  • In this woodstove review, we want to let the Cubic Mini, Grizzly, speak for itself as to how well it does with very cold temperatures. We tested it after we had a cold snap but the outside temps were still -15° C.

the space would of heated up faster as well if you used black pipe inside.. instead of the insulated pipe that keeps the heat in the chimney

Hey, thanks for a real world review from real people! I’ve considered this cubic mini stove before and couldn’t make heads or tails of the contradictory reviews, so your video helps a lot. I love how it takes off as soon as you close the door.
Can I ask how it is for creosote? Does it keep a relatively clean chimney?
Some things I’ve learned living in the very cold: Butane’s boiling point at sea level is -0.5°C (31°F) - so it won’t produce vapor needed to keep a Bic lighter lit below (water’s) freezing point. I keep matches and a zippo lighter (and a can of zippo fluid) with me in the winter months because of this. Zippo fluid is basically Naptha, and will still light down to at least -40°. Zippos will also work on white Coleman stove gas, and even gasoline, in a pinch.
Heads-up, too, that paraffin lamp oil hardens into a solid wax below about -9°C (around 15°F) and won’t travel up a lamp wick. I found that one out the hard way. 😅
    Cheers

Thank you for all the very helpful info. We appreciate it. As to the chimney creosote, we had the stove lite from around the end of August to the end of October. Barney cleaned the chimney at the end of that time, and found it to be relatively clean. It had a bit of creosote, but nothing serious, mostly of course from running the stove at a really low temperature which you are probably aware of. The creosote that was there was located at the top or last 3-4 inches of the stove pipe, where the heat meets the cold outside temps. Cubic Mini informed us that as far as the glass blackening a little, that can be remedied by leaving the door open a crack for the first 10 or so minutes after lighting the fire and that gives the glass and door time to warm up so the smoke doesn't stick to it.

@@BarSanHomestead thank you so much, this is very helpful! For blackened stove glass, a quick /easy / free tip: lightly dampen a sheet of newspaper and dip it in the ashes after the fire has burnt out completely, and you can wipe the glass right off. The ash’s alkalinity and gentle abrasive of the microscopic particles will remove stubborn soot from the glass without any real scrubbing needed. Cheers

po co rozdrabniasz gorące drewno w mini ? po co rozkładasz je na całą powierzchnię ? nic nie rób lub zgarni je razem .
