated feature is a faithful adaptation of the groundbreaking graphic novel series by writer Alan Moore and illustrator Dave Gibbons, which redefined the superhero genre when it debuted in the mid-1980s.
The film is produced and directed by Brandon Vietti from an adaptation by J. Michael Straczynski. Jim Krieg and Cindy Rago serve as producers and Dave Gibbons serves as consulting producer. Sam Register, Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin are executive producers.
Watchmen Chapter I features all all-star voice cast including Matthew Rhys (Dan Dreiberg, Nite Owl), Katee Sackhoff (Laurie Juspeczyk, Silk Spectre) and Titus Welliver (Rorschach, Walter Kovacs), along with Troy Baker (Adrian Veidt, Ozymandias), Adrienne Barbeau (Sally Jupiter, Silk Spectre), Corey Burton (Captain Metropolis), Michael Cerveris (Jonathan Osterman, Dr. Manhattan), Jeffrey Combs (Edgar Jacobi, Moloch), Grey DeLisle, Kelly Hu, John Marshall Jones (Hooded Justice), Max Koch, Phil LaMarr, Yuri Lowenthal (Wally Weaver), Geoff Pierson (Hollis Mason, Nite Owl), Dwight Schultz, Jason Spisak, Kari Wahlgren (Janey Slater), and Rick D. Wasserman (Edward Blake, The Comedian).
Watchmen Chapter I will be available on August 13 to purchase digitally from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Fandango at Home and more. On August 27 the film will be available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Discs online and in-store at major retailers.
Watchmen Chapter II will be released later in 2024.

The pacing is WAY too fast. It feels like they’re trying to speedrun the events of the book
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this. When they revealed the scene with rorschach in owls' apartment, it felt like there was no space between their dialogue. As soon as one of them finished their sentence, the other spoke right after.
scene transitions match the vibes of the comic paneling! seeing the respect they gave the source material makes me really hopeful for the two movies
If they respected it they wouldn't keep adapting it.

The story was designed to show off the medium of comics. All these adaptations are pointless.
This adaptation or any other won't overcome the graphic novel.

Yes, hopefully it is faithful to the book and looks absolutely nothing like the movie. The poster does look like the movie's which is a bit of a let down, but I'm hopeful anyways.
They should’ve brought back Billy Crudup to voice dr manhattan

In the comic book, the fight scene emphasized that Dan and Laurie are really dirty fighters - kneeing crotches, yanking people by the nostrils. This seems to just make them standard superhero fighters, which is much less interesting.
Next will the animated adaptation of Marvel vs. Dc!

This Story takes place in an alternate yet more futuristic version of The '80s and LEDs were invented in the '60s..
