This is surely in the top 3 coolest (hottest) items for van / RV living. I will surely buy one. Nothing like watching and feeling of a fireplace when it's a little cold / rainy outside. And for cooking also. Total awesome item THANX.

Thanks for the comparison of the Cubic Mini wood stove (Grizzly)....we installed one a few months ago on our sailboat, and to get it to burn longer we just put a couple of lumps of coal and it burns forever! And kindling...we find we don’t even need it...a fire starter, and some regular smaller bits of wood, but definitely not twigs or splinters, and it lights really really easily. We still need to find the Presto logs. -Rebecca on SV Brick House

my mother taught me to use an old newspaper (with a bit of ash) to clean the window, so you don’t have to use your fingers. Works great and afterwords you can use the newspaper to light your stove.

+dutchinnertouch yes that also works if you happen to have newspaper somewhere. I don't have any and I really don't mind a little ash on my finger haha

    This is a great video...
I have a wood burning stove "Hack" ...
although I have never done it with this small of a
wooden stove. I used to have a huge 6 bedroom Bed & Breakfast
    with 2 fireplaces...
It seems all I ever did was "Fetch" wood, and clean them
    out all the time..
One time, I was low on wood... I did have a bag of Briquets...
(the little black things) you cook your Bar-B-Q on...) OHH and yes
I also had had a Bar-B-Q stand once too... anyway, I had put
a layer of FOIL down on the bottom of the fireplace, put the
briquets about 4 to 6 on the bottom and then kindlings on
top of that then the wood...
It was amazing how long it kept warm after the wood was
gone... because the briquets held heat
and since I had put FOIL on the bottom of the floor of
the fireplace, it was easy clean up. I didn't have to get up in the
middle of the night and add more fire...
The few briquets keep the heat going longer...
... I have no idea if you could put one or two in your little stove
but maybe it would be easier to buy that at Wal-Mart than finding
wood all the time... I'd use both if it was me... What do you think?

I just scored one of these stoves like new with the full wall install kit for $175 on craigslist! I am so stoked for my van, my webasto heater that came with it sucks a lot of juice from my solar panels, which have less time to charge in the fall.

  • @tybrady64

I agree on keeping a window cracked a tiny bit, but the stove does not use up the oxygen in the air. It sucks in air and then all of that air goes out the chimney. You want to keep a window cracked ever so slightly so that the air getting sucked in the stove does not create a slight vacuum in the van.
Great draft on the stove! Nothing worse than a smokey stove.
This guy makes some great points!
    Awesome video!!!

Justin they sell a cleaner that I think is silicone based in the box stores in the fireplace area. It cleans the glass and leaves a clear barrier on the glass and keeps is clean longer and easier to clean. I use it all the time on my stove. It's in a little bottle. One bottle would prob last you a few seasons.

Planning on putting the exact same unit in my truck camper. Very unhappy with the built-in propane furnace as it uses too much propane. Also, want options (have to have options) if I run out of propane. This unit will fit perfectly where the propane heater is now and run the stovepipe through the left side of my clothing closet. I'll add a fireproof wall around the sides and back of the stovepipe. There will be minimal alterations to make this fit. There is nothing like dry wood heat. Thank you for posting this video.

looks really great ! I don't know if I want to keep ask out of my bed but, depends on what kind of ash you are talking about ! You don't ever have smoke in the rv does it ? It's probably pet friendly too ! There is nothing like the heat of a wood stove ! If you are by any cabinet shops you can probably get great pieces if wood !

  • @camelotdream

Your camper van or any rv has a fresh air source always. Your vehicles heater box is always wide open so it can draw from there. Your point about candles is different as it generates CO and it needs an exit and that is why you crack a window.

I wasn't sure if you removed a kitchen appliance to place the wood stove. Obviously no. What do you have to cook with when it's warm out? Stovetop, built-in propane oven, mini-microwave, convection oven, toaster oven, etc.?
I current have a 33' class A, but after watching your videos along with some videos from several Southwest US boon dockers, has really got me considering replacing it with a super class B.
With a stand-up shower of course!

gonna have to have just the right wood for this thing. I got a full size Englander, the small one at hd or not large one and it does fine unless it gets below 20 then I gotta keep it constantly packed. if it gets down to 5 or lower then it never keeps house over 55. it was listed as 1200 sqft model but must have based that on outside 32 temp or something and now they list it as 1800sqft. as long as it doesn't get real real cold that often then ur prob ok just maintain furnace for those low nights.

Anyway, KORITFW, and thank you for all you do for us vandwellers.

I have purchased a Grizzly for my travel trailer. I am having a problem in knowing what fitting I should go through the roof with. I have purchased the Dickinson Marine fittings for the roof side, but my roof is somewhat domed. I want to be sure I have some type of a thimble to keep the chimney straight and away from the opening. Would you have any idea? I have asked Cubic Stove, home supply businesses that sell pellet stove chimney part and even asked Dickinson Marine if their roof cap will handle this problem. No one wants the liability to provide me an answer. I also have to figure out how to keep the chimney straight from the stove while going through the domed roof. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Makes no difference in a space this small, and if down by the floor it becomes dangerous as it's close to cabinets, bedding, shoes, etc. The whole point of the wall mount is to raise it so the flame is at eye-level. They even sell stands to raise them up, with wood storage underneath as another option.

Hi, came accros this video about your fire you said it cost arround a $1000 i thought it to be expensive. my quetion is how long would you estimate a $1000 worth of propane would last you run at he same rate you would use the fire, bear in mind no mess, no collecting and storage of logs the cleaning the harm to the enviroment and the fact propane would be instant and cleaner. this in not a put down or an argument it is a real question of economics regards mike.

Well, the propane fireplace I had before costs about the same, about a grand... PLUS you have to buy propane all the time, and wood can be virtually free.

Burning wood is about the most natural thing you can do, I don't consider it "harming" anything. Also, nothing beats the feeling of being independent, and I love the smell of a real wood stove. 👍

I wouldn't care about breaking even in cost. The ambiance alone is worth it in my book.

Did You get the adapter for the Dickinson Deck Fitting?
    : cubicminiwoodstoves.com/collections/grizzly-cb-1210/products/cb-3025-ss-adapter-for-dcikinson-deck-fitting
Just curious what it actually does and if I should get it, or not.
    Thank You
